CLOSING REPORT

C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2012

World Service Board of Trustees (WSBT) REPORT

INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS

Opening Comments

On behalf of the World Service Board of Trustees, we thank the fellowship of Cocaine Anonymous for the opportunity to serve. It is an honor and a privilege to

37 Approved – REDACTED

perform our duties and responsibilities as outlined in the World Service Manual. We continue to oversee and handle the business of CA with awe and appreciation of those we serve. This Quarter we have worked through our agenda items, completing them, and addressing new items that have come to our attention. Moving forward we will continue to educate those that cross our path about this program of recovery; through the Traditions, the Concepts, and our Bylaws.

Committee Introductions

Brian T. – Midwest Regional Trustee
Kenny W. – Atlantic South Regional Trustee
Terry M.– Pacific North Regional Trustee
Russell S. – European Regional Trustee, WSBT Secretary
Richard L. – World Service Office Trustee
Robert L. – Atlantic North Regional Trustee
Richard S. – Trustee at Large, acting World Service Trustee
Joy H. – Pacific South Regional Trustee, WSBT Vice Chair
Randy G. – South West Regional Trustee, WSBT Chair

COMMITTEE WORK THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

None

REFERRALS THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

None

REFERRALS OR ITEMS TABLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR; AND ITEMS THE COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THROUGH THE YEAR

The WBST regrets that we could not address the following referrals as we were actively working on the Trustee Election process, with our assigned Conference Committees, as well as WSBT business that came up during the week. We will

38 Approved – REDACTED

work on the referrals throughout the year, and they will be included in our opening report at next year’s conference.

Referral #5817

Our Area bylaws conflict with 12 Concepts and 12 Traditions. How can we as an Area conduct our business without violating 12 Concepts and 12 Traditions if our Area Service Board does not want to recognize this problem and continuously state that our bylaws supercede the 12 Concepts and 12 Traditions. Some of us understand that any Area bylaws should be formed under 12 Concepts and 12 Traditions and bylaws should not conflict with such, as our ASB goes against this.

Referral #6590

Is it possible to adjust our 11th tradition to include “internet” after television?

Referral #6645

Can guidelines/questions be crafted for the Trustees to use at the Regional caucuses when filling the Regional slate? Example: Do you serve on your Committee throughout the year? Do you write quarterly reports to your Trustee? Do you meet all requirements?

Referral # 6860

What is the reasoning be in C.A. policy of displaying, distributing or selling only WSC approved literature. Could a group use other A.A. literature?

Referral #7065

From Jean Marc L. submitted by Valerie C.

39 Approved – REDACTED

Referral # 7091

What is C.A’s policy regarding the use of youtube as a means of reaching other addicts? Are there any issues regarding the use of youtube as a media to publish public service announcements on their own? If there are no issues are there any guideline? Can we use if locally?

REFERRALS OR ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES; WORLD SERVICE OFFICE, OR BOARD OF TRUSTEES None

REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS

None

NEW COMMITTEE STRUCTURE AS OF THIS CONFERENCE Chair – Terry M. – Pacific North Regional Trustee Vice Chair – Russell S. – European Regional Trustee

Secretary – With the large turnover in this year’s WSBT transition, it was determined to be in the best of the interest of the WSBT to leave the Secretary position open until the new WSBT reconvenes.

CLOSING COMMENTS

The WSBT would like to thank the fellowship of Cocaine Anonymous for the privilege and honor to serve this fellowship. We would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the individuals participating in this conference for their tireless efforts here at the conference and throughout the year. We believe our fellowship is in great hands and we are excited about the future of C.A.

Respectfully Submitted:

Randy G.

South West Regional Trustee, WSBT Chair

40 Approved – REDACTED
