CONFERENCE REPORT C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2025

PUBLIC INFORMATION (P.I.) REPORT

INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:

Dear CA Members,

What an incredible year it has been once again! I am proud to share the inspiring progress, dedication, and evolving landscape of our Public Information Committee. It has been a year of meaningful transition, innovation, and continued commitment to carrying the message to the still-suffering addict through effective, tradition-compliant public information efforts.

Across our fellowship, members have continued to show up with heart and creativity. The scale of PI work remains vast — and while our committee has been sizeable, the need for more support is ever-present. There is still so much to be done, and every contribution matters.

In North America, the PI Summit was successfully delivered by Donna, with Mikey serving as North American PI Chair throughout the year. The Summit helped drive connection, shared learning, and renewed energy across the region.

In Europe, Alex hosted the European PI Summit and Eoghan led as European PI Chair, both of whom have brought energy and commitment to PI work across multiple areas and languages.

Charise has now taken on the PI Members’ Area Website, ensuring that approved materials are uploaded and that the platform remains a useful, accessible space for our members.

Joe B, who previously led our media efforts, stepped into the role of Survey Subcommittee Chair this year. He introduced a new platform — switching from SurveyMonkey to Google Forms — which has made updating and managing our surveys simpler and more cost-effective.

Rod completed his term as subcommittee chair this year but continued to serve the committee by taking on an ad hoc chair role, leading the important work of updating the PI Guidelines. His deep understanding of the fellowship and process has been

invaluable in this effort.

Sadly, Payton had to step down from their subcommittee role for personal reasons. We are grateful for the time and energy they brought to the team. The All Rise convention, which was due to feature PI programming, didn’t take place this year — but we look forward to its strong return next year.

As is often the case in service, it’s only as I rotate out of the role of CAWSPI Chair that I feel I’ve truly found my rhythm. It has been an absolute privilege to serve alongside such passionate and dedicated members, many of whom go above and beyond in unseen ways.

I am thrilled to pass the torch to Christie, our current Vice Chair, who is fully ready to roll into the role. Her calm leadership and consistent presence have already made a great impact.

Stuart, our Lead Trustee, has offered clear and steady guidance throughout the year following Ruby C’s rotation after last conference. His support and care for our committee have been deeply appreciated.

I would respectfully request that our World S&B Committee look to create a new service position that could be offered as guidance in our WSM for the role of Young Person Liaison. We are seeing so many young people (our next generation) seeking the rooms of Cocaine Anonymous. I believe we should follow the lead of AA and create a role specifically to help this wave of newcomers. Those identified as aged late teens to 30. With the ever changing times and the evolving substances of addiction I feel our future young members and generations to come would find greater hope and identification being connected to a Young Person Liaison from World, to Area, District to Group.

Okay I have finally come up with an official outreach program for what I was originally elected into this position for. I have also filled out the form for PI.

Resolution: Creating Literature Pamphlets for Underserved Specialized Communities within the CA Recovery Community

Whereas: There are several underserved specialized communities within the Cocaine Anonymous (CA) recovery community.

Whereas: Currently, we have literature that specifically reaches out to the LGBTQIA+ community, as evidenced by the resource available at https://ca.org/literature/ca-is-for/.

Whereas: Recognizing the importance of reaching out to the LGBTQIA+ community as an underserved group within the CA family, it is essential to extend similar outreach efforts to other specialized groups.

Therefore be it resolved that:

We create literature pamphlets tailored to the following communities: African American, Indigenous People, Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, and any other underserved communities that may yet to be determined. These pamphlets will address the unique needs, challenges, and experiences of each community within the context of recovery.

These literature pamphlets will serve as valuable resources to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals within these communities who are seeking recovery from addiction.

Whereas: The Survey Sub-Committee recognizes the need and significance of conducting demographic surveys to provide accurate and representative information to the public demonstrating the diverse nature of the fellowship.

Whereas: The wider society broadly identifies and acknowledges the LGBTQIA+ community as a significant demographic group.

Whereas: It is believed that the inclusion of a question related to LGBTQIA+ demographics in our surveys can assist in further underscoring the fellowship’s inclusivity, openness, and comprehensive representation.

Be it resolved: The Survey Sub-Committee hereby proposes to include a specific question about LGBTQIA+ demographics in all future surveys. This new question is intended to reaffirm our commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and openness, thus accurately reflecting our fellowship to the general public.

Response: Referral did not result in a motion, all Flyers/Posters are already editable and C.A. App QR codes can be added to flyers/posters.

Given that there is no way for the Conference floor to verify updated data from surveys added to the Fact File, I suggest that when the Fact File is updated with the survey data only, it is considered house keeping. If any changes to the format or text from the existing template then this could be brought forward via SR-14.

Response: As of 2024 Conference data survey data updates to the annual Fact File are not considered as house keeping.

Please update the PI members website to include all language logos currently produced by CAWSO. It was brought to our attention after submitting our CATW artwork this year that some were missing, but the ones we were sent from the CAWSO are not on the PI site or publicly available for any of our members to view or download. I have attached the 3 sent to us from CAWSO that we were not aware of or able to find ourselves through any traditional means.

In regards to the online survey. A statement of purpose at the beginning explaining the reason for the survey and why it is important. In the WSM page 18 it states

a. What are we doing with it?

b. Have we told the individual what we are doing with it?

c. Do they fully understand what happens to their information once they give it to us? While I understand this is referring to “personal data” I believe it should still be considered as it is our duty to be transparent to our members about why we are collecting this type of information.

PRESENTATIONS OF CURRENT ACTIVITIES OR TASKS

Over the past twelve months, the CAWSPI Committee and its subcommittees have continued to serve with commitment and creativity, despite a lighter motion year. While we did not deliver as many PI Rocks Roadshow workshops as in previous years, we maintained strong engagement through:

Two PI Summits (North America and Europe)
Twice-monthly connection calls in North America
The launch of European connection calls
A number of mini workshops held during these calls

Although the All Rise Convention did not go ahead this year, we are pleased to report strong progress on several foundational projects, many of which are still in development:

The PI Handbook and Guidelines have been updated
The PI Members’ Area is undergoing enhancements
A new flyer for the Meeting Finder app was created following a referral request from IT
Much of our recent administrative flyer work has been designed to avoid the need for presenting separate motions this year
Ongoing development of a guide for using live chat/text alongside helplines

CLOSING COMMENTS
