COMMITTEE WORK THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

None

REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS

Conf 2016 – 1 Sarah T. from England

Referral: Could the conference committee please add to the registration the opportunity for new delegates to be recognized and to be given the opportunity to visit the CAWSO whilst at the conference

APPROVED REDACTED Day 4 Daily Summary Corrected on 27-Mar-2017 Page 9 of 88

Response: This is at the Chair’s discretion to do something formally during the Session. Also, we can try to plan over this course of this coming year a time for a visit to the Office for those that want during next year’s Conference.

Conf 2016 – 10 Rob W. WSBT

Referral: Make arrangements so that any delegate has the option to visit the world service office to promote unity and understanding of what the world service does.

Response: we can try to plan over this course of this coming year a time for a visit to the Office for those that want during next year’s Conference.

Conf 2016 – 2 Ian Y. from England

Referral: This method of submitting a referral is great in many aspects, though I’d like to request a polite amendment to the current system.

Motion: Could the 256kb size limit be increased so that screen shots and other digital attachments be able to upload.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this matter.

p.s. I couldn’t attach the screen shot of this error in order to show you more accurately the problem I’m facing 😉

Response: We will work to increase this capability for next year or develop a work around process if we can’t.

Conf 2016 – 3 Jason L. from England

Referral: Please issue a specific SR14 mailing each year separate from the quarterly Delegate mailings.

Response: This is an WSO process, our Committee will attempt though to be more clear to identify which is the SR 14 mailing hereafter.

Conf 2016 – 4 Jason L. from England

Referral: Please afford the opportunity for Areas outside of the United States to host our World Service Conference.

Response: There is a process already set forth in the Conference Committee Manual for this, for at least the past 6 years. Please refer to the bidding process if interested at any time.

Conf 2016 – 8 Steve W.

Referral: As the fellowship continues to grow around the world, can the world service conference held annually in Los Angeles be held in different Regions or Areas around the world.

Response: There is a process already set forth Conference Committee Manual for this already in place. It has been this way for at least 6 years now.

Conf 2016 – 5 Ian Y. from England

Referral: Seeing as this is a WORLD Services Conference, and we have representatives from many parts of the world, not least within the European Region, I’d like to see the backdrop 12 Steps / 12 Trad / 12 Concepts behind the Conference Chair, Conference Vice Chair and Secretary/s be multi language.

Could we have one of the three in English and and the remaining two in different languages representing the conference floor members. These could include: Dutch and Swedish, but also for your consideration: Farsi, Spanish, Russian, German, and even French, Mandarin, Gaelic, Afrikaans.

Response: We have these translated in all of the pamphlets already. We will refer this to the WSOB for further consideration. We do have a tablecloth with all the languages which we are already displaying on the dais.

Conf 2016 – 6 Ian Y. From England

Referral: That during the New Delegation Orientation Mock Motion, we substitute the ice cream of choice from Coffee flavour, to Rum and Raisin flavour. This is because of coffee flavours lack of appeal outside North America, and rum and raisin’s universal appeal.

Response: This is at the discretion of the Vice Chair of the Conference. Please submit your suggestions for this topic directly to that person for next year.

Conf 2016 – 7 Laurie R. WSOB

Referral: I’m not sure if this would fall under SR-14, so if so please let me know and I’ll submit it again for consideration next year. My referral has to do with considering changing the dates of the conference for future conferences. Since the next three conventions are going to happen in July, could we consider moving the conference dates to early or mid-October, and maybe evening moving it up a day to Tuesday through Friday. This would allow more time and space between the convention and conference and give all those who have a lot of work to do for both events adequate time to prepare. This change might also serve the fellowship by cost savings of off-season travel rates and maybe even offer better deals with future hotel contracts due to it not falling on holiday weekend. Thanks for your consideration.

Response: Thank you for this suggestion. We are currently under contract for Labor Day weekend for 2017 and perhaps for 2018 and 2019. Our experience has been that the lowest hotel rates are for this dead Labor Day weekend in Los Angeles. We will endeavor to check other weekends to confirm this experience as well.

Conf 2016 – 9 Yves W. WSBT

Referral: Could you provide the following information for each referral: Name of the submitter and contact information. Or a link to the referral database if it is possible.

Response: This is being done already. Thank you.
