C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2012
CONVENTION COMMITTEE
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the World Service Convention is to promote enthusiasm and unity within the fellowship of Cocaine Anonymous and financially support World Services’ effort to carry the message to the addict that still suffers.
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
The World Service Conference Convention Committee (WSCCC) would like to start by asking the Conference to help thank CAUK for hosting a very successful and also the very first World Service Convention in the European Region! We greatly appreciate their efforts on behalf of C.A.
Next up will be “A Splash of Serenity.” We are looking forward to the great recovery and weather in Florida. At this time, I would like to have C.A. members from Florida come up to give us information about CAWS 2013. Presentation was shown.
The city of Long Beach was selected by the Pacific South Region to be the host city for the 2014 World Service Convention – members from the Pacific South Region are here to give the Conference an update on CAWS 2014. Please come up! David Brown gave verbal presentation.
There were no bids submitted for the 2015 World Service Convention so, per the guidelines, the 2015 World Service Convention will fall to the responsibility of the Office. Standing Rule 22: “Each Conference shall select a C.A. World Service (CAWS) convention host area for the CAWS Convention to be held in the fourth

year following such Conference. Each year a minimum of two bids for the CAWS Convention should be presented to the Conference for consideration. If two bids are not received, The Conference may approve a single bid. If a single bid is not approved, the host for CAWS convention for the proposed year will be left vacant until the next Conference. If qualified bids are not received or no host is selected at the next Conference, the CAWS convention for that year will be turned over to the World Service Office and World Service Office Board to plan and execute.” At this time, we invite the WSOB to come up to the podium and make a 2015 Convention Presentation. WSO gave presentation.
The Illinois Area has submitted a bid for the 2016 convention. At this time, I would like to have members of the Illinois Area come up to present their bid. Presentation was shown.
From the Atlantic beaches to the Pacific Ocean, the World Service Conference Convention Committee is excited to help carry the message of C.A. to the world.
During this past year the Convention Committee has been busy working in monthly conference calls to chip away at post-Conference referrals and I would personally like to thank the members for their diligent work in this process.

REFERRALS THAT WERE WORKED ON DURING THE YEAR:
We, as a very small committee, have had to focus on one referral throughout the year. Referral number 6916: “Currently “Spending Committee” is found in the Treasurer’s duties. This should be its own section.”

There were additional 2011 post-conference referrals that our committee was unable to complete during the year. These will be worked on during this year’s committee breakout sessions (6579, 6782, 6817, 6755 and 6754).
CLOSING COMMENTS:
We would like to urge anyone that likes to have barrels of fun to come join our committee at this Conference and be a part of this exciting process with us throughout the next year. It is an honor and a privilege for me to be a part of this committee. Come and be a part of that feeling!

Teresa N.: The WSO has discussed other options, it has decided on Las Vegas. Ernest M.: – re: gambling, has the WSO considered this and the impact on the fellowship and the net gain?
Teresa N.: Yes it was discussed, based on previous experience, we still thought it would be a good place!
Earl H.: Does anyone recall anyone having a problem with the gambling issue at previous conventions in Las Vegas.
Dwight J.: Can CANV be of service?
Teresa N.: YES, I have contacted the Area…and surrounding area…there is recovery in Las Vegas.
