REFERRALS THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

There were no referrals that resulted in motions.

REFERRALS OR ITEMS TABLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR; AND ITEMS THE COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THROUGH THE YEAR

  1. Referral # 4300 – Change the Mock Debate, use something more realistic,

AND

Referral #4675 – Please update the Powerpoint presentation for New Delegate Orientation to (a) correct the name of the Literature, Chips & Format committee and (b) reflect the updated language on the WSM regarding Delegate responsibilities on Page 23. Thank You!

Response: We will continue to work on these items throughout the year.

  1. Referral #4671 – Ice Cream Social. Last year, some members of Unity liked the idea. So let’s have one.

Response: The Conference Committee will research the feasibility of this as far as cost, time and interest over the coming year.

  1. Referral # 4775 – Delegate Communication:

Suggestion to supply delegates (especially those who haven’t the opportunity to participate at Conference) earlier with information. We had an Area meeting June 21. The Delegate package received at the end of July. Hence no time to inform Area of Conference matters.

Suggestions: Provide delegates with Conference Report via email in a year the Conference was held and inform delegates about what information they need to submit to WSO.

Response: We will work to coordinate throughout the year with the World Service Office to address the mailing needs of foreign Delegates. We will also work with the World Service Office to make Delegate mailings available electronically.

REFERRALS OR ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES; WORLD SERVICE OFFICE, OR BOARD OF TRUSTEES

  1. Referral #4197 – ALL subcommittee guidelines and workbooks to be clearly labeled as: “Approved by WSC 2007 (exempt). This would allow members to see they are working from correct literature. Can the CAWS Unity Committee unify our committees on this subject?

Response: Referred to the World Service Office Board.

  1. Referral # 4352 –1 am submitting this proposal to establish a new World Service conference Committee. With the support of the 2007 WSC this new WSC Conference Committee’s main responsibility would be to handle the task of WSC approved literature language translation. It may be named “Translation Committee.”

A new Translation committee could start this year to begin to take on the task of literature translation. WSC members from other countries or in the US who speak/read/write other languages may be interested in joining such a committee. They can start translation our already approved literature and submit a budget for professional proofreading & editing, set translation approval procedure, like the older AA and NA fellowships have established.

Recently, the WSC Public Information published and distributed to the fellowship an International Public Information Survey. When asked, why

this one page piece is not available in other languages, I was told that due to several factors (i.e., there just was not enough time, not enough financial resources, nor enough available translation resources to make it happen this time).

I feel our critical Cocaine Anonymous literature needs cannot be accomplished in any current WSC committee or subcommittee thereof. We should not delay what is already an overdue outreach need to our brother and sister cocaine addicts throughout the world.

Response; Referred to Structure & Bylaws.

  1. Referral #4786 – Please include the LCF Guidelines, approved at the 2006 Conference (and as may be updated) in Delegate notebooks for future conferences. Thank you.

Response: Referred to World Service Office Board.

  1. Referral #5106 – Please add a new section (with tab) in delegate notebook for WSBT reports.

Response: Referred to World Service Office Board.

  1. Referral #5116 – Please clarify or give a description regarding the word “commitment” (in the “Delegates Duties & Responsibilities” in the World Service Manual. Which is referring to the line that “suggests” a WSD should not hold any other “commitment.” Is this referring to a “termed office” or a local district/Area “once a year” event commitment. Response: Referred to Structure & Bylaws.
  2. Referral #5238 – increase the conference committee budget to provide the conference secretary and the recording vendor an uninterrupted power supply to minimize the effects (i.e. data loss, wasted time, possible irretrievable business) of power surges or interruptions.

Response: This was addressed during Committee work throughout the year and has been instituted for the 2007 World Service Conference.

NEW COMMITTEE STRUCTURE AS OF THE END OF THIS CONFERENCE

Chair: Kim Sherwan
Vice-Chair: Scott Botz
Secretary: Brian Tenebaum
Coordinator: Deborah Botz
Co-Coordinator: Tammy Peacock

CLOSING COMMENTS

In closing, please take the time to complete the evaluation form regarding this year’s Conference. Forms will be available at the back of the room. We truly appreciate your attendance and participation at this Conference. I am extremely grateful to be the Queen Poobah of this group of subservient individuals especially the Big Ole Nuttin’. But seriously folks! We’ll be here all week! Or at least until 2:00 a.m. Keep coming back!

Truly, I love you guys! A special thanks to those who have completed their service commitments at this Conference and are rotating out. We are very grateful for the service of Leslie Groter to the Conference Committee over the years.

I’d like to have Deborah Botz announce the location for the 2008 World Service Conference.

Finally, this Committee extends well wishes to our incoming Co-Coordinator, Tammy Peacock, and will continue to keep her in our thoughts and prayers. We look forward seeing you next year…and Remember…Each One, Reach One, Teach One!

Respectfully Submitted:

Kim Sherwan

Conference Committee Queen

Steve Edwards – Any questions? Seeing none, thank you again. We are going to hear from the Trustee Election Committee.

I need to make an announcement. Apparently there was passed out a piece of paper dated with today’s date signed by Dan Sadur. I informed him we’ve given you the information on the motion to rescind and this is debate to be heard from the floor tomorrow. Please disregard the handout.

TRUSTEE ELECTION COMMITTEE REPORT

Earl Henderson – The Trustee Election Committee has completed its task. Kim Sherwan is the new Midwest Regional Trustee. The TEC decided not to fill the Southwest Regional Trustee slot. The Trustee At Large, Bobbie Harmon, will assume the duties for a one-year period. 1 was honored to serve with these dedicated people. We have a delegate from every region in the world. Thank you very much for your service. That completes our report.

Steve Edwards – Any questions?

Dan Santa Maria – I would like to ask for you to explain how you were unable to select a trustee from 2 qualified candidates? How can you say you got the job done?

Earl Henderson – We did get the job done. The WSM explains the process and guidelines.

Steve Edwards – Any other questions? Seeing none, thank the TEC for their hard work. We will now hear from the H&!. Let’s go with Unity please.
