REFERRALS OR ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES; WORLD SERVICE OFFICE, OR BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Referral # 4130: Create a summary of changes of each year’s edition of the WSM [World Service Manual].

RESPONSE to Referral # 4130: This will be referred to Structures & Bylaws where, if adopted, the WSO will provide the means to produce and distribute the suggested report/summary.

Referral #4524 (Rec’d from LCF): Make next volume of HFC an international version.

RESPONSE to Referral #4524: As this request appears to be relative to a future Volume of the Hope, Faith & Courage book, we are referring this back to LCF for further consideration.

Referral #4481 (rec’d from LCF): I would like meeting” in“a pocket changed” from “How It Works” and “The Promises” to “We Can Recover’ and “Reaching Out.”

RESPONSE to Referral #4481: The WSOB discussed this and concluded we do not have the authority to alter conference approved literature. This will need to be reconsidered by the LCF committee, and, if approved, the WSO will be happy to create new Meeting in a Pocket pieces.

REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS

Referral # 4549: I would like to see the H&I Corner re-introduced in the Newsgram. It has been 1-year and 9 months since we have seen this section. The H&I Committee requested Areas to make submissions to the Newsgram. Last year, several stories were submitted but never printed. I would be happy to re-submit mine.

RESPONSE to Referral #4549: The Newsgram process is currently under review and refinement by the WSO and the WSOB. We expect to include H&I articles in future issues and also encourage Area H&I members to submit their articles for review and consideration to be included in the Newsgram.

Referral #4415: Please discontinue all use of non-delegate chairs at the conference.

RESPONSE to Referral #4415: Referred back to sender. The WSOB finds no financial or structural concerns specifically expressed in this referral.

Referral # 2960: Mail 7th Tradition envelopes with 7th Tradition 70/30 pamphlet to regular groups, Areas and Regions.

Referral # 2959: Have 7th Tradition WSO envelopes available to Delegates @ WSC. To help raise 7th Tradition funds for CAWSO. Many groups in my area still practice only donating to Area and not to CAWSO (70/30) Send this message to Groups, GSRs and Treasurers.

RESPONSE to Referrals 2960 and 2959:

  • Our current policy is to, upon request, mail up to fifty (50) 7th Tradition pamphlets for free.
  • The 70/30 pamphlet concept is currently at ìPoint 4î of the LCF process.
  • 7th Tradition envelopes are currently available here at the WSC. One (1) 7th Tradition envelope is included with every chip & literature shipment.

We encourage all conference attendees to take 7th tradition envelopes back to your respective areas and meetings for further distribution!

Referral # 4564: That the Public Information merchandise order form be revised to offer PI the same rates on books, pamphlets, etc. as charged to H&I.

RESPONSE to Referral #4564: This is part of an ongoing discussion at WSO.

Referral 2964: For the sake of the addicts in the growing C.A. fellowship in countries from around the world, please reconsider not publishing any 2nd HFC Storybook. Instead, us the monies for translating the 1st edition HFC book in Spanish (the second most used language in the world, next to English).

RESPONSE to Referral #2964: We are presently proceeding with the 2nd HFC storybook as well as working on translations.

Referral ”#4561 (rec’d from LCF): Have LCF create green, plastic “Hope Faith and Courage bracelets.

RESPONSE to Referral #4561: Good idea! We’ll discuss this in conjunction with other items we would like to add to the WSO inventory.

WSOB WORK THAT RESULTED IN A MOTION Bob Campbell“

MOTION: To confirm the exemption of the completion of the Hope,” Faith & Courage, Volume II from Points 11 and 12 of the 12-point literature process.

Second

In 2003, the Conference passed the following motion:

“That when the draft of the new story“ book” is submitted, that the exception be made to 12-point process, that the story section not be published in the 10th point, and the Literature, Chips & Format Committee” have the responsibility of the choice of stories, with Trustee approval.

The intent of the above motion was that, by being excluded from Point 10, the book would not have to go through Points 11 & 12. We have been following this practice in our planning for completing the storybook through publication. In our research and review of the 12-Point Literature Process, an argument could be made that even though Point 10 was exempted, that Points 11 and 12 would still need to be followed. We believe that this interpretation goes against the original intent of the motion passed in 2003, and we have been moving forward as if there was an exemption from Points 11 and 12In an effort to fully inform the Conference of our process, and how close we are to having a final product, we present this motion to confirm what we have already been doing.

The storybook process has evolved into its own practice and process which is very different than the 12-Point Literature Process. In fact, LCF is working on creating a Literature Process specifically for books. Until that is finalized, we must use the existing process, modified on a case-by-case basis, as was done here. This motion is presented to confirm the exemption and to approve our actions to date. Bob Campbell

CLOSING COMMENTS

The WSOB would like to commend the 2006 World Service Convention committee on their exemplary pre-convention fundraising efforts which, after this conference, will well exceed $6,000. This effort provides the much needed funds for convention-related deposits and other up-front costs so that the World Service Office will not need to use operating funds to cover these expenses. We are hopeful that Kansas City and Salt Lake City are taking notes!

I have been with CA since the very beginning, and I have served on many many boards.

We have lots of arguments and we learn from them.

I am proud of my board members and I thank them very much

Stacey Keyes Weston – I see your secretary is vacant what does one need to do to fill that.

Bob Campbell – We are limited by the manual as to how many members we can have and right now we have a full slate . We announced the position all through out the south and Mr. Eely was selected . But we can not add a board member , so we can not figure that out.

Stacey Keyes Weston – Where would I find that information on Secretary Chair- It is in the WSM on page 5.2

Stacey Keyes Weston – What is Mr. Eleys Position. That is to be determined.

Bob Campbell, we announced it to the entire fellowship. We didn’t get enough resumes

  • gave it lots of time . We ratified Mr. Eley does not have to do secretarial work to be a secretary.

I want you to understand we have been too busy to deal with this. This is where we ended up , we are going to figure it all out.

Chair – It is now 10.53 pm the only item remaining on our agenda this evening is new business.

At one point today a document fell out of my binder. It is titles minutes, it is in fact the very first minutes of the very first meetings.

Insert information –

They will be photo copied for you
