4. Convention Committee

A. CAWS 2000 Phoenix—Hal

WSBT is receiving Committee minutes consistently. Memorabilia proposals are also being discussed. Discussed accounting for CAWS fundraising has to be forwarded to WSO, and will be discussed at next Committee meeting. Hal needs to contact Conference Committee Chairman John Rosa in New York and report on next conference call as part of his WSBT Conference Convention Committee duties.

Some issues regarding expenditures, i.e., Broadway shows, are being discussed. Investigating a way to begin taking early hotel reservations as the Hilton is unable to take room reservations prior to one year due to their computer system.

8. Internet Committee – Leon

Committee has been quiet. With approval of OSC (On-line Service Committee), have established 2 GSRs plus an alternate with hopes of eventually becoming an area. Fifteen web sites have come under review from the Committee, making sure they follow guidelines. Question has come up regarding Co-Anon links being up on area web sites, although the link was erased from CASWSO site. Will check with David regarding email-meeting guidelines. Several chat rooms have arisen, but have been advised that they cannot be related to CA.

9. Literature, Chips &Format Committee – Walter

Received 4 pieces at conference. Have established a LCF Committee Document Tracking Record. Chair was disappointed that these pieces were not reviewed by WSBT at November meeting. A Storybook Sub-Committee has been established to review any possible new stories aiong with existing stories for 2nd Edition. Reprinting will be done by end of this year. 6. Starter Kit Follow-ups – Meredith

(Leave on Old Business)

According to WSO, WSBT members are getting a copy of the letter being sent with the Starter Kit, the information about the person requesting it and quarterly reports on all requests. Noted that copies which should be sent to delegates, are, in some cases, being sent to the wrong area delegates and/or retired delegates. A copy should be sent to the delegates in the area and if no delegate in the area, then certainly the Trustee.

7. WSBT Officer Selection Procedure – Amy

Tabled.

8. WSBT Communications – Andy

Tabled.

9. Co-Anon Relationship – Amy

Tabled.

10. Seating arrangements for WSBT at Conference – Amy

Tabled.

11. Service at CAWS Convention as a Trustee & Office Board – Meredith

Tabled.

12. Trustee Responsibility Guide – Meredith

Discussed proposed Guide.

MOTION PASSED to table.

13. Internet Web links – Leon

Discussed opinions of some that if address is printed on CAWS website, may as well put up the link. Discussed variety of sites that have links to CAWSO. Leon will prepare a referral, to be approved by WSBT in a Conference call, to the Conference Internet Committee. Meredith noted that according to prior WSBT Minutes, it listed several reasons why not to use a form letter to respond to such links. Would like to see the following, developed by Amy, a) a strong letter urging to cease and desist and b) a milder letter indicating that due to our traditions, a link to our page is nice, but to please add a disclaimer to their page and that we cannot link from our page to their page.

14. Policy on Hope, Faith & Courage international Sales – Meredith

Tabled.

15. WSBT Minutes Distribution – Amv

Will give the preliminary notes from this meeting to Andy and he will email to WSBT and provide final draft within 30 days. Agreed to send Approved November Meeting Minutes & handouts by April 2, 2000 to Andy for review prior to his forwarding to WSO for distribution.

16. Referral 003

Getting the long form of the Twelve Traditions written and approved for use at meeting, district, area and world levels as to give clarity of the traditions.

The WSBT has already requested AA approval and is still waiting to hear from AA World Services. Will follow-up with Steve to get copy of letter and contact AA to be discussed on next conference call.

17. Referral 035

To implement the position of an International Trustee to address the needs for CA in foreign countries for the still suffering addicts and to develop specific ways to start CA meetings internationally.

This is being discussed in Long Term Planning.

18. Referral 129

Request to adopt Twelve Concepts Illustrated.

Will follow-up & discuss on next conference call, combined with item #16.

19. Referral 045

It has been said that CA has a “special relationship” with Co-Anon. This implies that Co-Anon is not just an “outside organization” which would be dealt with by Traditions 6 and 10 but that Co-Anon has some unique status with respect to CA. Exactly what are the boundaries of this “special relationship?” In particular, may CA service groups and committees refer “friends and family” to Co-Anon when they seek help for “their” addicts.

Amy has gone over Tradition 6 and thinks that other books such as “Bill Sees If might give more background and clarity. The letter and spirit of Tradition 6 does not include Co-Anon. To do something to help our loved ones find their own program, through a link, is within the spirit of what we do.

MOTION PASSED that WSBT allow WSO to address questions raised by families and friends of addicts by supplying the 800 # and web address for Co-Anon. Spencer abstained.

20. Referral 064

Extend the term of the Trustee or realign it to end at the second quarterly meeting following the conference. This way they can provide follow-up with all the work created from the WSC and it would also allow the outgoing Trustee to work with the incoming Trustee for 6 months.

Tabled.

21. Referral 066

To make available the video presentation shown at the 1999 CAWS Convention in Milwaukee for Public Information and H&l use. Trustee legal committee – copyright issues concerning the use of the music and people’s faces.

Amy has investigated the possibility of getting clearances or songs and actors and has been unable to reach the parties involved. Advised Amy to contact Bridgett & Quinn. Tabled until next meeting.

22. Referral 131

To provide this 1999 Conference with a job description of the Trustee at Large. We declined to fill an open TAL position due to not having a job description at the 1997 conference. It has been two years, and we are going to fill an open TAL position this year. Please explain to Conference why we are going to fill an open position this year and if we do, why do we not fill the second open TAL position? We announced that the WSBT would be filling the second Trustee at Large position at the next conference.

There is a general description of the Trustee at large position on page 4.2 of the WS Manual. The WSBT have been attempting to provide more detail to that description. In the interim, the need to fill all the addict Trustee positions has become clear.

Have reviewed the first draft of the Trustee Responsibility Guide at this meeting and are continuing to work to its completion. Need to advise conference that there are real reasons why we need the position and the status of the task at hand.

MOTION PASSED to table until discussion of Long Term Planning.

One set has been given to WSBT; the other one is being prepared.

3. Newsqram

Expect to publish next week. There has been a problem with the mailing list addresses. Have been making calls requesting each Area’s Central Office address, but no response has been received. Have been struggling to comply with Committee’s request. Asked the WSBTs help in contacting Area Chairs and requesting them to call Ed at the WSO, to provide an address that, preferably, won’t change, to which the Newsgram can be sent. Will request meeting at CAWS 2000 to follow-up on CAWS 1999 discussion.

4. Internet

WSOB wants to set up meeting at CAWS 2000 to review issues that surround the internet, i.e., cease & desist, where finding considerable violations, emails, etc. Leon would like to get tracking on emails, i.e., how many are from friends and families of addicts.

NEW BUSINESS

1. CA Self Test literature piece – Andy

Do we want to make this available to anyone? Meredith will advise WSO that any approval for use needs to be decided on a case by case basis.

4. Trustee Procedure Manual – Meredith Completed. See item #2, Old Business.

Concerned with reciting Lord’s Prayer, due to diversity of religions in fellowship. Some feel excluded, even with Serenity Prayer. Perhaps should have a silent prayer of each person’s choice. Discussion on various alternatives.

Set time for next meeting on Sunday, March 5, 2000 at 8:30 a.m.

MOTION PASSED to adjourn at 10:30 p.m.

CAWSBT REGULAR QUARTERLY MEETING MINUTES

The regular quarterly meeting of the CA World Service Board of Trustees, at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, was called to order at 8:35 a.m.

1. Quiet Time & Serenity Prayer

2. Roll Call

Andy White – Pacific North Regional Trustee – Chair
Spencer Barton – Midwest Regional Trustee
Amy Beech – Atlantic North Regional Trustee – Corporate President
Meredith Glaser – World Service Trustee
Hal Kelly – Southwest Regional Trustee
Walter Johnson – Atlantic South Regional Trustee – Vice Chair
Leon Mason – Trustee at Large
Joe Stephens – Pacific South Regional Trustee – Corporate Vice President

Absent:
Susan Turbull – World Service Office Trustee – Corresponding Secretary

3. Reading of the 12 Traditions – Meredith

NEW BUSINESS continued…

6. Long Term Planning – Andy

A. Trustee at Large

Need to refine description to have a defined role, would like to get input from all Trustees. Walter will work on gathering information and work with Leon and Meredith to present to WSBT. TAL could lighten the workload of some Regional Trustees, so that they could spend more time focusing on their region. Researching the WSBT Minutes and all the Motions (Meredith) and organizing the archives could be two items that could be better assigned to a TAL. Could work directly with Public Information and become more proactive to reach out more to the people who need us.

TAL should serve the whole fellowship. Noted that in the past a sort of condensed “chatty” version of the Minutes was printed in a newsletter to give updates to the fellowship. Could organize a CA web page with a section regarding Trustees, i.e., similar to NA’s web page, with archived decisions and letters to fellowship describing the goings-on of WSBT. Noted that all Trustee positions are evolving.

B. International

Would like to see growth in Canada and Europe, with, perhaps, a Canadian or European Trustee. Need to consider the number or members in these areas prior to considering representation by a Trustee, rather than simply a geographical area.

Would like to pass on Long Term Planning Chair to Walter.

7. CAWS Convention Bids – Meredith

Refer to Conference Convention Committee to begin bids 4 years out.

8. PSA Tradition Review – Meredith

Have not established a procedure where the Trustee reviews the PSAs. Believe it now goes through PI, but not sure if they have the 12 point review process. Discussed being reviewed by a Trustee.

MOTION PASSED to refer to all Conference Committees, to adapt the 12 point approval process for ail publications, including PSAs and instructional videos.

9. Fundraising Policy – Leon

Need to establish a policy on opportunity drawings, especially in regards to CAWS. Need to consider non-profit laws. Can sell through registration packages, to abide by the city laws. Would like Amy to write up a proposal for an opinion of the WSBT to give to fellowship on how to conduct fundraising. Like to see the raffle restricted to the vicinity or locale of the convention. Consensus vote to continue with CAWS 2000 Raffle on April 2nd, with no changes on how it’s being done. Andy will speak with WSOB Chair Scott as to WSBT consensus.

10. Area Internet – Leon Tabled.

11. WSBT Expense Reimbursement Procedure – Meredith

Agreed to email the info to WSBT

12. Meredith’s Attendance at August 2000 WSBT Meeting & Conference – Meredith Meredith will try to attend a day during the WSBT Meeting and one day of Conference.

13. SIRS Mandarin Letter – Meredith

See attached report. Want permission to publish “To the Addict” in their publication with our copyright

MOTION PASSED to vote in an email this week, after investigating web page (www.sirs) to make an informed decision. Noted need decision by April 12th, 2000.

14. Standardized Regional Trustee Reports – Andy Tabled.

15. Long Term Planning Committee Assignments – Andy See New Business, item #6.

16. CAWS – General – WSO, WSBT, Host City Committee Relationship – Andy Tabled.

17. Babysitting – Joe & Meredith

Concerned with CAWSO, Inc. liability and need for insurance coverage at CAWS Convention. Consensus that there be no babysitting at CAWS 2000 provided by the fellowship.

18. CAWS 2001 Pre-Registration Coordination – Amy

Committee wants to be able to take hotel room reservations prior to hotel being able to take reservations via their computer. Decided that it’s adequate to put a note in the Newsgram that hotel reservations can be made after a certain date.

19. Review of 4 Literature Pieces – Walter

Reviewed pieces and don’t see any tradition violations.

Helpline – Concerns with continuity, i.e., the flow and with the “don’ts,” sobriety requirements, but otherwise, fairly good.

Traditions Group Inventory – Tradition 6, think first three could have better questions, don’t necessarily refer to the tradition.

Anonymity – Seems too close to the original AA piece

A guide to the 12 Traditions – Tradition 3, content interpretation

MISCELLANEOUS

Continue to work on draft of Procedures on CASWO’s specific needs when negotiating hotel contracts for CAWS Conventions and CAWS Conferences. Continue to collect data from previous CAWS Conventions and CAWS Conferences. Researched Raffle/Opportunity drawing: I contacted our pro bono attorney, a tax attorney and several other attorney’s regarding the legal restrictions pertaining to raffles/opportunity drawings as a fund raiser. I was informed that each City, County and State have individual laws pertaining to raffles/opportunity drawings and the only course of action would be to contact each City,

County and State to determine the laws and acquire what ever permission or documentation necessary in order to sell raffle/opportunity drawing tickets or chances.

Logo Registration: I contacted our copyright attorney regarding the extent of registration of our logo particularly pertaining to the block letter “CA” in any style of writing. The attorney informed me they are indeed registered. Consequently, CAWSO, Inc. will be requesting people using them without permission to cease and desist.

Responded to a request from “SIRS Mandarin’’ (an electronic database print resource publishing company) which would like to include “To the Addict” in their electronic databases.

15 of these sites came online after the conference in 99

There are 4 online meetings ongoing, a participation meeting, a 12 & 12 study, a big book study, and a women’s stag. Two meetings are being operated from A2, one from CT, and other WS

Only three websites have the Co Anon link

The Online Service Committee now consists of 2 voting GRS’s elected by each of the meetings. Each meeting also has Alt. GSR’s. The GSR’s are spread across the US and include one from Canada and one from the UK. Each meeting has a business meeting where group concerns are discussed and sometimes referred to the OSC.

The OSC have chosen to operate under the WS Manual guidelines for an area. They are considering petitioning the conference as new area. They are asking for direction.

After doing a search words Cocaine Anonymous on a number of search engines it is my opinion the office is going to need a committee to help out in the improper use of our name.

Atlantic South Regional Trustee 1st Qtr. 2000

Summary Report

This quarter in the Atlantic South Region things has been rather quiet. I have been in touch by phone, as well as in some cases by e-mail, with each active Area in the Region. The most gratifying experience of this past quarter was the opportunity to do more than a dozen follow up calls from starter kits requested across the region.

I have attached a copy of the most recent communication sent to the Region. Below is an overview of some of the meetings and happenings in our region by areas.

• Alabama: 24 open meetings and 6 H & I. Meetings have strong support with lots of participation. There were several starter kit follow up calls made this quarter to this Area.

• Arkansas: 35 open meeting and some H&I. The reports via phone and email are that the Area is doing well.

• Florida: 61 open meetings and 18 H & I with 8 Districts. Several starter kits follow up calls made this quarter to this Area also. The Panhandle District will be hosting the next Regional Convention in April 21st – 23rd, 2000.

• Georgia: 40-43 meetings. I have been in touch with the delegates and have plans to attend their Area meeting in April. Starter kit follow up call made to Auburn, GA.

• Louisiana: 62 open meetings and 16 H & I. There are 6 Districts and the ASC meet Bi-monthly. Several starter kits follow up call made this quarter to this Area as well.

• Tennessee: 18 open meetings and 8 H & I. I will be attending the Tennessee Area Convention in Jackson, March 10th -12th, 2000. Starter kit follow up call made to Knoxville, TN.

Area Chairs, Delegates, and Fellowship at large,

The Atlantic South Regional Convention, the place we hold our Regional Assembly is just a few months away. I look forward to working with all of you collectively as well as individually at this year’s Regional Assembly. The potential growth experience at this level of service is one you certainly will not want to miss. Those of you who won’t be attending for one reason or another will surely be missed.

May I ask, if you haven’t already, that each of you take some time to poll your area for any questions, comments, or concerns which may translate into issues that need to be addressed by the Regional Assembly. This of course might include, but is not limited to, talking with members of the various groups and districts in your respective areas about what goes on at the Regional Assembly. This would also serve to give more CA members an understanding of what the Regional Assembly is all about.

In addition, let’s all try to review the section in the WS Manual that states the suggested function of a Regional Assembly We will be selecting nominees for the trustee slate, so please have all resumes on hand. Each of the last few years, having resumes on hand as stated in our WS Manual, has been an issue. So I ask that all the Area Chairs or designated Delegates make a special effort to have this information on hand for their respective Areas. This would certainly encourage a much smoother flow of the process.

With all that said, I want to encourage all that receive this communication to please share it with as many other member of our C.A. Fellowship as possible. After all, we want all of us to have access to all of the information.

Again, I look forward to seeing ail of you in a few months. The information about the Regional Convention is listed below. In the meantime, if I can be of help to any of you, please don’t hesitate to contact me by one of the means listed below.

LotsaLuv2UalI,

Walter J.

The WS Convention is fast approaching and we have a lot of work ahead. I’m sure most of you are aware of the fact that we will be selecting four new Trustees at the 2000 WS Conference. We will be filling the currently vacant Trustee at Large position, in addition to replacing the Pacific North (PN), Pacific South (PS), and the World Service Office Trustees (WSO). We have a possible six candidates from the PS, four from PN, along with the top two candidates from each of the remaining four Regions. In addition, we will also have those candidates submitted by the CAWSO Board to fill the WSO Trustee position. Yes, this can be between 18 and 22 candidates to interview. This will certainly take some planning and coordination from all members of the Trustee Election Committee (TEC).

First off, I need to know that email is an effective means of communication for all of you. Please let me know that you got this message and if you can commit to timely email responses (few days). If you can’t then I need a current phone number and mailing address for both yourselves and your alternates. In addition, I will need to know each of your anticipated times of arrival or availability for TEC interviews.

Summary Report

TEC (cont.)

Although all Regions have not held their Assemblies yet, below is a list of those candidates currently on hand. Hal, I will need to know the TAL candidates from the Midwest, thank you. Depending on attendance at the CAWS 2K, we may be able to interview the WSO candidates, some of the TAL nominees, and most of the Pacific South slate. I would suggest that since we are taping all interviews that with a minimum of two-thirds of the TEC present, we do as many interviews as possible at CAWS 2K. Thanks to Steve Amelotte and the CAWS 2K Committee, we have a room set aside for our interviews. It’s a Boardroom that seats 20 and it is blocked out for at least Saturday night. Considering 30 to 40 minutes per interview with possibly 8 to 10 candidates, we’re looking at about 6-8 hours of TEC time needed at the Convention.

The candidates are as follows:

Atlantic North- none submitted to date (TAL Candidates)

Atlantic South- none submitted to date (TAL Candidates)

Midwest- none submitted to date (TAL Candidates)

Southwest- Danny Falcone, Robbie B., Wanda Ayres, Randy Groen Pacific North- none submitted to date (TAL Candidates)

Pacific South- David Choate*, Elisabeth Saldebar*, Mark Keaser, James McWhorter, Carla A., Deneen Grant (no resumes received to date)

World Service Office- none submitted to date

(TAL Candidates*)

Since all the TEC Members have email access, we will be scanning all resumes once they are submitted and emailing theses to the TEC Members. The Interview Questions will be emailed to each of you as well. This is certainly an opportunity to cut cost of mailing out as many as 330 resumes. If for some reason the electronic distribution of the resumes does not work, we will resort back to snail mail.

Please continue to forward me your respective regional information as it becomes available.

Summary Report

Literature, Chips, and Format Committee

We received the following pieces for review at the fourth quarter Board Meeting:

  • LC&F Public Information Committee Helpline Handbook
  • Traditions Group Inventory
  • A piece on Anonymity
  • Guide to the Twelve Traditions.

In light of my absences at the last WSBT meeting the above pieces were not reviewed. They are scheduled for review at this meeting with an immediate response sent to the committee.

There was some confusion with regard to the handling procedure of stones from the fellowship received on behalf of the Storybook Sub committee. It was decided that the WSO would hold all stories they received sealed. The LC&F Committee would review this handling procedure at their meeting to be held at CAWS200.

SOUTHWEST REGIONAL REPORT

March, 2000

The general state of the region appears positive. Most every state has now been visited by the Trustee, and there appears to be growth amongst the areas. As you all know we are hosting the World Convention in Phoenix, this May and you all have been included on the mailing list from the committee. There seems to be some concerns, none of major proportion and the biggest area being that of opportunity Drawings and Babysitting. The Hotel is beautiful and I hope your in shape, for it is a lot of acreage to cover.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Denver, Withicta, Oklahoma City, and Phoenix/Tucson. Texas, being my own area has a lot of stuff which I’m sure we will discuss.

Are meeting count remains relatively the same in the region with increased meetings in Texas. I will be visiting Alberqueqe and Santa Fe, hopefully this quarter. A highlight by state reveals that:

New Mexico – They now only have 22 meetings and still have the three H&I meetings. They’re in need of some sort motivation to get reintregated, and it appears their morale is low. Both Steve A. and I will be setting up a weekend to visit soon. I have not much to share about that area.

Colorado – The area appears to be rebounding graciously from there conflict reported last meeting. I met with Aaron and the folks in Colorado Springs and they have mended their hurts. Robbie was not present an unable to be contacted. Denver remains a bolstering area with over 40 meetings and now 10 h&I meetings. I spoke with LaDonn, and he appears to be genuienly remorsrful and getting help with his personal issues. They have accepted the bid to do SW Regional Convention 2001, and are pushing for Colo, Springs.

Kansas – Had a good visit. Both I and Danny Falcone went up and did a workshop as well as participated in their Area meeting. Focus on their district concerns surrounding being recognized as a Area, and how they can handle this. 1 informed them that they already are, and will work with them to meet bi-annually to accomplish this goal. They have agree to select a delegate from Topeka, as to get representation in that district. Kansas is hosting the Regional Convention and is progressing well. They have secured hotel and plans are done. Much action surrounding power brokers in the area and we presented the World service Manual and how to have an informed Group, to assist in the understanding of the structure of a Area/District. There has not been much growth in the amount of metings, 20 and 8 H&I in outlying areas there appears to be 1 or 2 in Lawrence and alike.

Arizona – Arizona is a seasoned and maturing area. Continues to focus on H&I penetration while maintaining their level of 123 meetings. They have 68 H&I meetings and seems to be a good recruitment ground for their fellowship. Tucson appears to be the growth area though. Pilar and her gang are popping with enthusiasm and appear to be the fundraising arm of that Area, They had a excellent New Years Fundraiser I attended, and the turnout was great.

They are also hosting their State convention in July. Again, Convention is their main focus right now.

Texas – There has been some struggles with current leadership and we hope to resolve them through the Trustee. There have been numerous concerns brought to the Trustee in regard to their Area Chair. This has been subverted to myself as the problem and I accept. Notwithstanding the Area is growing. The Two New districts are upcoming and developing. It is the intent to bring to the Area a symposium on the world service manual to educate the group as well as assist the members of that area to derive their own level accountability to the groups. They are encouraged to attend CAWSO 2000, and the meeting count remains similar with Del Rio, Austin, Kerrrrville , South padre and others coming on. The Area may be fighting , but; we will prevail as there seems to be some genuine elders to help this group along. The total Area meeting count is around 185 caring and sharing meetings, with better than 30 H&I meetings

Humbly Submitted,

Hal Kelly

PACIFIC SOUTH TRUSTEE REPORT

March 2000

LOS ANGELES AREA. 130 Meetings

There are approx. 45 H & I Panels in the greater LA Area.

ORANGE COUNTY AREA. 20 Meetings

H & I Serves the Area with 25 Panels including, the State Prison System & 3 Jails in the County.

The GSO meets once a Month to do the Business of the Area as well as give the Meeting GSR’s a chance to bring Information, Chips and Lit: back to their meetings. As well as communicate local events. One example being the annual campout on the beach at a State run camp ground in Central Cal.

Participation at GSO level has improved over the last 3 Mo. but the fact that the GSR attending are doing more of the work seems to be making up for the lack of warm bodies. The Area also held a very profitable and well attended bowling night

There have been many conversations of late regarding the affect on the local fellowship now that the standing Chairperson of the GSO is no longer living in the State, but does fly in for the Area Meeting. After much discussion, this Chairperson has given up his role and the vice Chair has taken over.

Orange County still has two local members attending the State Corrections Panel Guidelines Meetings and is reporting back through Interarea.

SAN DIEGO AREA. 13 Meetings

This Area has a total of 14 Meetings and has their GSO Meeting the first Monday of the Month.

Meetings as well as GSO involvement have fallen off over the last few Mo.

The area is also planning fundraising for the CAWS 2000 Convention in Arizona.

And the Area is going to be the location for the SGPV Convention next year.

CENTRAL CALIFORNIA.

Central California still has over 15 Meetings and is planing their fourth

Convention in Goleta Ca. Last year’s convention was changed to a series of fundraisers. The area is very strong on H&I and started two new Meetings.

San Gabriel Pomona Valley Area. 51 meetings

The area has over 50 Meetings Weekly H & I has over 32 Panels serving the SGP Valley.

They have also added Chino State Prison to the list of new panels.

GSO Meeting held 2nd Sunday of Month.

The Area is planing their Convention again this year, and has voted to change the location to San Diego to include more of our fellowship. Some members of the GSO voiced the opinion that the San Diego Area should have been contacted first, to avoid event conflicts, as well as promote unity before any vote was taken. The Area sent people down to the San Diego Area Meeting regarding this change and the two Areas are holding discussions regarding the commingling of funds.

The area also, with the help of LACA rewrote local Convention Guidelines. They gave me a copy of the new guidelines, to look for any Tradition problems. These were fine and were returned to the area for use.

Inland Empire

The Area has over 15 Meetings throughout the Inland Impire.

And has started a new AM meeting, the response to this has been very good. The area is building up in the San Bernardino area, and meetings in the Riverside Area have fallen in number, however over all the meeting count has staying the same. There are going to be 3 Delegates at this conference. The area is going to concentrate on PI at the conference, because this is an area that is weak at the local level.

H & I have built up the number of Panels by 4 that brings them to a total of eight.

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY AREA: 42 Meetings

The area has 42 Meetings throughout the Area.

There are some 35 Panel’s that serve the Area.

There has been some conflict regarding the rights of the GSR’s to be involved in process of voting on financial matters of the Area.

The Area has not been able to get the 51% of GSR’s to attend an Area Meeting in order to change this ruling in the bylaws, to date. This discussion has boosted attendance at the GSO by 1/3 over the past three meetings. It has also gone a long way in opening the discussions regarding our leaders being trusted servants, and not governing! A long over due, and healthy discussion. This item has been placed on old business for the last two Mo. For further discussion.

CLARK COUNTY NEVADA AREA: 12 Meeting

H & I Now have 3 Panel’s serving the Area.

P & I is still working on A Radio Spot.

12 Meetings through out the Area. Up by 3

Had a very successful H & I Day again in Aug:

Working on other fundraisers to bring Del: to conference.

On going plans for 3rd Convention in Vegas.

ITNTERAREA

The Interarea Meeting is held six times a year in the city of Long Beach. Each of the eight Areas with-in the Pacific South Region elect a Representative to attend and bring to their Area information from the other 7 Areas.

They also hold a Regional Event called Campvention in April Located in Lake Perris CA. Money raised at this event is then Shared by all eight Areas and the World Service Office.
