I. OLD BUSINESS
A. TREASURER’S/FINANCIAL REPORT
Mitch reported that the General Services Office has a current balance of $1277.00.
The following meetings still owe money or tickets from the Anniversary Party:
Long Beach – Hank
Harbor City – Debbie
Thurs. Cedars – Veronica
B. TAX STATUS REPORT
Mitch commented that there was nothing new to report.
Mitch suggested that we locate an accountant to work on budget and tax returns before our fiscal year ends in August. Ray volunteered to ask his brother, an accountant in Riverside.
Gil proposed writing the transaction reason on checks for accounting and tax purposes.
C. PUBLIC INFORMATION REPORT
Johnny stated that the C.A. television commercial is finished. Tom Kinney is talking to channels 4 and 7 for airing after the holidays. Mitch will pay Rif, the creator of the commercial, $1.00 by check. Gil will write a thank you letter to Rif.
Johnny recommended that Gil get together with Tom Kinney and learn about working with the networks. Arthur and Johnny will work with him on daytime activities.
Mitch advocated sending Tom Kinney a copy of the minutes of this meeting and Johnny suggested inviting him to the meetings.

C. PUBLIC INFORMATION REPORT (continued)
Barbara reported that the L.A. Times article on C.A. will not appear for another week or two.
It was mentioned that a reporter from Playboy Magazine is writing an article on recovery and is attending C.A. meetings.
Johnny suggested that a file be kept of C.A. articles.
D. TELEPHONE STATUS REPORT
Ray stated that he held his first meeting with the people manning the phone this evening. He gave Johnny a list of the volunteers.
There was discussion on the sobriety requirements for people manning the phone. A motion was made and passed to maintain the 6 month requirement. This eliminated 2 people from the current phone list. Suggestions were made for replacements (Rusty and Tom Kinney) and that some alternates be recruited. Robin volunteered to be an alternate and mentioned Christa. It was also proposed that the G.S.R.’s recruit alternates from individual meetings.
E. NEW YEAR’S EVE MEETING STATUS
Robin said that Tom Kinney will probably be able to reserve the Union Hall at Sunset and Gardner for this event. He also requested commitments from individual meetings for leading the meeting at a particular hour. It was suggested that there be topics for the meetings.
F. AA-CA PARTY
Johnny talked to Doug and Tony and ascertained that it is not an A.A. sponsored event.
There was discussion on whether C.A. should endorse the party. It was decided that Johnny will find out more about it (ie: whether liquor will be served and if C.A. is on the poster)
G. GENERAL SERVICES OBJECTIVES
A motion was made and passed to develop a list of skills that we need, and take it to individual meetings to be circulated and signed by interested parties. The list will include tie following:
1. Typists/Word Processors
2. Accountants
3. Printers
4. Graphic Artists

There will be suggestions to C.A. General Services at the bottom of the page.
Gil will type the list for the next meeting and Mitch will help him develop the form.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. REFERENCES TO A.A.
Mitch suggested removing references to A.A.(except for Chapter 5) and N.A. from our meeting formats and saying only that we follow a 12-step program of recovery. There was discussion and it was decided that it would be voted on at the next regular General. Services meeting of all representatives. Samples of the new formats will be presented.
B. LITERATURE COMMITTEE
Mitch made several suggestions for functions of the Literature Committee:
1. Mitch will meet with Ray and Gil to find out what is currently available and come up with proposals for projects.
2. Provide handouts for distribution at individual meetings
3. Provide the secretaries with an overview of the organization, secretaries’ functions and obligations to General Services, and other pertinent information.
4. Create pamphlets of stories and other topics
a. Tony Shafton may write a 1-page introduction to C.A.
5. Provide mailing labels for correspondence with meetings
6. Develop an envelope for G.S.O. donations and hold meetings responsible for donations.

7. Set a policy for meetings to develop Hot Line lists
It was mentioned that Marshall is a writer.
C. REGULAR GENERAL SERVICES MEETING SCHEDULE
The first meeting of all G.S. representatives will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 1983. Thereafter, they will be held on the first Tuesday of each month.
The meeting adjourned at 10:40 p.m.
The next officers’ meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 1983 at Johnny’s house.
