I. OLD BUSINESS
A. TREASURER’S REPORT
Mitch reported that the current balance In the General Services account Is $883.68.
Mitch stated that we currently have a tax Identification number. He mentioned that members can deduct up to $1,000 In contributions to Cocaine Anonymous.
B. PUBLIC INFORMATION REPORT
Gil reviewed the progress on his projects:
1. Interview with a newspaper In El Paso, Texas
2. Received a copy of his telephone Interview with KYXI Portland (a cassette)
3. Discount for use of Parks and Recreation facilities is still pending. He mailed a letter to and called Mr. Hadaway, the head of Recreation and Parks Department. Hopefully, he will know something by the end of the week. He may be able to contact a person named Terry for help.
4. C.A. stationary is now available.
5. National Directory complete except for one N.Y. meeting.
6. C.A. received 3 pieces of literature from San Francisco C.A. These were given to Francie.
7. Interview for San Fernando Valley Dolly News – magazine section.
8. Had a meeting with the producer for H.B.0. He took notes for a possible program.
9. Gil and Robin attended a luncheon with the heads of treatment programs. They met judge Franciscus from Pasadena who was very supportive, and provided him with Fact Files and meeting
Directories. He will refer people to C.A. Also, an outgrowth of the luncheon was a potential for 2 more meetings. The Wednesday Glendale meeting was voted In.
10. Wrote thank-you letter to Rift
11. Atlanta now has the C.A. name reserved. Started kits For new meetings were sent to Joe Powers.
12. Tom Kenny is making TV spots for San Francisco to use.

13. Newsweek Magazine Is doing an article on cocaine recovery. The reporter came to the Tuesday Kaufman-Broad meeting and will be going to Ray’s Thursday meeting.
14. Area code is on the Hotline.
15. No news on Playboy.
16. Monroe High School – no speaker.
17. The “Daily Journal” will be contacted tomorrow morning.
18. KPRO never did a 20-second spot – sent a 10-second spot.
19. Canadian Broadcasting Corporation will be taping a meeting and interviews on Friday, February 17.
C. NATIONAL C.A. STATUS
Gil said that he would have copies for the Board by the next meeting.
D. TRADEMARK SEARCH
Nothing has been done yet.
E. LITERATURE COMMITTEE REPORT
Mitch said that Gil had talked to Francie about literature.
The “FIRST THIRTY DAYS” pamphlet has been approved by the G.S.R.s.
Robin mentioned that the cover art is at the designer’s. They will get It back possibly Friday night. He is hoping to have it together by the next monthly meeting. He talked to Marshall about printing.
A motion was made, seconded, and passed to put the C.A. name and address at the bottom of the front covers of all C.A. literature.
It was suggested that a goal should be to actively recruit a printer. It should be announced at the next monthly meeting.
F. OFFICE MANAGER’S REPORT
Ray reported that the other phone line will be disconnected this week.
Ray handed out a new phone list and rules. He mentioned that the phone usage had increased due to the commercials, requiring 16 to 18 callbacks per day. He said that more backups ore needed because Julie is dropping out, and they should have at least l year’s sobriety. Ray provided the Hotline volunteers with a new 12-step list and secretaries’ list.
Ray stated that he is gathering copies of all printed materials and having new directories typed up.
The Indexing of his volunteer lists was lost with his attache case.

G. SPORTS COMMITTEE
John 0. explained that he contacted group sales at the FORUM regarding Lakers tickets for either March 15 or April 11 (Portland Trailblazers). He can’t get loge tickets. He said he could get $9.50 tickets for $7.50, a total of $375 for 50 tickets. He will see if he con get them cheaper. It was suggested a bus be chartered and flyers created for the people attending. A motion was mode, seconded, and passed to sponsor this activity.
John investigated bowling alloys and sold they were unavailable on Friday and Saturday nights. Pickwood is available for a large group on Sunday mornings only. He will check on prices.
John announced that there will be a softball game at Stoner Park on Saturday, February 25, at 10 a.m. It was suggested to start a regular softball game, perhaps monthly.
Suggestions were offered for other sports activities:
1. Dodger tickets
2. Pool Halls – family billiards
3. Square dance
4. Volley ball
John mentioned that CA Is on the mailing list for FORUM group tickets.
H. MEETING CHANGES/ADDITIONS
Gil announced a new meeting starting on February 29, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Glendale Care Unit. It Is open and will Include patients.
Gil discussed a possible Friday midnight meeting. The owner wants of all contributions after expenses. It was agreed that a flat rate Is required so Gil will contact the person and make the offer.
Johnny S. mentioned that a Saturday meeting Is starting this Saturday at Santa Monica Hospital.
A Sunday 7:30 p.m. meeting has started at Daniel Freeman Hospital In the Marina.
Santa Barbara and New York are starting meetings.
A Friday noon meeting. Is started at Coast Federal Savings.
Arthur has set up n March 1 start date for the Gardena meeting with roving secretaries.
Johnny S. might be starting n Monday evening meeting in Hollywood.
Tom Kenny is working on a meeting in Sherman Oaks.

Barbara reported that the Long Beach meeting has no official secretary. Robin will contact Hank, and Barbara will go to the meeting and get names and numbers of Interested parties.
I. C.A. PARTY
Johnny S. said that he and Pia will get together to organize this event for May 1. It will probably be held at Felicia Mahood Senior Citizen Center again. Gil suggested having a panel speaker from San Francisco.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. C.A. RETREAT
Robin explained that Bud of Clare Foundation suggested having a retreat at a retreat house In Pearblossom. It has 33 beds, would cost $65 per person and Is available for 3 days on March 25,26, and 27.
The Board discussed the retreat. It was agreed that It should be a General Services retreat with 1 representative per meeting. It was suggested that three beds be given to Orange County. In the event the C.S.P. or secretary could not attend, the secretary could appoint someone. Johnny will call Bud and notify him that he will be In charge of organizing the event.
B. FILMING OF MEETINGS
Filming meetings was discussed, and it was mentioned that it caused friction at the last meeting filmed as there were many newcomers.
A motion was made, seconded, and passed to go ahead with Friday’s filming, and then to stop filming for an indefinite period. This will be mentioned at the next monthly G.S. meeting.
C. COCANON
It was brought up that COCANON got new members from C.A. secretaries mentioning it In their meetings.
Jeanine from COCANON requested that the COCANON phone number be put on C.A. directories and that the secretaries mention It In their meeting It was suggested that Jeanine call A.A. and find out what their policies were towards ALANON.
A motion was made, seconded, and passed to have COCANON announced at meetings and on the HOTLINE, and the phone number be put on the new directories.
The meeting adjourned at 9:55 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 1986 at Johnny S.’ house.
