Teresa N. reports for WSOB:

CLOSING REPORT

C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2012

WORLD SERVICE OFFICE REPORT

INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS

Your World Service Office acts as the main contact and distribution point of C.A. Contact with members, Groups, Districts, and Areas is sustained through correspondence, newsletters, e-mail, the website www.ca.org, and representatives within our service structure. The WSO Board is charged with reviewing and publishing all WSO publications as well as monitoring and authorizing spending throughout the fiscal year. The World Service office is a center for communication, coordination, information and consensus on the wide variety of special projects being worked on year. It’s a central repository / bank of archival information and the collective experience of all our fellowship, so we can always draw upon it as we continue to grow.

The World Service Office is YOUR resource for all things C.A.

But beyond that, the World Service Office is a place where we – the staff and an Office Board – believe in what we are charged with by this Conference. Our WSO staff loves C.A. as much as you do, and we work hard each day, sharing our skills and dedication, to support you in getting the message of C.A. out – and to support anyone, anywhere in the world, that wants what we have.

We are ever grateful for your allowing us to serve.

COMMITTEE WORK THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

None.

REFERRALS THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

None.

REFERRALS OR ITEMS TABLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR; AND ITEMS THE COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THROUGH THE YEAR

  1. Referral # 6866

Create a process to distribute the follow-up drug court information to the delegates of the respective areas or in a timely fashion.

Response: Thank you for your referral. The WSO will add this to our list of items to include in our process and procedures book, which is currently under construction.

  1. Referral # 7087

109 Approved – REDACTED

Please consider implementing a Conference “Cloud” Yahoo Group or other online storage facility we cold access throughout the Conference to upload, read and share reports and other materials. It could be password protected and participants could be given their online credentials in their packets or at the beginning of each day’s session. We could save a lot of paper, toner, time and effort. Thank you.

Response: Thank you for this referral. The WSO is working with the Conference Committee and the WebServant on this project.

  1. Referral # 6933

Drug Court, Proposal 36, 2 diverson. How does CALA get the Superior & Municipal Courts in the CALA area to refer to Cocaine Anonymous Los Angeles? Should there be a “Rep” from CALA to attend National Drug Court assemblies? Is there Area individual system to meet with the “supervisors” of judges for input to refer definitions?

Response: Thank you for this referral. The WSO will work to identify Areas that are currently working with their local Drug Courts in order to gather information that could be helpful to other areas interested in establishing such a relationship and to offer contact information to areas interested in such knowledge.

REFERRALS OR ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES; WORLD SERVICE OFFICE, OR BOARD OF TRUSTEES None.

REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS

  1. Referral #5767

110 Approved – REDACTED

That the committee develop a basic set of guidelines for forming a District, including a notice of intention to form a District, so that no Area will be unprepared for this transition and growth.

Response: Thank you for your referral. Please refer to page 18 of the WSM for instructions on forming a District. If you have further questions, please consult your Regional Trustee for assistance.

  1. Referral # 6549

Please provide a large print version of our readings and especially the WSM in the delegate mailing and on ca.org. Thank you

Response: We love this idea. The WSOB is sensitive to its members with low vision, however, at this time, our resources are limited and, therefore, it is not feasible for the WSO to print our literature in large print in hard copy. For digital formats, you may adjust your display settings on your computer.

  1. Referral # 6867

That the WSO make available old connection & Newsgram articles for reprinting in area newsletters. This doesn’t have to happen all at once!

Response: Thank you for the referral. As reported in our opening report, all NewsGrams and Connections are available for viewing on ca.org from 1997 to the most recent edition. The Archives committee is still in the process of scanning all prior editions in order for those to be accessible to the fellowship. Please see the Archives Committee for opportunities to assist in this endeavor.

111 Approved – REDACTED

  1. Referral # 6869

That the 3 new PSA discs be made available to the Fellowship for shipping and handling only. The PSA was produced with donation dollars. The WSO should freely give back to those who made it possible. This will encourage more 7th tradition donations!

and

  1. Referral # 7067

Please make our new PSA available at the cost of the media only (price of DVD or at no cost for downloadable version). As our primary purpose is to carry the message please ensure that there are no restrictions on doing this. Please avoid trying to recoup the initial production cost or using the PSA to provide any revenue.

and

  1. Referral # 7068

The fellowship has already funded the making of the PSA. Please make it available as a free download. I am sure this PSA if distributed widely will increase our fellowship membership and so will increase our tradition #7 revenue income.

Response: We appreciate and are excited about the above referrals. As a result of a motion that was made and passed within the WSOB Committee, the WSO has made available the PSA, as presented on the Conference floor, in all three languages, for download from ca.org for free, with instructions on how to obtain the PSA in different file formats for televising, to be available at our cost.

CLOSING COMMENTS

I would like to personally recognize and thank Elizabeth S. for all of her dedication to this Board and to the fellowship. With her hard work, the WSO was able to move forward many of our previously pending projects. We are grateful and we will miss you.

I would also like to thank our acting WST, Richard S., for stepping in, a second time – for supporting us and for providing another voice on our board. We are deeply grateful to you for your service.

Richard L. – thank you for serving as our WSOT for the last two years. Words cannot adequately express my appreciation for your service in this manner. We look forward to your continued service as a Director on the Board.

The WSO is proud to announce that the new PSA is available for viewing and download for free at ca.org. We will make television/publication formats available at cost. Please contact the WSO for further details.

The WSO is working with the Archives committee to produce two additional commemorative chips each year over the next three years, to be released based on a schedule provided during the 2011. Additionally, the WSO is pleased to announce new discount pricing on the two existing chips.

113 Approved – REDACTED

The WSOB is excited to enter into uncharted territory as the hosts of the 2015 World Service Convention. It is my pleasure to announce that we are currently seeking resumes for the Convention Chair Position. Because the WSO, the representative of the world-wide fellowship as a whole, is the “host area,” resumes will be accepted from any member in any Area of the fellowship of Cocaine Anonymous. A flier has been created and we ask your assistance in soliciting good, qualified, experienced candidates. We would also request that assistance of local members of non-English-speaking Areas with translating the flier. For further information or questions, and to request a resume form, please contact the WSOB Chair.

Again, I would like to thank the fellowship for allowing us to serve you. And, to remind the fellowship that a financially sound future, capable of supporting the work with which you have charged us, will rely heavily on increased sales and increased 7th tradition donations from the groups and areas in order to fund our activities.

Respectfully Submitted:

Teresa N.

World Service Office Board Chairperson
