WORLD SERVICES
MINUTES JULY 25, 1985
The July 25 meeting of Cocaine Anonymous World Services Board of Directors, was called to order by Willie O. at 7:58 p.m. The meeting was attended by the board of directors of both World Services, and Los Angeles General Services. Richard read the minutes from the last meeting.
The members of the board of World Services had discussed the need to have a combined met ting with General Services, to talk about problems relating to both services. The firs’ problem discussed was the upcoming General Service Convention. Robyn asked the World Service Board members if they were willing to lend financial support to back the convention, if General services needed it. Michael suggested General present World with a budget , and Robyn said they would. It was pointed out that when World Services put on their first annual convention in May of 1985, that General Services had loaned World three thousand dollars to operate with. It was proposed that World set the same dollar amount, Willie made a motion to vole nn the proposal, Richard seconded the motion, the proposal was approved.
The phones were discussed in detail. Richard suggested turning all business related tails that come into the office over to Robert, our Public Relations officer, arid he car deal with them accordingly. Michael suggested logging all incoming calls. Misty said that was tried, and was unsuccessful in the past. Willie suggested a list of simple instructions, that the volunteers could refer to when they had a question about who a call should go to. Calls should be recorded, and a monthly report compiled for our records. Willie also suggested the possibility of a paid employee in the near future, who would be paid by both World Services and General Services. Michael volunteered to work with Zack, who is currently in charge of the phones, in order to come up with some sort of guidelines and instructions for the phone volunteers. A meeting with the volunteers is also being planned. Ray pointed out that the phones are the mainline to Cocaine Anonymous and the way they are answered is a direct reflection on us. If it becomes necessary, we may even need to consider scaling down the number of people who answer the phone so we provide quality service.
New business was discussed regarding World Services and General Services. Linda brought up the fact that General Services is not making a percentage contribution to world at the present time of the money taken in from the meetings. In the past the contribution was ten percent. The members agreed that it is still ten percent. Robyn announced that San Diego wants to open a Central Office. He proposed turning the matter over to World Services. Agreed. At this point most of the members of the board for Los Angeles General Services left, mutual business was finished.
Old business. Gil wanted to know what was going on with CBS. Willie hasn’t been able to get in touch with Paul Goldberg, but assumes that he consider the issue dead. Willie is still planning to call him, to let him know the results. Ray suggested that we turn the issue over…. (next page is missing)
