WSC CONVENTION COMMITTEE (WSCCC) REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:
This year the Committee received several referrals, reviewed each one, and took appropriate
action. Through that work, we also identified opportunities to improve our committee guidelines, with a mix of housekeeping updates and a few more meaningful recommendations. The committee met monthly throughout the year and was proud to support the World Convention.
I’d like to thank the committee members for their me, and willingness to serve.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MOTIONS:
The committee reviewed Referral No. 16323264, regarding the recording and preservation of convention presentations for archival purposes.
The original referral proposed recording convention speakers and maintaining those recordings in a digital archive, such as on flash drives or another digital storage format, for future reference and historical preservation following each convention.
After discussion, the committee developed a motion that captured the intent of the referral.
Referral #16323264: Individual/pre-conference
Ensure that all speaker meetings and workshops are recorded at CAWS conventions. This should be done for the purpose of having them available for archives. Also, when workshops are scheduled simultaneously, it would be great to be able to have access to all workshops. (The exception might be men’s and women’s workshops.)
Also, have a USB flash drive containing all speakers and workshops available for purchase at the end of the convention.
The second motion is from the WSCCC – It is suggested that the Speaker Selection Committee work with the C.A. World Service Conference Archive Committee to maintain a list of previous convention speakers and avoid selecting individuals who have spoken at a CAWS Convention within the past 10 years.

MOTION TO APPROVE NEW LANGUAGE On page 25 of the WSCCC guidelines under “Production & Technology Chair Duties” add new language after 1) Works closely with Program Chair and Entertainment Chair in identifying and determining Convention Audio/Visual technology needs, including any plans for streaming and/or recording of speakers and workshops.
INSERT NEW LANGUAGE:
a) In the spirit of preserving the legacy and shared experience, strength, and hope of Cocaine Anonymous, it is encouraged, where feasible, to obtain audio recordings of convention speakers and workshops. It is important to communicate recording practices in advance & work closely with the Workshop & Speaker Chair to obtain appropriate release documentation and respect all anonymity and privacy guidelines. Recordings should be made available after the convention in a suitable format, if resources permit.

My submission is for the World Convention to be accessible online. I believe this is a good idea for those who can not attend in person. I am in the UK and I had the opportunity to experience a convention online in Palm Springs and I loved it. I felt a part of something huge. Cocaine Anonymous is Worldwide and I think for people to be able to have this experience online would help people come together across the world. I do understand that it could be a great expense which is why I only suggest for it to be only World convention and also brings me to my next suggestion thinking about the cost maybe if there was limited availability limit amount of tickets this would also benefit our unity and fundraising events because we could include these tickets as a prize to attend the world convention online at our fundraising and special events.

Please consider adding a sec on to the RFP process that specifically addresses accessibility options available within the hotel or venue. This would help ensure that our Conventions remains inclusive and welcoming to all attendees.
Potential questions or criteria could include:
Are there accessible entry doors?
Are accessible guest rooms available for attendees?
Are ramps available (or can they be rented) for individuals who cannot use stairs?
Are ASL interpretation or TTY services available locally, if needed?
Are gender-neutral public washrooms available?
Is there a designated space that could serve as a sensory-friendly or prayer room?
These are just examples, but incorporating such questions will help us uphold our commitment to being a fully inclusive fellowship—free from prejudice related to age, religion, gender identity, physical or mental ability. Ensuring that these accessibility factors are considered during venue selection supports the participation of all members.

CLOSING COMMENTS:
I want to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Chair of the WSCCC and help navigate the many referrals, questions, discussions, and decisions that come with this responsibility.
I have been incredibly fortunate to have the support of an outstanding team. Our Vice Chair, Sammie, and our Secretaries, Janette and Roberta, have provided invaluable assistance throughout this process. Their dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to service helped make this work possible.
This has truly been a team effort.
While we have accomplished some work, our work is not finished. From now until the close of Conference, we will continue working together with the goal of completing additional housekeeping items and ensuring we present the strongest, clearest version of the guidelines possible. We also have a few additional motions that we hope the Chair will allow to come before the Conference floor, as these items were not included in the SR-14 delegate mailings but are important to the continued improvement and accuracy of our guidelines.
Our shared goal is to deliver a final document that can be reviewed, approved, and signed off on by the end of this Conference.
It has been an absolute honor to serve as Chair of the WSCCC. I am grateful for the trust placed in us, for the opportunity to be of service, and for the continued support of this standing committee. Dear Members of Cocaine Anonymous,
It is with great excitement and a deep sense of gratitude that I present this report on behalf of the CAWS 2028 Committee here in Scotland.
As Chairperson, I feel incredibly privileged to be part of the journey towards bringing the Cocaine Anonymous World Convention to Scotland in 2028. The thought of welcoming members of our worldwide fellowship fills me with tremendous excitement, but more importantly, it fills me with a real sense of responsibility and purpose.
This convention is about far more than organising an event. It is an opportunity to bring our fellowship together, to share our experience, strength and hope, and to demonstrate the incredible message of recovery that Cocaine Anonymous carries around the world.
Where are we so far?
From the 6th till the 10th of July, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre will play host to this convention and it is a fantastic, modern venue that is perfect for an event of this magnitude.
We have 6 hotels to choose from that are all in close proximity to the venue with different price points to suit everyone’s budget.
We have lots of special events planned which include a tour of Edinburgh castle, Ghost walks, a hill walk to the top of Arthur’s seat giving stunning views of Edinburgh and the surrounding area, an open top bus tour around Scotland’s capital city and lots more.
The program committee are in the process of reaching out to members to gather speaker tapes to be submitted for consideration to speak at the convention.
The fundraising committee are working hard to create and put on events to raise funds with some great plans for the not to distant future.
The Growth of the Committee
Over the past few months, we have seen a remarkable growth in both the size, strength and unity of the CAWS 2028 Committee.
What began as a small group of people with a shared vision has continued to develop into an enthusiastic and committed team of members, each bringing their own experience, skills, ideas and passion to the project.
The growth has been extremely encouraging. New members have continued to come forward, willing to get involved and contribute wherever they can. And this has led to a committee with

over 90 members and quickly growing which has created an energy within the committee that is genuinely inspiring and I can truly say that we are a real Tartan Army.
It has also reminded us of one of the fundamental principles of our fellowship: we do this together.
No individual member can organise a World Convention alone. It requires unity, participation, service and a willingness to put the needs of the fellowship before our own.
Enthusiasm and Unity
Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of the committee’s development has been the enthusiasm and unity that has emerged.
There is a genuine excitement among committee members and the fellowship as a whole about what we can achieve together. Ideas are being shared, responsibilities are being taken on, and members are stepping forward to serve.
Although we may not always agree on every detail—and undoubtedly there will be challenges along the way—we are united by a common purpose: to make CAWS 2028 an unforgettable experience for our worldwide fellowship.
That unity is something I believe will be one of the greatest strengths of this committee.
We are not simply organising a convention. We are building something together, one day at a time and our committee is on fire.
Looking Towards 2028
There is still a considerable amount of work ahead of us. We know that organising an event of this scale will bring challenges, decisions and moments where we will need to rely heavily on each other.
But when I look at the progress made over the past two years, I feel confident about the road ahead.
The enthusiasm within the committee gives me hope. The willingness of members to serve gives me confidence. And the unity we are developing gives me faith that, together, we can achieve something truly special.
Our vision is to create a convention that reflects the heart of Cocaine Anonymous: recovery, fellowship, service, unity and hope.
We want every member who travels to Scotland in 2028 to feel welcomed, valued and part of something bigger than themselves.
A Personal Reflection
As Chairperson, I want to express how genuinely excited I am about this journey.
To have the opportunity to serve the fellowship that saved my life in this way is something I do not take for granted. I am particularly excited to see where the committee will be in the months and years ahead as more members become involved and our plans continue to develop.
The growth we have already experienced has shown me that there is a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for CAWS 2028.
I believe that if we continue to work together, communicate openly, support one another and keep the principles of our fellowship at the centre of everything we do, we can create a World Convention that Scotland—and Cocaine Anonymous as a whole—can be proud of.

On behalf of the CAWS 2028 Committee, I would like to thank the World Service Conference, the European Region and the worldwide fellowship for the trust placed in us to host this very special event.
We are excited.

We are united.

Scotland in 2028.

Formal Complaint – Unprofessional Conduct During CAWS on 9-5-2026
Dear Members of the Board and Leadership Team,
I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding the unprofessional conduct of a delegate during the CAWS Conference held on 9-5-2026 at 11am.

During the session a delegate directed condescending and harsh remarks toward another member and attacked them verbally.
Regardless of whether an individual holds any “status”, all members par cipa ng in Cocaine Anonymous service are expected to maintain respect, courtesy, and adherence to the Fellowship’s core principles, specifically the Twelve Service Concepts and traditional guidelines for conduct within meetings. Speaking down to a trusted servant fulfilling their duty undermines the group’s unity and creates an atmosphere of intimidation.
I request that this matter be formally reviewed by the appropriate committee or leadership body and that appropriate action be taken to address this behavior, ensuring our service environments remain safe, respectful, and constructive for everyone involved.
