Your Message: I am the Webmaster for Marijuana Anonymous World Services and we have become aware that OnLive.co is listing Zoom-based recovery meetings from (best I can tell) all the fellowships (I’ve seen AA, NA, and MA meetings there). They gathered these meeting links from public sources such as our World Services site, district sites, etc.What alarmed us most was they feature a Donate button that we believe flies in the face of Traditions 6, 7. We reached out to OnLive.co support and have begun engaging them to better understand their platform. What is clear to us is that our individual meeting hosts would have to sign-on to their platform, claim a meeting or setup a meeting there, and enter _bank information_ to claim donated funds. OnLove.co claims that they never take afee from donated funds except the fee that their payment process charges.So, I’m bringing this to your attention in case you were unaware of this or if you wish toact on this and contact OnLive.co yourselves. Although each fellowship has a singleness of purpose perhaps we can band together to address this.I will be reaching out to NA and AA as well. Thank for your time.

Dear WSBT,
I am writing to you regarding circumstances of which you should be aware. It is with no pleasure that I write to you but know that I have the full support of my fellow delegates, Cameron and Tom, and Chad, the OSA Chairperson.
I will do my best to simply highlight pertinent comments and concerns.
On August 17th, I was contacted by our Area Fundraising and Special Events Chair, Rich B, about a situation that had developed between he and Trustee Laurence in the C.A. Europe Events WhatsApp.
At issue was the posting of available fundraising merchandise in the OSA Web Store. Trustee Laurence asked that Rich cease and desist from posting the info to the group. Rich is one of our young guns in recovery and service and has great enthusiasm for the work. He has done an exemplary job on behalf of the OSA.

Before Rich became F&SE Chair, we had some fundraisers but none were as successful as those Rich and his committee have accomplished.
Trustee Laurence has some very strong opinions about the OSA and how we fundraise.
[4:52 PM, 8/17/2021] Jason Laurence: Dear Susan, Please would you assist. I have asked Rich to stop inundating the European Events group with OSA merchandise. I turned a blind eye to the occasional advert but it’s become constant advertising and it is inappropriate. No other Area behaves like this. Arras are supposed to be fully self supporting. Also the merchandise is not created by the OSA it is just vast array of catalogue items with our logo stuck on it. Our World Service Office is charged with carrying out the business of C.A. It is not the function of an Area.
[8:34 PM, 8/17/2021] Susan B: Hi Jason, Please excuse Rich’s zeal. As you might imagine, the OSA needed to get creative when it came to our Area fundraising. I have asked him not to post OSA Store flyers in your group but to simply message that there are new items. Would you kindly add him back into the group? He is still new (just took a year) but very enthusiastic in his commitment to service. He has also been asked to include more items with the OSA logo on them. [3:31 AM, 8/18/2021] Jason Laurence: I don’t want any selling on the group. Posting messages that there are new items is not appropriate either.
[3:43 AM, 8/18/2021] Jason Laurence: What you are selling is not memorabilia. You have hooked up with a fulfilment company who will provide hundreds, if not thousands of products with our logo on them. The WSBT receive several propositions a year from companies offering this ‘service’ and we always respectfully decline. We are not a merchandising company. The World Service Office is charged with supplying C.A. items. You are effectively looking to the whole Fellowship to fund your Area and that is not appropriate, as I’m sure you will appreciate. Also, by engaging with a company in that fashion we are invariably endorsing their products. Rather than members making simply Tradition donations it is being suggested that they should support the Felliwship by purchasing OSA merchandise. If they do so… Following this logic, C. A. should not be selling literature on Amazon! I appreciate the fact that the Trustees decided this was not a good option for CAWSO, Inc, however it was indeed the best option for the OSA and has worked very well for us. A.s an Area with no geographical boundaries it solves the problem of being able to reach our members, wherever they may be.

[3:26 PM, 8/19/2021] Jason Laurence: Please don’t strike another match in Europe. – I believe this was in response to my response to this question Does rule # 62 apply to WhatsApp groups? Asking for a friend: Always! However, I call them like I see them. That a trusted OSA servant would be chastised and removed from this group by a

Trustee for doing his service treads very close to stepping on the 2nd Tradition, IMO. As for the other, it was unnecessary. My apologies to the group. ✌ Other group members do not have a problem with the OSA Store posts:
- The OSA store has raised over $1000 to help carry the message to the still suffering addict which is commendable. They’re limited with how they reach addicts so WhatsApp groups are a natural channel. What they do is like an ongoing event purely for raising funds (no different to a one off unity day but it’s ongoing with new products being launched). Surely people can scroll past if they’re not interested? People often post the same meeting multiple times but we just scroll past and don’t make a fuss. Really surprised to witness this chain of comments and see someone removed.
- I think its a load of old bollocks personally. This is a watsap group and people can post CA related stuff if they wish. If it’s not to your liking…scroll on. Its really that simple…surely?
- Subsequently, a member asked for a group conscience. No action has been taken.
Also, I appreciate Trustee Laurence contacting Rich to add him back to the group. There was more argument and Jason proceeded to block Rich. This post below prevented any resolution.

I would like to follow up with the question I asked during the IT Closing report please if I may regarding having our daily reading of A Quiet Peace available to members to read online on our CAUK website.
I was asked almostt 2 years ago to look into this by a member and it has been a very slow process, often with me receiving answers that I dont quite understand.
Would it be possible for you to give me a clear answer as to why it is such a difficult situation please. That way I can explain to members of CAUK at the Post Conference Assembly as I really am quite at a basic level of understanding around systems etc.
I understand that it costs money with the new royalty agreement and I was helped to this understanding by one of the IT committee members.
But would you please help me, let the members know what we have to do to make this a reality.

It’s with a very disturbing observation that myself, a few others and my sponsor I was somewhat in disbelief that they were selling condoms with the CA logo on as well as the 13th step written on them. It’s of my understanding that this is certainly not on the list of merchandise/memorabilia that we are permitted to sell. Amongst other things I believe this was very thoughtless, inappropriate and outside issue and endorsing bad behaviour with 13th step but even without 13th step still not good. I write this so this can be addressed so this is acknowledged and members/committees do not slip into the idea that this is ok. Picture for reference.

I am a WSD. It is my first year as delegate. I have served at GSO level in the 90’s. When my wife and I returned to serve CA in 2017 (class of 93) we noticed there were no meetings inNorth OC. It has been a passion of ours to bring meetings back to a place that it is needed.2 months or so ago We chose the Anaheim Alano club and a place called Recovery Road asI have known the manager of both facilities for 28 years. First we were denied a starter package, then we were told that the meetings couldn’t be a meeting until it was approved by area. That is not what the PI pamphlet says ” You too can start a CA meeting” then they said we needed a GSR and secretary before it goes on the website. they stated the use of the name and logo needed to be approved, it does not. although we did have an issue with a “likeness” on 2 of the fliers, it was rectified immediately. the WSM states on pg. 13 a CA group defined herein may use the name, logos and tag lines for the purpose of promoting and operating a meeting.At the last GSO he asked a member to do a report on who can use the CA logo, and then read the statement of purpose and misread it. it clearly says who NEEDS approval is any purpose outside a regularly scheduled meeting needs written approval by him after a vote by our GSO! to top it off they approved a CA logo on a shirt that uses the coca cola swoosh after his committee (PI) said at conference we were no longer to use the likeness!! my wife and I were the only ones that voted against it.Now about social media. First my chair said I could not post Recovery Road opening onthe OC Facebook page. It has never been an official OCCA page. There is no moderator andno statement of purpose. Recovery road is a resource center for addicts and alcoholics.Food bank clothing, detox locations etc., computer services as well as all A’s meetings there. There was free food at the grand opening (who doesn’t like free food, even at 28years I do). My chair openly on a comment asked what that had to do with OCCA, I said itsa resource for newcomers. Furthermore, He has posted a AA twelve step meeting in thepage as well as jokes about a free helicopter ride and a yacht dinner… bring helicopter and yacht He has called for a group inventory, has shared our text messages with others. I emailed our whole GSO about our position and what the WSM says and he still is refusing to let our webmaster post the new meetings.I assume he forgot what our primary purpose is. Pg 4 of the WSM states other than harming WSO as a whole, these are just suggestions. I am tired of our area being run by an iron fist
