WORLD SERVICES BOARD MEETING

The regular meeting of the World Services Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Willie O., Chairman, at. 6125 Washington Blvd., Culver City, California.
I. BUSINESS
A. WORLD SERVICES CONTENTION – Nolan reported
The Miramar Hotel in Santa Barbara is willing to let W.S. have the same prices as the N.A. convention, as long as it is not in June.
The Hotel will provide 3 large meeting rooms and a banquet- room for 540 people. It has dance floors and is open until 1:30 a.m. They will provide a. room for a marathon meeting, If World Services provides coffee, the hotel will make it for- $150.00 per day. W.S, will try to get soft drinks for free if possible. There are 240 rooms at the hotel. They will let WES. reserve 150 rooms until 3 weeks before the convention,.
A vote was taken and passed to have the Miramar Hotel be the location for the convention. The dates will be May 3, 4, 5.
Nolan would like to meet with the committees once a month. The committees -are as follows:

- PROGRAM — Willie O., Kim, Cindy D., Robin W., Ray G.

B. LITERATURE
NEWSLETTER — It was decided that this would be added to the literature committee. The name will be “The Line”.
OUR STORIES – Sue B. suggested 12 stories, to be put into a book to be called “Our Stories” by C.A. There will be no names attached. Hazelton Books will front the money if it is publishable. A vote was taken and passed to continue the project. Sue said that she can have a rough draft by November 4. She will give an update at the next meeting.
C. LETTER TO AA
AA has denied C.A. permission to use their 12 steps and 12 traditions. They want us to rewrite them. Bruce M, sent a letter to AA and is waiting for a reply.
D. HOSPITALS AND INSTITUTIONS
Jay and Howard R. are working on a letter, tot be sent to other areas describing how to get involved in H & I activities. They will have the letter ready for the next. W.S. meeting.
E. MEETING. SCHEDULE
A’vote was taken and passed to have the W.S. meeting scheduled every other Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. G.S.R. MEETING IN ORANGE COUNTY
Ray and Mitch will go to the meeting in Orange County the last Saturday of this month, September 29 at 11:00 a.m to explain World Services.
B. VOLUNTEER DAY
It was mentioned that C.A. will have an open house on Saturday, December 15, for anyone interested in volunteering their help bp C..A. Committee Heads will be available to discuss their functions–and recruit.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 27, at 7:00 p.m. at the C.A. Central Office.
