No formal activity since the Conference. Barry and Steve from the Board are on the committee. The WSO is getting all financial formatted the same: office and conference. They are working on trends and financial planning. The budget is to be the focus. They will determine what kind of prudent reserve is needed for books, chips and literature.

  1. TRUSTEE FINANCE COMMITTEE – CHRIS PHILLIPS

The focus will remain on the budget.

  1. WSC CONVENTION COMMITTEE

A. CLEVELAND *94 – CRAIG HARRIS

There are a few wrap up issues and will resolve with WSO.

B. UTAH  95 – MIKE PINE

The committee is proceeding as planned. The speakers have been selected, the events are being planned an coordinated. The budget is being adjusted to meet projected expenses. The opportunity drawing tickets were distributed to the delegates, and hopefully are being used. The committee meeting are scheduled up to convention time. Mike will attend most of them.

C. ATLANTA ’96 – JOHN HENSON

The committee is currently meeting on a monthly basis. The theme is heading towards the 12th step, possibly 12 years=12 steps. deadlines for respective sub-committees are being set.

The pre-convention fund raising is approximately $1300.00 including inventory. Burton and John signed the contract and countered adding possible room upgrades for seven conference suites. If the numbers come in where expected the meeting space will be needed. The committee is concerned with the tax ID number situation. Should they continue to use Atlanta’s number, what ramifications of doing so?

D. COLORADO ’97 – JENNIFER JONES

Jay Finesilver is the chairperson of the convention. Some memorbillia is available for sale. A committee of 8-10 people is in place. They are talking to hotels.

  1. WSC LITERATURE COMMITTEE – CRAIG HARRISB

Bob Quanz is the new chairperson. P. Clay is working on the 12 step piece as a member of this committee.

The PSA is still waiting for dollars to become available. Barry G. the WSO treasurer is looking into a low\cost production alternative. World Wide Web is up and running, more information from Craig Harris. PI workbook and Fact File has work in progress. The goal is to have these ready for the December Delegate mailing. The PI survey results were transcribed into French and were well received by the Canadian press.

  1. TRUSTEE AND WSO PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE – LEE ARTER

One radio station in Canada has called for information. Lee will respond with stress on personal anonymity and to contact local groups also.

  1. WSC STRUCTURE AND BY LAW COMMITTEE – BOB GAMPBELL\JENNIFER JONES

The manual is being updated.

  1. WSC UNITY COMMITTEE – JOHN HENSON-JENNIFER JONES

Each member of the committee has agreed to write an article for the Newsgram. Work is still being done on the Unity Pamphlet. One was written by a committee member and referred back to committee at the conference. The committee is working on a workshop to be held in Utah at the 1995 WSC. The Conference approved the committees budget. The Unity committee and the Literature chips and format committee has formed a sub-committee to write a concept for a pamphlet entitled coping with illness in recovery, Jennifer attended CA JOINING HANDS IN UNITY in Baton Rouge, LA. There was open discussion and workshops.

  1. WSC CONFERENCE COMMITTEE – LEE ARTER

Burton Cagen submitted a comparison of seven local hotels to be considered for the Conference, and hopes to have a final decision by mid November 1994. Jim will report the results during the November conference call.

  1. WSC HOSPITALS AND INSTITUTIONS COMMITTEE – LEE ARTER

Bookmarks are done for prisons. Can labels are ready for new H&I cans. The committee wants to have a workshop at the Utah WSC.

John sent a letter welcoming all new members of the nominating committee and thanking the past members.

Changes to be noted in the process are:

  1. A nominee must have a resume at the regional assembly to be considered a candidate.
  2. Interviews by phone and in person will only be held on the candidates where there is a current opening.
  3. A candidate is elected by a 2/3 majority vote of the Trustee election committee.
  4. The top vote getters are Trustee-at-Large candidates.

The following Trustees will be rotating out in 1995 and replaced from the slate we are nominating now and ratifying at the 1995 Conference:

All regions will be bringing forth slates for ratification at the 1995 conference. Also there needs to be a slate for the Non- Addict Trustee.

Responsibility for finding hotels for the Conference has gone to the WSO. The final contract for Atlanta has been signed.

PROJECTS COMPLETED —

-The H&I Book marks are complete

-Bids have been obtained for transcribing the 1994 WSC tapes and have selected a transcriber pending written confirmation of the bid.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

-Research is being done for alternative investments for Reserve Accounts.

-Received final $341.52 from CAWS ’93 Houston.

-Received letter from chip manufacturer saying we were 8% over last year’s orders.

-CPA was informed that bids were being collected for our tax preparation.

-1994 WSC minutes are available and will be sent in December delegate mailing.

  1. WORLD SERVICE TRUSTEE REPORT – BOB CAMPBELL

Bob continues to vist the districts in the Los Angeles area, attends WSO Board meetings, and works with the WSO on usual business, new projects and as needed.

  1. PACIFIC NORTH TRUSTEE – MIKE PINE

ALASKA-There are nine meetings a week with 30-50 people attending. There are two H&I meetings, one in a womens jail. There are plans to start a new meeting that will be 11:00pm until 1:00 am. and plans to start a Co-Anon group. They are making arrangements for Mike’s trip in January 1995.

CANADA

VANCOUVER

BC-There are three meetings a week. There are two H&I meetings at detox centers. They have a hard time contacting people.

CANADA

ALBERTA-There are six meetings a week with two H&I meetings. There are two meetings a week in Edmonton. They have a PSA on Cable TV. They too are making arrangement for Mike’s January visit.

WASHINGTON-There are 33 meetings a week and five H&I meetings each week. There are five districts. They are having monthly bowling in rotating districts. The new phone is working well.

OREGON-(AREA SOUTH OF THE RIVER)

There are 23 meetings a week with nine H&I meetings. The 1995 Regional Convention will be held February 16-18 1995 at ‘The Mountain” (base of Mt. Hood). They are planning a Thanksgiving Dinner\Dance. There are two billboards, a service workshop

monthly.

OREGON- (AREA NORTH OF RIVER VANCOUVER)

There are two meetings a week/ five H&I meetings, with three an VC and two in Longview. Group support is good. They are making donations directly to WSO, and looking to start more meetings.

IDAHO-There are six meetings each week with two H&I meetings. The teens have their own meeting which is doing very well. They will host the 1996 Regional. They are making a quilt for the Regional Convention using old CA convention T-shirts. They need T-Shirts , donated….please send to Rose,

UTAH-There are 27 meetings a week with two H&I meetings. The WSC committee’s monthly meetings are going well. Their ROCKIES V did very well.

NEVADA-No contact.

NORTHERN

CALIFORNIA-Sixty meetings a week with 15 H&I meetings. There are eight districts. The Area meets quarterly. They are planning their annual Coke-a-thons for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s dance.

  1. PACIFIC SOUTH TRUSTEE – LEE ARTER

There have been no major changes since the last Trustee meeting. Lee attends service meetings in his region and reports all is well.

  1. ATLANTIC NORTH TRUSTEE – JIM SCOTT

MONTREAL-Jim attended the quarterly Area Service meeting on September 17, 1994. There were about 40 people there. New representation form meetings in Ottawa. Delegates gave excellent WSC reports. They have a new Convention Committee chair, smooth transition. Convention netted C$1500+. District moves their monthly meeting from Tues to Sat just before ASC to encourage GSR’s to attend.

TORONTO-They have new district officers. They invited Jim to

attend a service meeting on November 12, 1994. Enthusiasm is up and meetings are stable. Past controversy seems to have subsided.

MASSACHUSETTS-There is a new area chair. The ASC is the second Sunday at 6:00 pm. Jim will try to attend. Enthusiasm is up and meeting count is stable.

CONNECTICUT-Quarterly State meeting was the Last weekend of October 1994. Meeting count is around 30. Area chair was asked by Jim to initiate Trustee nomination discussions to ensure inclusive process.

NEW YORK-Area is stable financially. 11th Anniversary dinner on December 3, 1994(black tie optional). New PI contact from State Education office. Voice mail system replaced answering service for a huge savings. They have initiate Trustee nomination discussions.

DC-There are 16 meetings. Sharon Smith a new Trustee has resigned as Area chair.

  1. ATLANTIC SOUTH TRUSTEE – JOHN HENSON

FLORIDA-There are 47 meetings, three districts with quarterly Area meetings and active committees. Ft. Lauderdale=nine meetings and HOTLINE. Ft. Myers/Cape Coral-eight meetings and HOTLINE. Ft. Pierce=one meeting. Ocala=three meetings. Orlando=one meeting. Pensacola/Milton/Ft. Walton=eight meetings. Sarasota=three meetings. Tampa=three meetings. Pensacola will be hostingthe 4th annual regional assembly and convention on the beach in May 1995.         .

GEORGIA-There are 67 total meetings. Athens=one meeting. Atlanta-45 meetings, monthly inter-group meeting, hotline, central office and all active district committees.

Carterville=two meetings. Columbus=nine meetings, struggling financially, HOTLINE has been turned off. Rome=three meetings. Savannah=one meeting. Brunswick=6 meetings.

ARKANSAS-There are 24 total meetings and monthly area meetings. Little Rock has over 20 meetings, active intergroup, hotline and

LOUISIANA- There are 58 total meetings, three districts with quarterly area meetings. Alexandria-three meetings. Baton Rouge-27 meetings, active intergroup, active committees and HOTLINE and central office. Lafayette=two meetings. Lake Charles =four meetings. Morgan city=three meetings. New Orleans=eight meetings active intergroup, hotline. Shreveport=l1 meetings, hotline, central office. New Orleans is interested in possibly forming a new Area with other Gulf coast cities.

TENNESSEE-There are 41 total meetings. Memphis=36 meetings, ten H&I meetings, central office with office worker, hotline, active committees. Area convention was held September 16-18 1994.

Their eighth anniversary will be in November. Nashville=five meetings, active intergroup.

SOUTH CAROLINA-There are seven total meetings. Columbia=two meetings. Spartanburg-three meetings, active intergroup, active committees. HiltonHead^two meetings.

NORTH CAROLINA-There are six total meetings. Charlotte=four meetings. Hicory~two meetings. A speaker from North Carolina recently shared their story in Atlanta.

ALABAMA-There are 10 total meetings. Birmingham^ive meetings. Hunstville=one meeting. Mobile^three meetings.

VIRGINIA-There are 18 total meetings. Chesapeake-two meetings. Hampton=one meeting. Norfolk=ll meetings, active intergroup, active committees. Portsmouth=one meeting. Virginia Beach=two, meetings. Williamsburg-one meeting.

MISSISSIPPI-There are seven total meetings. Jackson=five meetings. Long Beach=one meeting. Biloxi=one meeting.

  1. MIDWEST TRUSTEE – CRAIG HARRIS

Very little change in the meetings by area and state. Craig attends Service meetings and reports all is well.

Missouri is turning two districts into an area. Craig went to Milwaukee’s Day of Enhancement. Chicago southside has organized district, so now all Chicago groups now belong to one district or another.

  1. SOUTHWEST TRUSTEE – JENNIFER JONES

ARIZONA-There are 80+ meetings. The new Delegate brought back a message of how important the 7th Tradition and 70\30 plan are.

COLORADO-There are 21 meetings. Denver will be hosting the 1997 WSC. They have started a memorabilia donation list of special edition sales of hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts and bandannas. They are going to hold off a little on future sales to help Utah who is the 1995 WSC host. Little change is meeting status, good participation from delegates at the Regional Caucus.

KANSAS-There are 26 meetings with good participation. The delegate attended to SW Regional Caucus.

NEW MEXICO-There are 14 meetings. Albuquerque hosted the Regional Convention October 21-23, 1994. There was good participation from delegates in the region and other CA members.

OKLAHOMA^There are 37 meetings. There is work being done to have a Tradition workshop. H&I is hard working. State convention will be held in March 1995. They have two new delegates.

TEXAS-There are 177 meetings. Dallas now has two meetings. In November there will be a new location for some of the meetings. Storybooks were sent to Amarillo and Lubbock. There has been a lot of discussion about the importance of the 7th tradition.

  1. TRUSTEE AT LARGE – SHARON SMITH

This was Sharon’s first Trustee meeting since being elected in September. She will be working with John on contacts in Virginia.

  1. TRUSTEE AT LARGE – CHRIS PHILLIPS

Chris attended the South West convention and a Colorado convention. He will be doing a Traditions workshop in Oklahoma City. He will contact people who have requested starter kits since 1992 .

John and Mike will convey concerns to Convention Committees. Need to reach agreement that multi-Fundraising done simultaneously is not in the best interest of the Fellowship as a whole.

John will write a job description with Debbie. John will arrange to get archives to WSO after he organizes it.
