Approved WSOB Minutes for October 27. 2005

Judy W. called the meeting to order with the Serenity Prayer at 7:10.

Present:

Judy Weissman -Acting Chair

Visitors: Susan Bredau, Recording Secretary; Tom Phelan, in all probability our new Treasurer

Schedule: Next WSOB meeting is Thursday, November 17th

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. Approve Minutes from October 13 – PF asked for clarification in Bob C’s report. BW made motion to table, seconded until Bob C. could clarify statement regarding his term of service. Passed.

Board Reports:

Patty Flanagan – Office Manager – “We Can Recover” has not been reprinted. The dress code for office staff is to be casual business. Draft of 2007 Registration form not received. Lack of 2006 website is causing overwhelm of WSO staff – Houston would like to create site themselves and have approved copy but WSOB has not seen or approved. Jay is on it. (Written report submitted)

Brian W. – Acting Treasurer: We’re doing all right. He’ll fix oversight. (Written Report Submitted) Have not received the hotel bill or credit from 05 Conference.

Susan B. brought forth a proposal presented at the last PS Regional Assembly regarding a single 800 and web address to service the California Areas in the Region for Public Information purposes. Since at least 5 of the Areas share the same media market, Consolidating efforts and working together could expand outreach efforts. It was suggested that I bring to the WSOB in consideration of new phone system to see if that might be part of the solution.

Old Business Continued

  1. Houston Registration Chair – not yet (OB next meeting)
  2. Outsourcing Registration System – see Board Report, Director !l
  3. Status of HFC Inventory – when to reorder – Patty says we have 4000 on site, which is 3 mos. inventory.
  4. Traveling Times Newspaper – Earl will ask Tony again for copy of publication (OB)

Board Reports

Judy W. – Acting Chair: Nov 1 – Judy will be 12; gave Earl Birthday chip for 18. Update on LCF Committee progress on HFC II. Need Quiet the Mind flier from Conference for Jon F. to upload to ca.org.

Jon Fish – Director 1/Webservant: – Web site is updated with link for CA Scotland and CA France

Kathy Jo R. – Director II: (Written Report submitted) – Event Registration & e-Marketing Software Implementation.

Earl H. – WSOB Trustee: Attended PS Regional Caucus and planted seed regarding Financial Guidelines! Reported on San Diego Celebration “Scared Sober”. August Quarterly Board to Board Minutes.

Motion to approve Board to Board Minutes by Earl. Seconded by Jon. Passed.

Hayward H. – WS Trustee: Written Report Submitted Committee Reports:

Conference Committee

CAWS 2006/Houston – Entertainment Committee wants $1000 deposit for Marcus Wiley – comedian

Motion Patty & Earl. Total fee is $2000. Final contract not approved – Tabled Jon/Patty (OB)

Motion to pay $150 deposit Herman Park Golf Course a on contract for $35. head for 40 people. Tabled Earl/Brian

Motion to pay Gold Star $385.60 for pre-convention fundraising memorabilia. Patty/KJ

Earl motioned to conclude 2006, 07 and 08 business by 10:30. Brian 2nd – Passed

Motion by PF: To pay Patricia Jackson $79 for materials to create an afghan for silent auction. JF 2nd – Passed

CAWS 2007/Kansas City –

CAWS 2008/Salt Lake City – Motion to approve purchase of $2100 for pre-convention fundraiser to William Allen Oikley for 200 bracelets. 4 sizes @ $10.50 each can reorder at same price, could be less. Only length of chain will change. Trademark will appear on inside of bracelet. Will sell for $30 each, includes duty and shipping from Indonesia. Earl 2nd. Passed. Will suggest coming up with a men’s design and 3 logos instead of 4.
