UNITY COMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS
Our committee was met with several challenges at this conference, and I am so grateful to be a member of a team that boldly came together in unity and thus grew spiritually. We would like to thank each member of this body who attended and/or participated in our Unity Luncheon. We sold 89 tickets. Our expenses, including shuttle transportation, totaled $316.79. We have $128.08 to present to the World Service Office. We would like to thank our speaker Willie Bailey of CALA.

REFERRALS THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS
Referral # 4528
I would suggest –that the International Outreach committee create a survey similar to PI Biennial survey to find, seek & request all members of the fellowship who speak more than English who would be interested in helping to support members/new members and translations of CA literature. As the PI survey is anonymous, it would not be prudent to include this in that survey but to create a new specific format. We would utilize those members to respond to e-mails and correspondence as deemed appropriate by WSO and to help create translation committees in the various languages available to the fellowship.
John Whittaker Motion:
To accept the CAWS Unity Committee “International Information Request” form. Second
Carl Warlick- Point of Information
Is this going to be in any other language ?
John Whittaker- No not at this time.
Jackie Schickler- I speak in favor of this motion , its forward thinking and innovative. I believe as CA grows, they will form local language committees
Mike Sklar-Speak in favor of the motion
Mike Sklar- Point of information, will this be a resource for the rest of North America and will be available online?
John Whittaker- We will work with the WSO
Greg Barron- I wonder if you would enteratain
FA to add sobriety date on that form
Yes we accept the amendment.
Vinny Martin -Point of information ,How would the non English speaking person benefit from this? How would they get in contact with you?
Shane Mertz- That was why this was created , if you travel to HK obviously you don’t speak Chinese, and if this get approved , we will send it to our areas around the world and they will translate this and we can get the information from the WSO
John Whittaker Motion: To accept the CAWS Unity Committee “International Information Request” form. With amendments added sobriety date
Motion passes unanimously

REFERRALS OR ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES; WORLD SERVICE OFFICE, OR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Referral #4526
As CA continues to grow and prosper in many places throughout the world, I would suggest a letter to go out to AA Groups and/or Clubhouses that“ are currently in existence” through-out the world to realize that AA can maintain their Singleness of Purpose and those sponsees whose main substance is NOT alcohol may still find the recovery… they seek. I therefore would propose a letter similar in look to the following: .. (due to the length of letter it is not included here, but is attached to the referral which will be turned over to the PI Committee.)
Action: This referral deals with getting information out to the “general” public, so it was determined by our committee that it is out of the scope of our committee purpose. The referral will be directed in full to the Public Information Committee.
REFERRALS OR ITEMS TABLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR; AND ITEMS THE COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THROUGH THE YEAR
At this conference, we have updated the Unity Committee Registration Form to be inclusive for use by international members of CA. We also completed the Celebrate Around the World statement of purpose, procedures, and chairperson requirements as a housekeeping issue of our guidelines. In addition, throughout the year, we will continue to work on the housekeeping of our guidelines, as well as formulating additions to the guidelines.
As seen on Page 9 of the Unity Committee Guidelines re: (The Speaker Meeting Luncheon) This conference approved the“…Unity Committee to sponsor an event to both foster unity among the attendees…” and to provide a welcomed break from the arduous schedule of the Conference.
Members of the Unity Committee, in collaboration with the WSC Committee, are considering changes that suggest Friday as the time for this event. The reasons for considering changes are:
- To ensure this Unity event does not conflict with other events hosted by Delegates, Districts or Areas, thereby fostering dis-unity among the
- To ensure“ this event does not” cause more pressure to the Conference’s already arduous schedule
These change considerations’ will be worked on throughout the coming months.
Attendees to next year s Conference can anticipate details in future Delegate mailings.
