UNITY Committee Report
Introduction and opening comments:
Terry denmark unity chair. This year the conference has ounce again been a learning event for me. On the unity committee i’ve been surrounded by people who want to learn and grow along spiritual lines. Unity is a spiritual principle. Wednesday a fellow delegate said that and it stuck in my mind through this whole conference. I usually go to business meetings trying to practice “principles before personalities”. This year i had a chance to work on my spirituality, thank you ca.

Referral #3685
Every year since 1998 there was a referral by me to have (unity is free) taken out of the unity guidelines committee guidelines. This was passed because our area was under the impression that when you have a unity day event everything is free. The motion was passed to have this removed. The item is still in place.
Why hasn’t it been removed?
Response: the unity committee would like to apologize for the oversight. The statement, “unity is free” has now been removed from the guidelines. The unity committee ask that those who have a copy of this statement located on page 2 (the first paragraph under secretary description). Cross it out of their copy.
Referral #2879

Response: there should be a pipeline of international meeting information. (for start up kits)
All inquires for international start- up kits need to be sent to wso- who in turn send the information to the unity committee via the international outreach subcommittee.
Referral #2689
C.a. world service hold an annual woman’s conference. Location to be determined yearly and bidded upon using the same procedures as the world service convention. To promote growth and unity among the women of the fellowship and as a fundraiser for world service.
Response:
On page 5 of the unity committee guidelines/ duties; the wsc unity committee grew out of a meeting of the “minority caucus” at the 1991 wsc. It was the near unanimous sentiment of the delegates that the bias within the fellowship are harmful to c.a. as a whole. These bias include: (two of which are sexual orientation and gender)
New committee structure as of this conference:
Chairperson: Terry Denmark
Vice- Chairperson: Tish Une
Secretary/ Archives Subcommittee Chair: Shirley Hubbard
International Outreach Sub- Committee Chair: Aaron Jacobson
2004 Conference theme: “united in love and service”
Closing comments:
We’d like to thank Paulette from Alberta for speaking at our unity luncheon! The unity luncheon was a success. We sold 104 tickets and brought in $520.00 dollars. The cost of the luncheon was $403.65, which gives us an overage of $117.98 (1.68 was donation) thank you all who attended. I’d like to thank the unity committee who showed love and tolerance when dealing with me. I’d also like to thank cocaine anonymous for being there when i needed it. Thank you for letting me be of service.
