Public Information Report – Kim Covey
INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:
World Services Conference Public Information Committee has had a great Conference year. Multiple long-term projects have been completed, including our modern and beautiful updated PI handbook, now available at pi.ca.org. Also, we have finally gotten our CPC video scrubbed and ready for the conference floor for final approval. This is a real cause for celebration, however, the process to get the video to the Conference floor took much too long. We are very much aware that our 8-point process, although

necessary, will need to be reviewed and streamlined in order to encourage continued creativity within our fellowship.
This year as a committee we have placed a lot of focus and energy on global inclusivity and are happy and excited to report that we are receiving fantastic input and ideas from beyond North America and the UK. For example, we have a poster submission from South Africa within our motions. Our European PI Committee has been a constant source of new PI strategies and have created numerous exciting projects. North American PI Committee is on fire with outreach projects and fostering strong connections and sharing ideas via organic ‘connexion’ calls.

None.
REFERRALS STILL IN COMMITTEE:

Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission.
In the current WSPIC Guidelines, there is no guidelines to handle helpline calls. This used to be in the 2016 version. I extracted this info at the time to share with our Area group.
When our area asked about what the guidelines were, I had to revert to this document. Having guidelines is critical for hand-over and removes hearsay and opinions from one person to another and ensure that the integrity of C.A. is preserved the best way possible.

Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission.
To make a concerted effort to create PI materials for online/virtual distribution. Heretofore, it has been difficult to impress upon the WSCPI committee the need for online PI materials.
I am making this referral in the hope that the committee will actively promote unity in our fellowship and embrace our similarities and not our differences.

Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission.
Add transgender to list of gender identities and master’s level and doctoral level to highest level of education in the PI survey. The program is a microcosm of the world. We evolve and grow as well. Let the survey reflect that. Please.
12887808
Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission.
To create a Translation Committee of WSCPI responsible for implementing the suggested translation policy.
12254855
Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission, Public Information. Available logos to copy and paste for area flyers. The logos are hard to find for members and need to be available to accurately add them to groups and area flyers. All files are zipped currently and not feasible to use regularly.

Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission, Online Service Area WSCPI Committee Structure
- To create a European Outreach Chair position on the WSCPI Committee to implement monthly Outreach calls similar to what is done in by the North American Outreach Chair.
- To create a social media or Online PI Chair position to develop Social Media PI materials focusing on C.A.’s online presence for use by the Fellowship and inclusion on pi.ca.org.
Thus we grow!

Hi friends, was printing out the PI handbook and at page 49 it goes back to page 44 and starts to number up again messed up printing it a few times. Wasn’t sure if you were aware or not. See you all soon!!

Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission by Amber H, West London District, UK.
Add tradition 6 to all PI posters (orange, Green. Black &white etc.) that have box on for meeting details. (As we have no control over what people write in the box! Could cause Affiliation!)
RESPONSE: The WSCPI Committee has agreed this will be done.
13460068
Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission by Susan B, Online Service Area. That the World Service Conference PI Committee add an Online (or Virtual) PI subcommittee to their Service Structure, tasked with creating PI materials for our Fellowship’s use in cyberspace.
Additionally, all current and future PI materials posted on pi.ca.org should be reformatted into customizable sizes appropriate for common social media platforms. Thank you.
13459998
Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission by Susan B, Online Service Area.
That the WSC PI Committee amend its Statement of Purpose to read:
The purpose of the Public Information Committee is to carry the message of Cocaine Anonymous to the still-suffering addict. We achieve this by making our presence known VIRTUALLY AND IN-PERSON to individuals, community groups, and interested parties affected by drug addiction. We also have the task of keeping our Fellowship members informed and up to date on changes with respect to Cocaine Anonymous.
13457020
Referral made pre-conference. Individual submission by Caroline H, West Country Area
UK
Please could you include our PI statement of purpose IN OUR PI handbook. It would be very helpful. It’s referenced in the handbook (in the agenda section) but not actually included. It would be very useful for new PI servants. Thank you.

CLOSED REFERRALS:

PRESENTATIONS OF CURRENT ACTIVITIES OR TASKS (no motions)
In the upcoming year the World Services PI Committee projects will continue to focus on Global Outreach and Inclusion, and on finding innovative ways to support PI committees and PI growth in non-English speaking countries. The committee is working on trying to find ways to simplify our submission process for PSAs and Videos as the current process is very long and discouraging. We believe that the WSCPI Committee will find a positive and suitable solution to put before the conference floor that will foster the creativity and energy within our fellowship.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
This Committee’s energy and devotion to raising awareness of Cocaine Anonymous is nothing short of incredible. The members of this committee are a joy to work with. We are blessed with committed subcommittee chairs and the best secretaries a committee could ever have. As always, the WSCPI Committee looks forward to welcoming new members and welcoming back existing members to continue to carry CA’s message to the world, and find innovative ways to reach out to the still suffering addict. Thank you for allowing us to serve in this frontline capacity
As this is my final Conference Report as outgoing Chair, I wish to express what a privilege it has been to serve with this extraordinary committee, and what an honor it has been serve as Public Information Committee Chair for C.A. World Services. Thank you.
Respectfully Submitted:
Kimberley Covey
Chair, World Service Conference Public Information Committee

Simonne M. Not at this time
Marcel V. Point 4. Why do online meetings appeal to you? Do they appeal to everyone? Simonne M. We will take that into consideration for future surveys. Marcel V – Gender identity Question
Simonne M – It’s not allowed to be asked.
Nicole L – #7 what is your ethnicity (not asked in Barbados, etc….) why keep the
question if it doesn’t represent all of us? The results of the survey were approved my country.
Simonne M – North America likes to keep track of this information.
Susan B – People who go to only online meetings feel that these questions don’t apply.
Chris M. – I speak against this regarding the education information. I don’t feel is pertinent.
Yves W – Translation questions
Simone M – We’ve started working with the translation – so anyone can take it and translate it and we are putting it on pause.
Pilar R – When we post this survey is there anything in place for multiple surveys? Simonne M – Not at this time
Garret M – Where do we see the results?
Simonne M – The results are posted during the PI Summat.
James H – Housekeeping – 2 #1 questions
Simone M – Thank you we will investigate that.
Jesse Go – What is your gender (male/female) those are sex terms and not gender terms.
Kim C – The answer to that question is what gender they identify as.
Renzo P – Speaking against the motion. Statement made.
Kurtina R – Friendly amendment to remove questions 9 and 10.
7 | Page
Kim C – We don’t accept that friendly amendment. These questions have been up there since 2008, we are adding to the questions.
Jim K – Questions, 5/6/9/10 – Why are those questions included and how to they benefit C.A.
Kim C – The fact file is handed out to professionals while we’re trying to gain credibility for our fellowship and is completely anonymous.
Nadz L – Speaking in favor of this motion. There’s an option to not answer it, so they don’t have to be.
Johan T – Speaking in favor of this motion. Think about it though why we need the data you think we need.
Tai B – Speaking against the motion. Out of 21 comments 20 “prefer not to say.”
Kim C – We are giving people options; most people answer them.

Russell S – Would you like to speak to your motion.
Renzo P – Not at this time.

Sydney P – Speaking in favor to refer back. I suggest the committee to refer to page 18 in the World Service Manual for more clarification.
Parthi T – Speaking against the motion to refer back. I trust the PI committee.
Susan B – I speak highly against this motion. PI is tasked to take the survey. No one gave any feedback on this, and it was suggested.
Jesse G – speak highly in favor of this motion. We want to have a great survey. It needs to go back to committee so we can have acceptable surveys.
Stephen C Point of Order – the arguments are dilatory to the motion on the floor.
Wesley B – I speak against the motion. It is the same survey that’s being brought every year. It’s not to tell us who they are, not why we are. It’s to help the courts find out who we are.
8 | Page
Garret M – I speak against this motion. The only changes made were the adding of #2 and #3
