- ITEMS TABLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR; AND ITEMS THE COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THROUGH THE YEAR: No tabled items.
- ITEMS WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON:
- Unity pamphlet
- Book sub committee: 2nd Edition of the book “Hope, Faith, & Courage: Stories from the Fellowship of Cocaine Anonymous.” We are accepting submissions from the Fellowship776through June 1, 2001.

Page 17
piece of literature labeled “Draft,” which means these pieces should be on your tables within a few months.
- ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES; WORLD SERVICE OFFICE, OR BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
- #1473 – To be included in the WSO manual a page on a suggested format on how to conduct a CA business meeting at the group level. Items to consider:
- Should the business start before, during or after the CA meeting
- Who should conduct the business meeting, the secretary or the GSR
- Should the traditions be read at the beginning of the business meeting.
- Should the meeting keep records of elections of officers and meeting bylaw changes.
- Should the Roberts Rule of Order be used at the business meeting.
- Who are the voting members at the CA group business meetings – only members you make the meeting at least 50% of the time or anyone that shows up to the meeting on the day of the business meeting. These are the type of questions that hopefully will be answered if this committee create this page in the WSO manual. We have nothing in writing.
- #1184 – To do a feasibility study on opening a chips and literature depot in Canada helping Canada to spread the CA message of recovery for a reasonable price. This would mean Canada may be allowed to print chips as well as literature. I would like to say our dollar is only worth 70 cents US after paying shipping, duty and GST tax. We pay three times more for chips an example medallions cost $1.75 in the US and in Canada we pay $4.75 Canadian. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred it to WSO.
- #1381 – Please review the status of 12 principles and consider whether establishing any official set of CA principles interferes with the right of CA members to form their own beliefs as suggested in the 11th and 3rd The preamble and several of these traditions and concepts. Response: This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSBT.
- #1388 – Clarify whether CA has adopted an official 12 principles or simply sales 12 principle medallion. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred WSBT as originally referred.
- #1425 – Why is there a difference in the literature piece Who Is A Cocaine Addict that is read in
- meetings in so far as the piece on the Internet home page doesn’t match word for word what is printed in our literature (pamphlet that is available in all our meetings. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSO
- #1138 – To allow Co-Anon literature on our CA literature tables.
- Response – This is not within the scope of the LCF Committee business, and this may be a violation of Traditions – referred to Trustees.
Page 18
- #1115 – A clear definition of guidelines by which we can print submissions to free local recovery newspapers. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSO and WSBT
- #1413 – To allow chips and medallions i.e. Montreal who already print pamphlets be made in Canada for all Canadian areas. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have Referred to WSO.
- #1411 – To allow us to publish the HFC book in Canada to hopefully to bring the price down so a newcomer can afford one. We already print HFC in French so we can print in English. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have Referred to WSO.
- #1228 – Place consider approving the book Back to Basics by Wally P. The goal is to use this book to take newcomers through the steps with a sponsor in 4 one hour meetings that can be listed on a CA meeting schedule as newcomer meetings. Steve E gave notice that there will be a motion to rescind presented to the LCF committee. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSOBT.
- #1109- To approve Co-Anon literature for distribution reading and handouts to make items for sale at CA meetings. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSBT.
- #1021 – Requesting that the world service manual be translated in Spanish. We have trusted servants in our area that are willing to assist. Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSO.
- #1207 – To reconsider what the 12 principles are – to read as listed below.
- Honesty
- Hope
- Faith
- Courage
- Integrity
- Willingness
- Humility
- Brotherly love
- Justice
- Perservence
- Response – This is not within the scope of the CLF Committee business, so we have referred to WSBT.
- REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS:
- #1016 – Gather information from any and all sources in order to create a CA history or CA comes of age book.
Page 19
No action taken pending WSO archive project.
- #1379 Infinity Medallion – We believe that at this time this cost prohibitive based on the anticipated need.
- #1380 – Consider development of a CA 12/12 or other recovery book aimed at Cocaine and crack addicts-perhaps written by trustee appointed concept committee. No action due to resources being dedicated to HFC storybook second edition. We will be happy to review any submissions.
- #1378 – Create 2 check lists for starting new meeting – one for meeting in established area – 1 for meeting in organized area. No action taken returned to maker for clarification. – Would like to address this issue tomorrow.
- #1015 – Solicit short contributions from the fellowship on the principles for the purpose of printing a CA mediation book. No action taken due resources put to the printing of 2nd
- #1121 – This referral is to have the world service manual put on audio cassette in order to aid our sight impaired trusted servants. No action – We do not believe that there is sufficient demand to justify the cost – we believe one addict helping another is the most reasonable solution at this time.
- #1210 – That CA create its own CA basic text. No action taken due to resources being dedicated to 2nd edition HFC storybook.
- #1090 – To correct tradition 11 reprinted from AA. AA’s 11th tradition does not have the word television printed on the back of misc. pamphlets i.e. the back of the guide to the 12 steps. No action taken – already done pre original adaptation of AA ‘s 12 steps for CA use.
- #1153 – That the LCF committee consider developing and offering a service coin to the fellowship. No action taken – anticipated demand would not be accepted to justify cost.
- #1105, #1230 – Look at the possibility of changing the wording in the preamble from experience strength and hope to hope faith and courage. No action taken – the LCF committee group conscience believes that we get our hope faith and courage through sharing our experience strength and hope
- #1114 – To make a available meeting format more clearly inviting without the specific addiction to cocaine. Maybe explaining more clearing that cocaine addiction is not a requirement for membership to this fellowship, and that recovery from any mind altering substance is available in CA. No action taken – there is a tradition to cover this, which is already in place.
- #1100 – Add some reading s from CA’s own literature to the meeting starter kits and suggested
- meeting format. We would like to see CAWS inform all of CA that options are available and allowable (for example some of the committee guidelines specified using the suggested meeting formats). We would like to see the following options: 1. How it Works, What is the First Thing,
Page 20
or There is a Solution ( if conference approved) 2. What is CA and the preamble 3. Page 127 from Hope Faith and Courage (we call that Today), The Promises or A Vision for You. No Action taken – autonomy – each group is free to read conference approved literature.
- #1478 – That the attached suggestion to beginners for addition to the WS formats and for possible printing on a small pocket card. No action taken – since we have a piece in publication already – examples Tools of Recovery – Tips for Staying Clean and Sober – 26 Tips pocket card.
- #1006 – All conference committees to adapt the 12 point approval process for all publications including PSA’s and instructional videos. No action taken – we already follow this.
- #1379 – Create an infinity medallion to honor those who passed away clean and sober. Please evaluate this without regard to other existing medallions. No Action taken. Not cost effective.
- NEWLY SELECTED COMMITTEE TRUSTED SERVANTS:
- Chairperson: Randy Haveson
- Vice Chairperson: Cynthia Cronkhite
- Secretary: Ronald Antwine (Kartoon)
- CLOSING COMMITTEE COMMENTS: We would like to thank our Trustee, Walter Johnson, for all his hard work.
- Questions:
- Ron: Motion to reconsider their Motion #2.
- Kevin M.: Point of order. I’d like to know whether the requester voted on the prevailing side.
- Ron: I like this piece, however, the title is a chapter.
- Motion fails.
- John: Unity pamphlet; what point is that at?
- Jay: At step 6.
- Tasha: What would be the cost of the Infinity Medallion?
- Steve E.: The cost to create the die is $100.00 and the cost to order the initial run is $500.00, so it is an initial cost of $600.00.
- DOORBELL
- Steve E.: Parliamentary Inquiry, is someone allowed to ask questions on more than one question? I thought you just ruled her question out of order.
- Chair: You are correct, she was not out of order.
- Steve: I believe your question was did the 18-month medallion referral come up before the Infinity Medallion. To my best knowledge, this is the first time I’ve seen the referral for the 18- month medallion.
- Glen: Motion #6, why does this piece of literature have to go through the 12-point process.
- Steve: It’s not approved yet.
- Glen: Did this body ever vote on that literature that is in the 11 part of the 12-point process from the previous motion.
- Frank: The process from here would be to bring this back next year.
- Jim: On the third page, #1228, I’m confused with the wording.
- Steve E: That was an error.
Page 21
- Art: In the spirit of what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now, did you consider inserting, “Who Is a Cocaine Addict,” before “How It Works?”
- Harrison: Should you have mentioned that they also need to submit a disclaimer when they submit their stories for the Storybook.
- Walter: We will not be publishing anything without their disclaimer.
- Scott: #1105 and #1106 – Does that mean you are going to attempt to…you don’t have the information now, but you are attempting to get it. Is this going to come back next year?
- Steve: Once we have an idea of what we have in the office, I’d bring this referral up again.
- Scott: Should we bring up a referral next year on this?
- Steve: You could, yes.
- Tony: How many submissions for the new book do we have.
- Walter: 30 submissions, however, 27 of them are already exist in the first edition. So, we have three new submissions.
- Chair: I’d like to thank them for their report. Is Internet Committee ready.
- 15 Minute Break
- Leon M: Motion to reconsider. Conference Committee Motion 5.
- Leon voted on the prevailing side.
- Joy H: Believe there is not a quorum
- Chair: All voting members sit down and raise hands with votes. Clearly there is a quorum.
- Chair: Did you want to speak to your motion?
- Leon: Consulting the trustees, the language eliminates the trustees from the negotiating committee. There was no consultation with the trustees in this. Believe they should get together before making this change.
- Kevin: Withdraw the motion.
- Chair: Cannot withdraw the motion to reconsider.
- Scott: Speak against the motion. The language includes the Board of Directors in the new
- language in signing the contracts for hotels.
- Hal: Speak in favor.
- Rick: Speak in favor.
- Steve E: We have trustees on the board already. Speak against.
- Michael R: Call for the vote
- Vote. Motion passed.
- Kevin F: Conference Committee withdraws the motion.
- Deneen: Point of Order. Didn’t ask if there was any objection to the withdrawal for the motion.
- Chair: Is there any objection? (none) Thank you.
