World Service

Meeting called by Willie O. to order at 8:20pm

People here: Willie O., Roy G., Pia K., Misty L. , Robin W.,

Scott, Bob C., Bob M., Richard L., Zachary H., Lee A., Ken L. ,

Neal B.

Minutes of last meeting were read by Pia K.

Misty L. read Santa Barbara radio article re: convention- a lovely article.

Old Business: Gil would like approval to write letters to report who attended world service business meeting at Convention, approved by board. Scott (acct.) stated we will have more money than $5,000.00 as stated before. Lawrence is giving up treasurer, when replaced.

Bob M. Public Relations commercial from Tom Kenny has not arrived—Gil M. has copy and will give it to Willie. New phone # necessary. Dr. in Inglewood, requests starting kit format.

Literature: Misty nothing new to report on. Newsletter has all info. Just needs time to organize it. Newsletter announce how much money we received from each group or state. With # of meetings in that state. List all meetings if or if not contributing. Misty passed around to read some articles for approval. Robin asked Ray to make list of state, cities, how many meetings. Ray said okay. Gil suggests to go softer with monies published instead of show who doesn’t give money to produce quilt. Robin questions if THE LINE is N.A. name-need to research the name more.

Office – Misty has an offer for an 800 # from the phone co. 714, 619, 213, 805, state wide or national. National is $80.00.

We can make our own number. Check on all costs, for incoming calls only. Willie states it could be a problem if we picked up # and then dropped a hospital could pick it up. We could keep trace by knowing who is here, and if abuse happen we can find out who will be abusing it. L.A. General Service will split costs. Neal will follow up and check all charges. Lee A. suggests World Service needs own office—Willie suggests “One day at a Time”

Business Report: Scott

Willie suggests high interest acct. Scott – What is it being used for? Approved Fed and State are exempt Corp. Establish a budget and when it is going. Budget should include literature, chips, phone, rent, office equipment. Record keeping should be transferred into L.A. We read a computer. Willie says long term iden.

Scott has offered to set up a 12 month format for next meeting committees need to estimate how much they will need as a suggestion. Scott will file for returns, he needs receipts – for all checks given out. Forms will have to be signed, they will be ready next week, hopefully.

Robin states L.A.G.S.O. will like to share computer w/ W.S.O.

Zack, is what kind of computer important? to make sure it will not be dated. Consultant should be brought in.

Bob M. — there is an IBM computer. Pia asked about 2nd basket pass for W.S.O.

L.A.G.S.O. is giving 10% of L.A.G.S.O. money to world service, stated Bob C.

Ken L. suggested we adopt A.A. policy. 60-30-10%-, Willie new policy is needed on World Service contributions. Ken L. has information, will give it to Willie. Misty suggests a combine office with 2 offices for both L.A.G.S.O. and W.S.O. to share in future. Ray asked for budget from Misty for office costs. Ray asked for budget from Misty for office costs.

  6. time and resources necessary for active trustees Ray has an 8 page report on this.

Zachary suggests 1 year, with increase in time as C.A. grows of age. Ken L. – members on good standing should not be taken off because of future increase of sobriety time. Lee A. says as we grow we can change it. Zack suggests 1 year now with sliding scale of every 2 years adding another 1 year of sobriety.

Neal B. Jennifer wants corporation papers to incorporate NY~Scott will make up all copies and send to N.Y.
