I. OLD BUSINESS
A. TREASURER’S REPORT
Mitch reported that the current balance in. the General Services Account is $1,182.75
B. TAX STATUS
Mitch announced that the IRS had approved the C.A. application and that Fresno will issue a non-profit tax ID number.
Mitch recommended that the G.S.O. recruit a person with accounting background to handle the tax reporting.
C. NATIONAL C.A.
There was discussion on the national status of C.A. Johnny S. suggested that the General Services Organization accept donations nationally and send these groups literature and chips.
Gil will start calling the out-of-county/state meetings regarding their status, and offering them C.A. materials.
Mitch suggested hosting a national meeting in June or July for the states’ meeting representatives.
Mitch will confer with additional lawyers on the issue of national status (Lc: requirements for status).
D. CHIPS
Robin will contact Tosh in regards to acquiring C.A. chips and will report to the board at the next meeting.
E. PUBLIC INFORMATION REPORT
Mitch mentioned that he sent Fact Files and Meeting Directory

to a group that helps lawyers with drug and alcohol problems. They will refer calls to Mitch. He will contact the ”Daily Journal” for spaces for a C.A. ad.
Robin sent Fact Flies to 5 alcohoL diversion plans and the L.A. County Alcohol Commission.
Playboy magazine is writing an article on recovery.
Gil will begin contacting newspapers and magazines regarding space for C.A. ads.
F. LITERATURE COMMITTEE REPORT
Mitch discussed the formation of the literature committee with Janice. He gave her AA literature, topics, and phone numbers, and requested that she present a progress report in 30 days.
Gil brought 2500 “TO THE NEWCOMER” pamphlets and distributed part of them to the board to take to individual meetings.
Gil distributed Fact Files to the board.
G. OFFICE MANAGER’S REPORT
Ray stated that the new phone system is functioning smoothly. The message will be changed due to meeting changes.
Gil will get an office key next week.
H. ATHLETICS COMMITTEE FEPORT
John 0. will schedule a meeting with. Neil and Steve to plan activities (ie: interleague, or with A.A. groups, softball, volleyball, etc.)
I. NEW YEAR’S EVE MEETING
Robin mentioned that most of the arrangements have been taken care of, and preparation is progressing smoothly.
J. ABSENTEEISM
There was discussion on absenteeism from board and General Services meetings.
K. SKILLS LISTS

mentioning G.S. objectives in the individual meetings, standing up and handing out the forms, and mentioning that volunteers are needed.
L. MEETING CHANGES/ADDITIONS
A new Women’s Stag meeting is starting on Thursday night.
Gil announced that a place in Torrance needs a secretary for a meeting.
Daytime meetings are needed.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. Ray said that Tom Kinney did a radio interview for KPRO Riverside on “Cocaine in the Motion Picture Industry” – He gave out the Central Office phone number and Ray’s home phone number. The president of KPSO wants copy for slogans. Members of the board will meet after this board meeting to create a list of slogans. Gil will call the station. It was agree*! that Ray could use the old C.A. announcement on his home phone. He will also be starting a meeting in Riverside.
B. Robin stated that he is meeting .with the manager of KCET next week, he will take her a Fact File, offer the C.A. commercial, and C.A. members’ availability for filming.
C. Arthur mentioned that the Thursday Cedars meeting is having financial difficulties. A motion was made and passed to take a vote at the General meeting on paying a portion of rent for 4 consecutive weeks.
Arthur will report to the board on the status of the meeting’s financial situation.
The meeting adjourned at 9:03 p.m.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on January 11, 1984 at Johnny S’ house.
The next General Services monthly meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3. 1984 at Beverly Glen Hospital.
