Tony D.: Conference opens at 7:35 pm and we are beginning the first session of the 2011 World Service Conference. Good evening and welcome to the 28th World Service Conference of CA. My name is Tony D. and I am your Chairperson. Please join me with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer. I have asked Suzanne from Holland to read “Who is C.A. Member?” Thank you Suzanne. I have asked Ashley from British Columbia, Canada to read “The Twelve Traditions.” Thank you Ashley. Next, Trevor S. will read “The Twelve Concepts.” I want to welcome everyone to the Conference and this is our 28th Conference. Contrary to popular opinion, I haven’t been here for all of them. Our goals are to work on spiritual guidance and I believe that God works through us and we abide by the principles of the program. When the gavel falls on Sunday, the decisions made here will be carried back to your Areas, Districts and Regions. We will now proceed with roll call so please keep conversations to a minimum. Please say your full name, where your affiliation and how many votes you carry. Jenn S. will be passing out the seating chart, so I hope you like your seat because you will be sitting there for the rest of the Conference. Please forgive me in advance because I am not good with names. We will start on my right with Tom. We have 140 votes and quorum will be 94.

Tony D.: Announcements – if you asked about extension cords, please secure with tape. Office supplies on the dais are for our use, please don’t take them. If you have questions, please see Trevor. Please do not approach the secretaries. We will take periodic breaks so please don’t leave here if you can help it. If you speak into the microphone, please speak concisely. Voting is done with your hands – one vote is a fist, two votes is holding up 2 fingers. Please take out your phones right now and turn the phone on vibrate/silent please. We really don’t want to hear them during the Conference. Trevor will review Parliamentary procedures.
Trevor S.: From our Manual, 10th Edition Newly Revised. Why we use parliamentary procedures were read. Pages 70-74 are the broken down version of what we use here of Robert’s Rules of Order.
Tony D.: In order to speak into the microphone, you must be recognized except for exceptions – point of order, parliamentary inquiry, etc. Other concerned individuals may speak at my discretion. All points of information will be taken after debate. If your inquiry is answered during debate, please sit down. Point of information does not count as debate. Please keep your debate to motion on the floor. Making the same point over and over is not a good use of time. We adjourn on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Referrals are placed at the dais by Trevor and do not asked referrals to be distributed to more than one committee. Standing Rules on Page 42-43, please familiarize yourself with them. Keep Robert’s Rules of Order handy. At this time, I want to invite Paul M. up introduce the Conference’s Orientation and Theme.
Paul M.: I have no idea what the orientation is but the theme is “Big Book – $8, HFC – $10, Unity – Priceless!”
