CAWS CONVENTION REPORTS

CAWS 2026 (Florida) – Justin C.

Highlights:

Registration (4/15/2026): Royal – 238, Sabal – 246, Bismarck – 62

Hotel Pickup (4/2/25): 2147 room nights Total = 546

Greetings to all! As of this writing, just 35 days remain until the CAWS 2026 Convention innsunny Orlando, Florida! It is now so close you can smell it! Don’t forget to pack your swimsuits and sunscreen, although we hope to place the dunk tank in the shade!

  • Late registration is still going on until May 4th, and registrations continue to trickle in.
  • We are continuing to send out blasts through social media and direct email with important information and deadlines.
  • We will continue to utilize the rooming list and social media to send reminders to register.
  • Please note that all financials to follow in this report are only current as of 4/2/26, unless otherwise noted, and do not reflect the total of proceeds accrued since that date.
  • All major categories still remain under budget, and we’re working toward wrapping up any significant spending, and asking that all CR’s be turned in prior to entering May. Lots of dunk tank tickets left for sale so please order them and hand them out.
  • I am redrawing the diagrams of the ballroom on the Hotel’s platform in their preferred platform, hoping that we may not have to submit drawings to Orange County Fire Dept. for an on-site inspection prior to the doors opening.
  • Initial BEO’s are due May 1st, the remaining we’ll have signed on-site. All room sets will be finalized with the General Committees on the day of our last on-site meeting April 18th.
  • Registration is preparing the list of items to be included in the packages and has the tech side of the desk worked out. We’ll still have some printed programs and signs for those who need them. Lots of signs and décor to be placed. Many small details are now emerging and being handled appropriately.
  • We’re at about 100 H&I daily thus far and are hoping for many more.
  • We have the Yapp App and its in test mode with the Steering Committee. Meeting with DOO and both Treasurers and WSOB Chair went extremely well, got some finer points
  • ironed out.
  • We are still in need of more silent auction items and basket items to be donated. Sunday night entertainment will be a Silent Disco.
  • We’ll have more registrations for sure and everyone is looking forward to May!

I’ve been planting seeds along the way for the Pass it On reports, they are due prior to our last General Committee Meeting on June 6th. We’re in the final sprint and everyone is holding up well. Thank you each for all that you do. I am so grateful to continue serving as CAWS 2026 Chair, please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Blessings ILAS

Referral Response:

  • WSOB 2025-04

While reviewing the pamphlets on ca.org, I noticed that the current layout could benefit from a more visually appealing design. I’d like to suggest updating the presentation, similar to the approach used by CMA (link attached for reference). Specifically, replacing the plain text pages with pamphlet images would create a more engaging and user-friendly experience. With the website being updated I believe this would be an ideal time to look at making this change. Additionally, I recommend standardizing the pamphlets in black and white. A clean, minimal design not only enhances readability but would also reduce printing costs for Areas — particularly once Print on Demand is implemented.

April 2026 WSOB Report

Highlights:

  • I participated in the monthly committee meetings and went to the office on a weekly basis. The chair-to-chair call is back on the schedule.
  • Activity level was still high in the last month and I believe that progress is not just encouraging but we have scheduled appointments with consultants and trainers to further our implementation of our platforms.
  • A flurry of focused energy on line has kept Jesse’s check requests rolling and we appreciate everyone’s focus to staying engaged.
  • We’ve got some very important decisions and activity for C.A. over the next few months before the conference, so I am asking in advance for some engagement to reflect the true spirit of service that we signed on for.

As our world can get pretty small some times and things can happen that may effect everyone on the board, please keep in mind that every individual has the right to their personal opinion and ideas. But also keep in mind that everything that is posted and/or said in a public setting of any kind can often disparage the board, its members and the trust of our fellowship. Please be conscious of this with our behavior, both as members of this board and as individuals as well.

ILAS – Randy G

  • Created and enabled automated features to save office employees time.
  • Added a new product.
  • Created a new Shopify app specifically for CAWSO reports. Our needs are slightly different than other orgs, so this should help save time and effort in the office
  • Serverless tools used; host costs are $0. Three customized reports, including grouping quarterly sales by Area and/or Region. More to come as well. This automation (and more to come) will help the office run more efficiently.

  • This was a very large project that required learning new skills and opens the doors to better reports in the future.

Documentation:

  • Slowly but surely, this is coming together.

Added documentation for:

  • Our Shopify setup in Slab.
  • The custom CAWSO Stats Shopify App development, accounts, codebase, etc.
  • This is an open-source GitHub project that embeds directly into Shopify
  • Sexual harassment
  • Required signed documents
  • Monthly WSOB meeting information
  • Where to upload documents.
  • New future WSOB members regarding secure banking and online payment safety.
  • Account security guidelines
  • I could use some help adding documentation. There is a lot the WSOB does and is responsible for, and it’s a lofty task to centralize our data.

Misc:

  • Created colourful logos in a few different languages for a proof-of-concept product.
