- MOTION: Modify page 11 of the Unity Guidelines as follows:
It is the responsibility of the Unity vice Chair to work with the WSC Unity Chair to create an event at the WS Convention. A suggestion for this is 2 to 4 hour maximum event which should include meet and greet, fun and games, and an educational side concerning traditions and/or concepts.
It is the responsibility of the CAWSC Unity Vice-Chair to work with, or assign an attending CAWSC Unity Member to work with, the hosting CA World Service Convention Vice-Chair or Unity Chair, in planning and coordinating an event that is to take place at the hosting CA World Service Convention. A two to four hour event is suggested which could include any or a combination of the

following: a meet & greet, fun & games, an ice cream social, a traditions and/or concepts workshop… The funding for this event is provided as a $500 line item within the hosting cities budget and the hosting city is to provide accommodations within their programs along with a space appropriate for such desired event.
Stu E. – I was wondering what prompted you to make this change, it seems to be going into micromanaging a unity event. it was intentionally vague to allow for flexibility. It was originally to address the ability to make the committee talk to one another. Just curious why are we getting so tight on the wording?
Tye S. – So, it is my understanding that this came from an issue experienced from the Texas region. At that time I was just stepping into the role of vice-chair of this committee. I was told that yes, it was our responsibility but also that it had never been done and we struggled with the options of what to do. I am hoping this allows a future member in the same position to have more direction to know what to do.
John R. – I think the gentlemen that had asked before me said they left it vague on purpose. I like that this is guidance, I think that the interpretation being left vague is a little crazy. I am in favor of this motion.
Megan B. – I think this might be a question or parliamentary inquiry for the chair. If I see some grammar issues do we point that out?
Trevor S. – You certainly cannot. You can reference this as housekeeping to the Unity Committee
Cynthia C. – I am also the Conference vice-chair, and we had some similar confusion recently, and this addresses the issue of the responsibility of the Unity Committee liaison and as to where the funds are coming from – I speak in favor.
Ernest M. – I speak in favor, the wording, could it say ‘not limited to’ instead of ‘could’?
Trevor S. – You cannot speak to the wording.
Henry A. – Friendly Amendment: to have the requirements and suggestions to be separated from each other to read that you could not do this and can do that.
Tye S. – We do not accept that friendly amendment.
Shelby D. – I was the unity chair – in favor – I think this is a good motion, there was miscommunication between the unity chair and the convention chair and it ended in multiple events.
Trevor S. – Any further debate? Repeats Motion VOTE # 6: for 161 / 9 against. Motion passes
- MOTION: To amend the CAWSC UNITY COMMITTEE REGISTRATION FORM on page 14 as follows:

“Unity is a common bond that transcends all differences. We’ve discovered no matter how different our circumstances or the paths that brought us here, we all suffer from the same disease: addiction.”
It is our hope that you all can continue on from here to participate in your various groups, districts, areas and regions with this live giving principle of unity.
Respectfully Submitted:
Tye S
Susan B. – Would you please use the C.A. block letters in your guidelines and documents in your documents.
Trevor S. – We will do one overall announcement, in a report we will not worry about this. However in all printed material we will ensure that they are used properly. We will keep the comments to the floor limited to preserve the timeliness of the conference.
