OPENING REPORT

C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2021

WSC H & I COMMITTEE REPORT

INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:

Greetings everyone and thank you for your service to our wonderful fellowship. I would like to thank everyone on the H & I Committee for your work and dedication during these trying times, as we all deal with a world pandemic. As inperson meetings continue to slowly open back up, we continue to apply our efforts in finding ways to help the fellowship continue to carry the message of Hope, Faith and Courage. We continue to gather H & I contact information through outreach and our survey. We reach potentional new members through the Newsgram with our personal stories and experience. We must continue to reach the ones that are incarcerated and in institutions through Outreach. We shall continue to educate our fellowship members through our H & I Guidelines. Our committee continues to grow as we have members from all over the world join our monthly phone conferences to better understand what our committee works on. It has been an honor to serve this committee and fellowship. I would like to personally thank all of the members listed below.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE BUSINESS:

Our H & I Committee has been meeting every month for the past 2 years for our monthly GoToMeeting phone conference. With the state of the world that it’s currently in, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been putting emphasis on trying to figure how we can properly carry our message online with todays new technology & platforms. We have worked with the OSA in creating online meeting formats with annonymity disclaimers( referral HI 2021-01 ). Our members have shared at online H & I Workshops. The Outreach subcommittee continues to collect information from our Area and District H & I Chairpersons by sending out our survey link directly to them. That will help with creating a contact list can be can be updated as needed. The Correctional Referrals subcommitte continues to stay in contact with the WSO, so they can address any referrals received from any correctional facility. Our Creative Writing subcommitte continues to write and provide articles for the Newsgram in the H & I Corner section. Lifeline subcommittee continues to find ways to get involved with Areas and is wanting to create a database of CA members willing to serve as Lifeline point of contact in their Area. The Guidelines subcommittee has continued with general housekeeping efforts and worked on adding the reading “Alcohol” to the H & I meeting formats as a option ( referral H&I 2020-01 ).

REFERRALS THAT WERE FORWARDED TO OTHER COMMITTEES:

None

CLOSED REFERRALS:

H&I 2019-03  from Jon H. David S. SFVCA Area (Pre-Conference)

Can you please look at both the H&I Meeting Format and General meeting format. for example the Who is a C.A. Member, one shows the Copyright 1992 and the other Copyright 1992-2007 (still 10 years old) Why isn’t Who is a C.A. member in the H&I format? I believe it is important to them to know that C.A. is not a drug specific Fellowship. The reading “Alcohol” is conference approved literature to read in meeting? Can you please look at both formats and have them align with each and current Copyright dates also. Thank you for your time.

Response : Addressed and completed and the response to the referral was included in the WSC 2019 H & I Closing Report. Please see original response below :

WSC 2019 H & I Closing Report-H&I 2019-3

Response: This referral includes many responses.

Committee has compiled the available H&I Meeting Format for the ca.org website, located on the bottom of the meeting page tab. These formats have been pulled from the approved house cleaning H&I Guidelines done from 2018-2019. The copyright on these pages were addressed in referral H&I 2018-2 in our closing report 2018. They have since that been updated, sent to our trustee and passed to the appropriate committee to place on the webpage. Our Committee does not handle the General Meeting Format.

“Who is a C.A. member” was not in our H&I Meeting Format download. During committee session this has been gathered from our approved H&I Guidelines, sent to our trustee and being handled by the appropriate committee to get online. No further action needed- Closed

Committee has discussed whether to adopt the reading “Alcohol” into our format. This discussion will be handled throughout the year.
