Minutes of the Meeting of CA World Service Office Board of Directors

August 9, 2014

I. Opening. Meeting called to order with the “we” version of the Serenity Prayer at 9:25 am by Chair, Richard L.

II.Reading from New Meditation Book; Read by Laurie R.

III. Tradition 7 – Read by Morgan.

IV. Concept 7 – Read by Ira L.

A. Discussion by Ira L. Wishes this was brought up at last years conference, and put into the transcripts on the conference floor. Richard also discussed about the benefits about having this concept transcribed on the floor. Kathy Jo and Linda followed up in the discussion with the price of transcription. What are some options to increase proficiency in regards to this process.

B. Kathy Jo. Standing rule: referral will be given to structure and by-laws.

C. Ira L. emphasizing the transparency in regards to written transcription rather then recording. Went on to explain the concept “ is the flip side to the standing rule.” The conference approved rule is the standing rule.

V. Birthdays– None

IX. Approval of the minutes of the prior meeting

A. Richard L. motions to approve the minutes from July 26, 2014. Seconded by Linda Motion passes unanimously.

A. Jay H. Filling in as secretary and coming to office to help out with whatever needs to be taken care of at the office.

A. WSOB Director Openings –We have 2 opening and are always accepting applications!

B. Leach vs. CAWSO et.al.

C. Website

1. Linda. Announced with help of marius, CAWSO and is now hosted by our virtual personal server. (we own) Less then $100.00 a year, and is possible to host up to 10 other sites on our server. Linda is working with Marius and LCF on getting everything current. (pamphlets & Website)

2. Ira L. The website will go virtual before it goes live. The Board will need to approve before site goes live, in case any housekeeping issues arise. Ira’s point was that housekeeping issues should not hold up the launch and could be done by the committees after the new website goes live.

1. Pricing needs to be discussed in regards to different currency.

E. Meditation Book

1. The book has arrived at office. These will be available at conference to distribute for the fellowship.

F. Newcomer Booklet

1. Morgan T. presented a sample of the Newcomer Booklet.

2. Motion: Susan D. made motion that booklet would be available for a $1.00. Ira L. 2nd – vote: passed (2 oppositions noted)

C. Convention: KJ R. & Linda F. – Convention guidelines do not include anything to do with translation concerns. Discussion ensued, and it was decided this subject should go to Convention Committee under new business.

D. Conference: Linda F., Richard L., Ira L.

1. Ira L. and Linda F. will be meeting with Hotel Staff to discuss the upcoming conference and doing a walk-through at the four points Sheraton this week.

E. Unity: Kathy Jo R. – Nothing New

F. Literature, Chips & Formats: Linda F. & Kathy Jo R.– Nothing New

G. Hospitals & Institutions: Open – Nothing New

H. Public Information: Morgan T. (Ira L.) – Nothing New

1. We will be taking a few of the archives to the conference. A small display will be in the office at Conference, and available to view when the Conference office is open.

VII. CAWS 2017 – Linda F.

A. Ira reported he had a telephone conversation Friday, with both Terry and Gary P. and it was reported that the committee was having monthly meeting, and hotels had been visited, though Gary was performing as the Hotel liaison. A contract was in progress.
