H&I COMMITTEE
COMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
My name is Harrison R. Jenkins, WSC H&I Chair, with 1 vote at this year’s conference. Our H&I committee was delegated the task of revising the WSC H&I Guidelines and Information manual. The H&I committee toiled many exhausting and laborious hours to complete this project.
Even though the committee did not have many referrals this conference, the H&I members displayed an uncanny vision for the future growth and the welfare of the WSC H&I committee. We worked on numerous projects for the upcoming year. Also, we have created a new sub-committee called the H&I International Outreach.
I am truly honored and grateful to be re-elected as the committee chair for another term. I am overwhelmed to be a part of this committee’s perseverance, dedication, and undaunted service to CA as a whole.

As this project goes into it’s production schedule, we would like to thank all of the members past & present who have taken part in the making of this video. We would also like to thank all that helped raise monies for this much-needed tool, and thank the entire fellowship for their thoughts and prayers on this project. Sept. 19th 2003, Miss Patty & Jahi Boseda will be heading to great state of Florida to meet with one hundred men & women of the fellowship of cocaine anonymous who have answered the call of service, and to be in our video. The H&I Committee has done all that we could do. It is now time to let go and trust. The H&I committee fully supports this much-needed tool and thanks all of you for allowing us to be of service.

Correctional/Referrals Report:

Here is a quick review of this committee’s work. There are two main tasks we work on during the year.
- We try to contact institutionalized addicts who have written the WSO to guide them to our meetings upon their release and/or support their recovery.
- We’re continuing to build our database at the WSO to aid in our outreach efforts as well as to support growth of H&I committees.
This committee has worked on these tasks for two years and we’ve come up with ways to streamline the process. During the year we will be working with the WSO to update a quicker response. We’ve implemented what we’re calling the “cut out the middle man” process, because we want our contacts to be quicker with more immediate help available. We’re looking to do this in a couple of different ways.
First, in all outgoing H&I literature orders we will be including our H&I contact forms. That way, whoever in our fellowship orders H&I literature, will be receiving our request for database info firsthand. This information will help in answering referral #3669 as well.

We hope that with this information the WSO will be able to directly send an inmates letter to an H&I contact person geographically closest to them. We recommend contact protocol to go as follows: If the person has less than a year to go before their release they will receive a local meeting schedule and a contact date set at the nearest meeting spot closest to that date. If the inmate has a year or more before their release date, then a written correspondence can be maintained through the WSO. I can explain this in greater detail if needed at the end of this report.
Secondly, in addition to receiving a H.F.C. Book an inmate will also be receiving a sample of our literature as well as a copy of our CA Info line pamphlet, which has all of the 800 contact numbers nationwide on it.
This way any incarcerated person who writes the WSO, will receive a H.F.C. book, literature and a nationwide 1-800 contact list as well as a sober contact person in their area and a local meeting schedule. We hope these steps will enable us to always have the hand of CA ready to meet the suffering addicts who reach out for help.
Starting just a few years ago, this sub-committee, with the greatly appreciated help of the WSO has been able to make a difference. For example, this letter is just one example of what we’ve been able to do with God’s help.
I have at home, other examples of continuing success stories as well.
We’re excited at future prospects for carrying this message, saving/changing lives and helping our fellowship to grow and flourish.
