CLOSING REPORT

C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2006

UNITY REPORT

INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS

I came to my first conference six years ago and I have been hooked ever since. Many of you here understand that. I am honored to stand among you as a member of this conference and as a member of the Unity committee. I have been blessed to serve on this committee for the past five years. My commitment to this committee has enriched my life in more ways than I ever imagined and more than I can put into words. I have made many lasting friendships and have gained and international family, which is more than I could

have asked for. My hope for all of us is that we leave this conference in the same manner that we entered it with “Open Arms, Open Hearts, Open Minds”.

Presentation of Celebrate Around the World 2007 logo

As done at the closing of each conference, it is with great pleasure that the Unity Committee present your theme for the 2007 CAWSC:

“Each One, Reach One, Teach One”

Committee Introductions:
Tish Une Chair
Joe Augustine Vice Chair
Jesse Little Secretary
John Whitaker International Outreach Subcommittee Chair
Willie Bailey Archives Subcommittee Chair
Carl Warlick Trustee
David Booth Steve Banks Howard Eley Paul Bach
Evans Alsander Joan Johnson Mare Andre

COMMITTEE WORK THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

It has come to our attention that the Unity Committee guidelines do not reflect our historical duty of creating the theme for the each year’s conference, as well as the duties/requirements of the Archives subcommittee chair position created in 2002. In the spirit of Unity and to maintain consistency in the future, we make the following motions:

  1. MOTION: To add the following statement to the Unity Guidelines:

It shall be the duty and privilege of the CAWSC Unity Committee to create a unifying theme for each year’s conference. The theme for the upcoming conference will be presented to CAWSC at each conference.

Second.

Chair – any debate? Prepare to vote.

Motion passes unanimously.

  1. MOTION: To enter the following description to the Unity Guidelines:

Archives Subcommittee Chairperson Requirements: 2 years continuous sobriety Term: 1 year commitment

Duties: To keep digital and hard copies of all available past and current CAWSC Unity meeting minutes, reports and artwork, including that of Unity subcommittees.

Second.

Chair – any debate? Prepare yourselves to vote.

Page 54 of 90 – Unapproved Summary of Motions

Motion carries with minor opposition with substantial unanimity.

Tish Une – could I see the hands of those attended Unity Lunch? Thank you all for attending. We received wonderful feedback. We thank CALA and San Fernando Valley for their help. Thank Darwin for preparing food. Thank you to Karen from Holland for being our dynamic speaker.

REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS

  1. Referral Number 4851: Add ice cream social to standing rules.

The Unity Committee would be excited to host an ice cream social, during the conference, if allotted time in the conference schedule and if given the financial resources to fund this event, separate from the Unity Luncheon. Due to budget restraints and scheduling limitations there is no action taken.

NEW COMMITTEE STRUCTURE AS OF THIS CONFERENCE

Chair: Willie Bailey
Vice-Chair: David Booth
International Outreach Subcommittee Chair: John Whitaker
Celebrate Around the World Subcommittee Chair: Paul Bach
Archives Subcommittee Chair: Joan Johnson
CAWS Convention Unity Event Liaison: Joe Augustine

CLOSING COMMENTS

We would like to thank the entire conference for supporting and attending our very successful annual Unity Luncheon. We have received wonderful feedback. We especially thank CALA and SFVCA for their generous donations, which helped us in making this event possible. Thank you to our chef Darwin for preparing all the delicious food. Thank you to Karen from Holland for being our dynamic speaker. We look forward to continuing to serve you in unity.

Respectfully Submitted:

CAWSC Unity Committee

Chair – questions for the committee

Arnold Montgomery – was there a donation made for the Unity lunch?

Page 55 of 90 – Unapproved Summary of Motions

Tish Une – were there donations made.

Arnold Montgomery – were they earmarked?

Tish Une – no.

Ann Mosberglia – are the CDs for the Celebrate Around the World artwork available? Tish Une – the office will have them available.

Vinny Martin – lunch was fantastic. I know the beach is not much farther. Have you thought about that?

Tish Une – we haven’t thought about that. We will taken then under consideration.

Bryan Seid – Filled out Public Information contact sheet and have no place to put it.

Chair – food should be here any minute.

I need the committee’s who have not presented their reports yet to come up here.
