COCAINE ANONYMOUS WORLD SERVICE OFFICE

Minutes of Board Meeting

May 24, 1991

ATTENDEES:

  • Pam K.

This Board meeting was held at the Anaheim Marriot and called to order at 10:50 a.m. wth the Serenity Prayer.

The First Tradition was ready by the WSO Board.

Carrie C. read the minutes from the May 9, 1991 Board meeting. Brian N. made a motion to accept the minutes as amended. Steve L. seconded. (Motion Passed)

Steve L. was welcomed to the CAWSO Board of Directors as Treasurer.

As of this date the Cocaine Anonymous WSO Board of Directors consists of the following officiers:

  • Chairperson: Pamela Kelly
  • Vice-Chairperson/WSO Trustee: Bill Zimmerman
  • Secretary: Carrie Calderone
  • Director: Brian North
  • Treasurer: Stephen Levine

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

OFFICE REPORT – David C. (not present-report attached)

Steve L. read David C.’s report to the Board. Pam K. reviewed David’s accountability list.

PUBLIC INFORMATION – Todd C. (not present – no report)

Carrie C. informed the Board that the PI Committee had met on May 11, 1991 and completed a large mailing consisting mostly of responses to the Reader’s Digest article.

PUBLICATIONS – Bill Z.

A pamphlet consisting of hotline numbers will be compiled by Carrie C. and published in lieu of a world Services directory until such a meeting directory can be created after the 1991 World Service Conference. An explanatory paragraph will inform the fellowship that this pamphlet will be CA’s interim directory.

Pocket card for “26 Tips” and “Meeting in a Pocket” will hopefully he finished by the 1991 Conference. Graphic Advantage is closing and a new printer must he located.

Newsgram – Nancy is resigning as editor. K.D. McC. will coordinate it for now. Bill Z. felt this would be a good time to combine the Connection and Newsgram.

WORLD SERVICES DIRECTORY – Bill Z.

A list of hotline numbers will compiled and formulated into a pamphlet. (see publications report for further info)

FINANCE REPORT – Ray G. / Steve L.

Steve L. will draft a letter to areas that have not recently donated to the WSO.

In the interim, Carrie C. will draft a letter and contact Printing Square of Malibu to create a donation form that will be sent out with June 5, 1991 mailing to delegates. Bill Z. made a motion to give this project a $50.00 budget for the design of the form. Brian N. seconded. (Motion Passed)

LONER’S GROUP – Helene H.

Pam K. will talk to Helene H. regarding coordinating the Loner’s Program with the new office manager.

OLD BUSINESS:

OFFICE MANAGER – WSOB

Eight appointments were scheduled for May 18, 1991 but only five interviews were held for the position. K.D. McCann was reinterviewed at the WS Convention. Steve L. made a motion to hire K.D. as the new office manager. Bill Z. seconded. (Motion Passed)

Bill Z. made a motion to place K.D. on a 90 day probationary period with a review immediately afterwards and to give her a 30 hour work week at $12.50 per hour. Carrie C. seconded. (Motion Passed)

Carrie C. will meet with K.D. at the WSO within a few days to orientate her to the office.

K.D. will also be sent to a DACEASY seminar. Additionally, K.D. is to maintain her own personnel file with the WSO Board maintaining a duplicate personnel file.

A locked file cabinet for the WSO will be maintained by Steve L. in July 1991.

Pam K. will work on establishing an employee file for K.D. including:

  • Hours
  • Salary
  • Benefits
  • Vacation
  • Sick time
  • Review Dates
  • Job Description
  • Application/Resume

All applications and resumes submitted by other office manager prospects will be turned over to Carrie C. for archiving.

LITERATURE COST LOG – David C. (not present / no report)

DAVID C.’S REVIEW – WSOB

Not done yet. We are still waiting for his draft of his job description.

WSO CONVENTION TABLE SCHEDULE – WSOB

All board members were assigned shifts at the table.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
