OPENING REPORT
C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2016
ARCHIVE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
The Archive Committee has been busy during the Post-Conference period “protecting C.A.’s future by preserving C.A.’s legacy.” To date, we have accomplished the following objectives:
- Created a PowerPoint Presentation on the early history of Chicago C.A. The presentation was shown at the Chicago Celebrate Around the World event and at the World Convention held in Chicago.
- Submitted two (2) “Archives Corner” articles, feature in 4th Quarter (2015) 3rd Quarter (2016) Newsgrams.

- Categorized and completed an inventory of 135 boxes and their contents.
- Created a relational database (FileMakerPro Advanced 14) for cataloging all the items in the C.A. World Archive collection. The process of cataloging our collection of thousands of C.A. items will take some time, but we have commenced this process and put into place the necessary systems and Committee members to carry that out.
- Created an Archival Guidelines Handbook for C.A. Areas and Districts.
- Scanned and posted to the ca.org website issues of the Newsgram from Vol. 1, No.1 in May of 1987 to present. This presents a wealth of published C.A. articles and stories for the posterity of C.A., and mostly certainly, a resource for future publications by the LCF committee.
- Scanned and posted ssues of “The Connection” 1986 to 1989 to ca.org.
- Created a PowerPoint Presentation entitled: “C.A. Firsts:” 1982-2016″. This is a historical presentation for C.A. Areas and Districts to present at their Conventions, Round-ups, Special Events.

The C.A. World Service Archive Committee preserves the historical record of C.A.’s World activities. This record can tell us more about our membership, our committees, our procedures and most importantly, how we got from way back when to where we are now which can have a tremendous bearing on where C.A. going. The Archive tells us stories and increases our sense of C.A. identity and understanding of our global fellowship—all of which helps to ensure C.A. Unity.
We still have much to collect and thousands of C.A. items to preserve, catalog and present to our fellowship. Please join the C.A. World Service Archive Committee and play an integral part in protecting C.A.’s future, by preserving C.A.’s past.
Your Trusted Servant, Cameron F.
2016 World Archive Chair
Bob L. – What I’ve been trying to do as a person who has been here for a while is ask people in different areas to provide info about when their Area started, who started it, where, etc etc. This will help with the history of C.A. as a whole. It will take time to compile. Please provide any info you have to Archives.
