PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE – OPENING REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:
The Committee would like to thank the fellowship for allowing us the opportunity to serve. We have worked online and on telephone conference calls throughout the year. We all have busy lives, so at times participation has been thin, but we have tried to be responsible to our fellows and to keep up with the work.

REFERRALS THAT WERE WORKED ON DURING THE YEAR:
Our main work this year has been to revise and redistribute the membership survey that you have all come to know and love. The survey is intended to enable us to provide information about who we are and how this works to the media, to the professional community and to other interested parties. We revised the survey somewhat and made an effort to get it distributed more widely than it was in the past. We have also been working on a way to make it accessible through the CAWS website. During this conference we will be aggregating the responses we have received and hope to report back at the close with more or less fancy charts and graphs. We

thank all of you who helped distribute the survey in your areas and have gotten them back to us. Many many…many surveys for us to tabulate. Thank you…really…
We have appreciated the efforts of the World Service Office to iron out the inevitable kinks in making sure that the PSA is available for distribution to your local television stations. More on that later.
We have also been trying to put together a program whereby experienced PI people, both on the committee and not, would provide support to PI folk who need it. This has not gotten very far yet, but look to hear more about this going forward.
We have also appreciated the support and cooperation of the World Service Office and Trustees, who have kept us current on their interactions with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals. We look forward to working together in this area going forward.
We received only one referral during the year and it came to us only recently, so we will address it here.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
Public Information is the bridge to the general public. It is often how people – like me – are attracted to this fellowship that can save their lives. We think this is a critical time in the vitality of CA – in ensuring that it continues to grow and to be there for others as it was and has been for us. We ask that you come and join us in our efforts to get the message out. I look forward to welcoming those of you who join us this year.

Tony D: Any Questions?

AJ R: I have tried to download the PSA and it states I need Quicktime? Is there another way to get it?
Linda F: Quicktime is a free downloadable program… see me…we will help you. When did you try to download it?
AJ R: A few months ago.
Linda F: Check the website now it has been updated.
Cynthia C: Will you be tracking Area response?
Craig A: Yes.
Susan B: Is there a more recent version of the PI handbook?
Craig A: No
Stu E: Are there 2 versions of the PSA? How would I get that version? Can we get a step-by-step document as to how to get the PSA to our local stations?
Russell S: There is a H&I video as to the services offered by CA. If that is not what you are looking for, please submit a referral.
Stu E: Is there a professional version for stations?
Linda F: Yes, there is a professional version. The Office needs the station information from that Area and we will contact the station to find out what format they need it in. We have done 8 to date. An individual can contact the office and we will do the legwork.
Craig A: there is information in the manual regarding step by step directions also.
