Unity Committee:
C.A. World Service Conference 2004
Unity Committee Report
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
Hello, my name is Terry D. from the Midwest Region. I am this year’s World Service Unity Chair. This past year, Unity committee members worked on various unity issues and events, including “Unity at the Beach” at the 2004 World Service Convention and ìCelebrate Around the World”. “Unity at the Beach” was a great experience and success, which was preceded by a C.A. meeting on Venice Beach.
“Celebrate Around the World” has been accepted (and expected) as an annual, institutionalized event. Traditionally, the event is observed during the same week in late March each year at every C.A. region or area in the world. The simultaneous celebration acknowledges our fellowship and the unity we aspire as a fellowship.
During last year’s World Service Conference 2003, the Unity Committee agreed to individually promote the 2004 celebration activities within our own regions, areas and districts. In reporting back this year 2004: our efforts met with mixed results around the world participation. Those regions, areas and districts that responded to our committee inquiries indicated positive participation; robust memorabilia sales; and funds generated for WSC Delegate expenses.

This year our committee is being joined by a Teri K., Atlantic South Regional Trustee. Teri has already been in contact our committee and we are pleased to have her with us. Our committee is looking forward to hosting the Annual Unity Luncheon at the park this Friday. Tickets are on sale now. This year, (thanks to the Venice Beach Meeting) our Unity Luncheon speaker meeting will be amplified, hopefully.

REFERRALS THAT WERE WORKED UPON DURING THE YEAR:
The Unity Committee had no referrals remaining from last year’s conference.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
The goal of the Unity Committee throughout the next year is to have a Unity Corner article in each News Gram and have active participation in our International Outreach Subcommittee, which has unfortunately been inactive. As the outgoing chair, it has been my privilege to participate in C.A. world unity and to serve you.
Questions:
John B. – What are the actual dates of Celebrate Around the World?
Debbie D. – Unity Day at the Beach, what happened at the World Convention with regard to that?
Terry D. – He will get with the people who worked on that, specifically the Convention Committee, and will find out specifics.
