COCAINE ANONYMOUS WORLD SERVICE OFFICE

MINUTES OF JULY 12, 1990

Attendance: Pam K. , Mary C., Bill Z., Bunny B., Bob B., Reggie L. Nancy Sue, Jay W., David C.( Mitch B.,Ray G.

Meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. with the Serenity Prayer. The 11th Tradition was read by Bill Z.

Bunny read the minutes from June 14. Motion was made to accept the minutes with corrections. Seconded and passed.

First order of business: Helene H. has resigned (see attached letter) Pam K. has been appointed as temporary Chair until the WSO Conference in August 29,1990,

WORLD DIRECTORIES – David C,

David introduced Mitch B. as co-chair. The cut off date for the directories is July 15. David said that part of their job is to update hot lines and state counts. David spoke with Major Graphics and they charge over $1.00 for printing the directories. David is also going to get an estimate from Graphics Advantage. Mary suggested that the new directories be put in the binder for the Conference.

CONNECTION – Bill Z.

The graphics company is ready to receive information regarding combing the Connection and the Newsgram.

NEWSGRAM – Nancy Sue

Everything is the same and her cut off date is July 18.

Nancy Sue and Bill Z. asked for more support in order to meet deadlines so they can be published in a timely manner. They intend to publish four times a year.

PUBLIC INFORMATION – Jay W.

  1. Jay handed out a letter to go out to people in the fellowship who are unable to get out to meetings. See attached letter. There was a motion made to accept the letter with corrections. Second and passed.
  2. Is there a committee where the 800# falls? What happens to places that do not have meetings or hot lines numbers? Should information about Loner’s be given out? There was much discussion. Loner’s information should not be given out at the 800#.
  3. P.I. is looking at a national P.S.A. (see attached). Bill made a suggestion that they work with NBC and MTV due to

their policies.. Bob C. suggested trustee approval for any of this to be done. There was a motion made to pursue and explore these areas, Bob C. will contact CBS. Motion was seconded and passed.

4. Mark A. wants to know how long is his term? Pam suggested that PI work on some structure on officer rotation.

5. Jay asked for a vote confidence for an aviate grade PSA, Point of clarification from Ray! G., that this matter needs Conference approval.

SPENDING COMMITTEE – Mary C.

It has been difficult for Mary to get people to be of service and is asking for help. Ray G. and Mitch B. volunteered.

Ray suggested that Mary get the delegate list from Southern California and might get help from there.

LONER1S – Pam K.

WSO received a call from a woman in Saudi and there is concern regarding censorship, so Pam has written two letters one to the woman in Saudi , and the other to go out to the Loner’s and Loner sponsors so the womans name can be deleted from the mailing list, David will mail out these letters ASAP. Also the mail did go out and Jay did do the generic Loner letter and also suggested that a registration form be sent out. Pam asked that people write a brief letter sharing experience, strength, and hope, for bulk mail so Loner can get more than the Connection and Newsgram. Pam would like to put out an information letter to all area chairpersons of the Loner program.

TOTAL CASH IN BANKS (ALL ACCOUNTS) $55,078.75

Mary would like to open a payroll account for the purpose of segregated tax withholding from daily operating funds. There was a motion made to open a payroll account. Second and passed, (see financial report). There was a motion made to move $25,000 from the ’90 Arizona account to the ’90 Conference to bring the account up to $31,000.00. Second and passed. Quarterly financial statements are to be mailed to the delegates 30 days prior to the conference.

There was a motion made to look at three quotes on binders, there was discussion. Friendly amendment that Ray first needs to contact Helene for clarification on what is needed. This was second and passed. David is up for his two year review. There was a motion made to prepare a review and bring it to the board for approval. Second and passed. Mary asked for help in prioritising her reports for the trustee meeting and the conference.

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. Pam will contact Helene regarding ongoing projects.
  2. The new literature is on the way.
  3. Nothing to report on computer and printer. Reggie suggested that WSO continue to get bids. Pam asked Bill to make contacts. Reggie will give specific to Bill so he can get price quotes.
  4. Order forms and pocket cards will be ready by the conference.
  5. Are starter kits being followed up? David asked for a form letter for follow up after starter kit has been sent out. Bill asked David to present a letter for board approval.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Spanish translation: Pedro Madrano has volunteered for free and he will be contacted ASAP,
  2. Mary’s review?

Meeting was adjourned at 9:40 PM with prayer
