COCAINE ANONYMOUS WORLD SERVICE OFFICE

MINUTES OF APRIL 12,1990

Attendance: Helene H. ; Pam K.,‘ Mary C.; Bunny B.; Bill Z.; Ray G.; Bob C, David C,; Jay W.;

Meeting was called to order at 710 P .M. with the Serenity Prayer.

David read the Eighth Tradition,

Bunny read the minutes for the March 22, 1990 meeting with corrections. Motion was made to accept the minutes with corrections, Seconded and passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT – MARY C.

Financial Statement 1ST Quarter 1990 was submitted, see attached. Mary still feels that more participation is needed at the Spending Committee Meetings, they have had two meeting so far. The Spending Committee wants to be of service to the Board, Mary also submitted a the Spending Committee’s “Statement of Purpose”. See attached. There is still a need for clarification on the Spending Committees “Statement of Purpose”, this was discussed at length and Mary will take back recommendations from the Board to the Spending Committee at there next meeting May 16, 1990 7:30 P.M. at WSO.

Balances of accounts are as follows:

STARTING “WORKING” FUNDS BALANCE $8,513.34

Trust Account 4,568.16

Operating Account 3,945.18

ENDING “WORKING” FUNDS BALANCE $6,778.35

Trust Account 3,578,09

Operating Account 3,200.26

COMMITTEE REPORT:

NEWSGRAM – BILL Z.

The Newsgram is in the mail from Nancy and Greg. Bill suggested that nothing is important enough to delay publication of the Newsgram or Connection. Bill will also send recommendations to the Spending Committee. Suzie will do a f,best of”. The price is still too high at a $1.00. The suggestion came up that it be distributed thru chips and literature orders possibly next winter and sell for 25 cents. There was some discussion on one publication the Newsgram and Connection together. Also the question came up on how many will go to Phoenix

PUBLIC INFORMATION – JAY W.

Jay submitted a letter for Board approval, see attached. This letter will be brought back to the Board at a later date. There was also a letter from Seattle requesting literature from C.A. regarding 12 Steps, Jay referred them to WSO. Jay also suggested that something go out to the areas about phone numbers state wide because they are not reporting back changes. The South Bay has a connection with the Good Year blimp, They have offered free advertising for CA*s PSA’s.

Tina G. has requested a letter from P.R.P.R. for Phoenix Convention, regarding the purpose of the Convention. Letters have already been sent to local governments in Phoenix. Tennessee wants a 10 second PSA to be sent to them by April 13, 1990. The article in the Times April 6 was very positive. There was a motion made to donate the 10 second PSA. Second and passed. WSO would like copies for archives.

DIRECTORY COMMITTEE – STEVE M., DAVID C., see attached report. The target date is May 22,1990 and will be delivered in time for the Phoenix Convention, there were suggestions made to update it bi-annually also for addling a three ring book for easy addition. Bill asked that WSO gets a data base so it can be used at WSO. There was a motion made to approve cover for the directory. It was second and passed.

LONER’S – PAM K. submitted a letter for approval, regarding the CA loner sponsors, corrections were made, and Mary will type this letter and distribute them in the next delegate mailing.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Scrolls still need to be taken to conference. Steve M. will do it for $2.00 each an cardboard. The question came up, can the Board change the format again, this question will be taken back to the conference. What about fabric on a wooden dowell? Bob C. will get quotes Mary C. will get one and Bunny another.
  2. 800# answering service in the SFV did not work out, but a company outside L.A. area has been found in Riverside, $58.50 any call over 100 is 25 cents a call. Mary has make information number and has mailed it to the answering service, Dial Answering Service all that was required was one month service. Helene asked to send something in writing to the answering service about what needs to be said when they answer.
  3. Order forms for literature only, Helene asked Bill to get these made.
  4. Insurance for events: Helene got one quote for $5,000 from Searcy Company, see attached.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Pam asked if there was a phone vote taken, on purchase of the coffee maker? Yes there was, but Pam had not returned Mary’s call.

The meeting was adjourned at 10 PM with the Lords Prayer
