II. OLD BUSINESS

PUBLIC INFORMATION

FACT PILE

Gil passed out a draft for review by members.

Motion: To modify “Public Information” section (page 5) to delete portion in brackets and substitute hand-written portion,”Reporters need to bear in mind the importance of anonymity, and are urged to contact the Central Office for either direct information or referral to the Public Information Director.”

FACT FILE (continued)

Motion: In ’’Recovery Program” section (page 6), first sentence, scratch the word “relative” – Seconded, passed.

LEGAL REPORT

The State documents are completed. It cost $227.00 to file. We can file for an exemption to be reimbursed for the fee. As a part of the exemption paper, bylaws have been written. The IRS papers are still in process.

PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE

It was suggested that a Public Information Committed be established, as this is an increasingly important and dynamic function. The committee could consist of three people and have a contact phone number.

Motion: nominate Tom Kinney for chairman (called Public In formation Director) of the P.I. Committee and Claudia as the liaison to the G.S.O. – Seconded, passed.

It was suggested that we ask Tom Kinney to come to one of our meetings.

TELEPHONE STATUS

It was mentioned that we should still be asking for volunteers at individual meetings to man the Hot Line phone.

Ray will call the Public Information Division at selected companies to inquire about the donation of an answerphone to G.S.O. There is a phone that can put messages and answers on the same tape, thus increasing flexibility. It is put out by Phonemate.

A longer tape for the present machine will also be checked on.

MEETING STATUS

MONDAY NIGHT – (Johnny)

Tom Kinney found a potential place, but he is not sure of it yet.

TUES. DAY – (Johnny)

There is a new meeting at noon at the Kaufman and Broad Bldg, at National blvd, one block west of Overland- First floor, Affirmative Action Program.

Fri. Night – Beverly Glen (Ken)

This meeting is OK.

NOVEMBER PARTY

No further news.

C.A. LITERATURE: PERSONAL STORIES

It was suggested that this subject be tabled until November since we want people with a year’s sobriety, and C.A. will not be a year old until November.

It was suggested that we informally discuss this with members.

III. NEW BUSINESS

FILE CABINET

A file cabinet has been delivered to the C.A. Central Office, and it was mentioned that we need to have a copy of every piece of information generated from G.S.O. or received by it stored there. The secretary will be responsible for this function.

NEW MEETINGS

John has names of places for new meetings. In the Long Beach area, Pacific Hospital would like to start a meeting.

SPECIAL SKILLS

It was again suggested that we ask at individual meetings for people with special skills and time to spare to please give their names and numbers.

LETTER TO HOSPITALS REGARDING C.A.

Gil is working on a letter to distribute to hospitals introducing C.A.

Robin volunteered to call hospitals and get the names of the administrators. We would then have a standard business letter prepared and could plug in the administrator’s names.

PRAYER FOR MEETING END

It was suggested and agreed upon that our G.S.O meetings should end with a prayer.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for September 13, 1983 at 7:00 p.m. at Beverly Glen Hospital.
