OPENING REPORT C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2008
H&I SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
Jason Smidt, H&I Chairperson: During the course of the year, our former chairperson resigned and the committee elected me as the new Chairperson. Subsequent actions resulted in Mona Ibrahim being elected as the Vice-Chair.
Despite the mid-year changes, the committee members remained committed to seeing that the work got done. Outreach calls were returned from several regions and areas. Referrals were worked on. Conference calls were conducted and we mainly discussed ways in which to promote enthusiasm for H&I programs around the World. We became excited about the idea of developing an H&I Statistical Board/Map for CA H&I Statistics all around the World. The Map came to fruition after hours and hours of tireless work by many committee members (especially Megan and Mona) and our always energetic Trustee Nicholas. This committee believes that H&I is a powerful and critical way for us to reach the newcomer and instrumental in growing new areas and keeping existing areas vital. Our Hope is that you all will stop by our Statistical Board/Map that will be on display during the course of the conference which reflects what H&I is doing across the globe to carry the message! Also, please don’t forget to pick up your “I Love H&I Pin” too.

REFERRALS THAT WERE WORKED UPON DURING THE YEAR:
REFERRAL # 4905: H&I Can Changes
REFERRAL # 3869: Referral #3869: Suggested language change for page #29 of our guidelines about purchasing Big Books, including language for 12x12s. The language was already corrected at 2007 Conference. Page 29 of the H&I guidelines:“10. Purchase literature from W.S.O. using the H&I Discount.”
REFERRAL # 5499: Referral #5499 suggests to add language to our H&I Guidelines that reads: “It Is Further Suggested That All Service Members Attend Local CA Meetings on a Consistent Basis.”
REFFERAL # 3575: The referral was addressing H&I Costs/Numbers. Jason spoke to the writer of the referral and discussed the referral. So this is already being taken care of in our new language for Referral 4905 “H&I Can”.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
We encourage you to submit story/submissions for the H&I Corner of the NewsGram. At this time, we are open to any questions or comments that any of you may have at this time. Remember H&I rocks!!! Please come join us and experience the ultimate high with H&I!!
Steve Edwards – Any questions for H&I?
Kelly Lynch – What is going on with the H&I Can?
Jason Smidt – Suggested use clarification was given to the Conference and the World and we fell short. At the end of the Conference last year, motion to change the language was referred to committee and the language was looked at again. Prior to SR14 filing, we submitted new H&I can language.
Steve Edwards – Thank you H&I Committee.
We will now hear from S&B.
