Minutes of the Meeting of CA World Service Office Board of Directors

April 26, 2014

I. Opening. Meeting called to order with the “We” version of the Serenity Prayer at 9:25 am by Chair, Richard L.

II. Tradition 1 – Read by Phyllis C.

III. Concept 1 – Read by Jay H.

IV. Birthdays – None

V. Roll call and Quorum Determined

A. Voting Members Present: Richard L. (Chair), Linda F. (DOO), Phyllis C. (Secretary), Laurie R (Treasurer), Frank P. (DAL), Ira L. (WST) & Kathy Jo R. (WSOT). A quorum is established. Adding Morgan to members present.

B. Board Members Absent: Susan D. (Vice-Chair – absent with prior notification). Ira L. (DAL)

VI. Guests Present: David B. and Stan J. with CAWS 2014; Earl H., 2015 Convention Chair and Jay H,(Guest)

VII. Chair Announcement – Chair reviewed WSOB DAL expectations

A. When recruiting for new DALs, be advised it is preferable for them to attend 2 CURRENT meetings of the WSOB

B. A DAL must give up all service commitments except at the local group level

C. A DAL can get reimbursed for travel to/from WSOB meetings, including Board to Board meetings

D. CAWS 2015 – the convention liaisons are the WSOB Chair and the DOO; these are the only persons allowed to speak on behalf of the WSOB

E. Attendance policy: If a DAL misses 3 meetings in a row, they may be asked to give up their position

F. DAL ratification should be called for at least once per year

VIII. Approval of the minutes of the prior meeting

A. Linda F. motions to accept minutes from 04/12/2014 made by Kathy Jo. Seconded by Phyllis. Motion passes.

IX. Seventh Tradition–

X. Guest Reports

A. David B. Report submitted and discussed.

B. Looking for feedback an overflow hotel; Hyatt is willing to negotiate contract with theirbother local hotel but wants a guarantee of 120 room nights at $159/night.

XI. Online Business: None

A. WSOB Director Openings.- a resume was submitted; WSOB will go into executive session at end of meeting to perform interview.

B. C.A. Trademark Challenge- Scotland (Ira) – (this item is staying on to ensure it is not dropped, but legal matters are being handled by WSBT) – New bill received and information that the accounting firm is no longer going to block the C.A. trademark; Ira to check with Bernie for his recommendation.

C. Leach vs. CAWSO et.al. – Richard and Duane responded to a verification audit

D. CA.ORG website Current and New (Linda and Richard) –

2. New – Richard advised that the Ad-Hoc committee is working to define templates design(s); expected to be ready by WSC 2014.

E. European Fulfillment Center (Richard) – KJ reached out to a few facilities; Russell is also helping Richard and will check with UK caucus going on this weekend for additional input

F. Meditation Book Status- no change in status since last meeting

G. Newcomer Booklet (Morgan) On hold until after convention

H. IT Report (Linda) – Laptops are being updated in preparation for use at 2014 convention.
