CAWS 2029 (Toronto)–Parthi T. Highlights:
- Chairperson Update: Since my last report, we have continued to build momentum as we move further into active planning for CAWS 2029. While there are no major changes since April, steady progress has been made across several key areas.
- Steering Committee & Planning Progress: The Steering Committee continues to meet regularly and remains actively engaged in early-stage planning. Work is ongoing in expanding the service structure, including the continued solicitation of résumés for five General Committee positions. We remain encouraged by the level of participation and willingness to serve from members of the Fellowship.
- Hotel & Venue Selection: We have now completed walkthroughs at two potential hotel venues and have received updated proposals from both. These proposals are currently under review with the support and guidance of the DOCAC. This marks continued progress as we move toward entering negotiations and ultimately securing a location for CAWS 2029.
- Fundraising Efforts: Fundraising discussions remain ongoing, with continued planning of upcoming events aimed at building both financial support and Fellowship engagement.
- International Attendee Information: Work continues on developing clear and accessible information for international attendees, specifically regarding entry into Canada for individuals with prior convictions. This remains an important priority as we plan for a welcoming and inclusive convention.
- Next Priorities:
- Continuing review and negotiation of hotel and venue proposals with guidance from the DOCAC

WSOB Chair–Randy G.
Highlights:
- I participated in the monthly committee meetings and went to the office on a weekly basis. The chair-to-chair call is back on the schedule.
- Activity has taken us to the verge of engaging with the actual commitment to moving our accounting to QuickBooks On-Line. It’s very exciting.
- I appreciate everyone’s diligence in keeping up with our on-line business activity. We were extremely efficient this month in responding to the number of Check Requests and issues addressed by the board.
- With the unforeseen resignation of the NewsGram Editor, I will be providing a potential solution to the temporary need and plan to go forward during the WSOB meeting on Saturday, the 16th.
- Again, I feel the need to restate the obvious. We’ve got some very important decisions and activity for C.A. over the next few months before the conference, so I am asking in advance for some engagement to reflect the true spirit of service that we signed on for.
WSOB Treasurer–Russell S. Highlights:
General update of activities and tasks;
- Ongoing interaction with our DOO, WSOB Chair, WSOT and Bookkeeper.
- Regular communication with DoCaC regarding WS Convention financial requests and activities.
- I now have full access to all relevant bank accounts.
- I am in communication with CAWS2026, 2027 & 2028 Treasurers.
- I’ve participated in online business by email and on WhatsApp group in a timely manner.
- I attended the WSC Finance Committee meeting in April and we have begun work on the 2026 Revised Budget and Draft 2027 Budget. Please advise regarding revised 2026 budget as there had been mention of Q4 going online. Please also prepare 2027 Quarterly amounts as that would be helpful for our draft 2027 budget that will be sent out in SR14 mailing (I will use Conf Approved 2026 figures for draft 2027 if I receive no further feedback from WSBT.
- Annual Tax returns are currently in hand and submitted.
- Had a recent call with Chase to seek interest gain on Prudent Reserve Account (#9555), Publication Fund Account (#9563), and the new Emergency Reserve Account when opened. Although gain may seem minimal on these accounts it is usual and responsible to seek such benefits. Awaiting feedback from WSBT regarding renaming the ‘Petty Cash Account’ to‘Emergency Reserve Account’.
- Working with DOO to establish a policy for ACH payments and wire Transfers to consider security implications of such activities.
- Reviewing revenue shortcomings (nonpayment) directly linked to Royalty and License Agreements. I am intending to present further substantiation regarding this issue in the near future and certainly if we meet at a B2B in Orlando.
- I am working with WSO staff and outside professional to prepare the switch to QBO as a high priority task…. it’s been in the long grass for too long.
- Working with the DOO, Ast manager and DAL04 to assess how we can meet our financial reporting and breakdown needs to integrate Shopify with QBO. Initially looking positive.
- We are still missing receipts and expenditure sheets from WSBT activity and CC usage. I would be grateful if these outstanding receipts can be sent in. WSOT has a spreadsheet with missing receipts. Many thanks in advance.
- Assisted DOO with multiple tasks.
WSOB Secretary–Kimberley C.
Highlights:
- H&I: Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the H&I committee meeting this month because it was on Mother’s Day, and my sons had plans for me. I did look at the minutes and I contacted vice chair. The committee is planning a tutorial for the chairs and the secretaries regarding SR- 14s. No correctional referrals, although they did receive an email from a member in Colorado
Page 8 of 19
seeking information on how he can be of service in his new corrections outreach position. Committee is still working on the H&I guidelines.
- Referrals: Met with Wesley on multiple occasions to work on referrals. Spoke with Lou several times regarding referral issues. Encountering lots of frustration with the referral system. I have sent conference committee several spreadsheets noting referrals as being closed, It seems that they come back again. It’s like a horror movie. The last list of referrals we received contained mostly referrals that we had already dealt with in committee. The latest request is that we provide transfer forms for referrals that were transferred out to other committees back in 2018, 2022 and so on. These are the ones that Yves had already completed and transferred.
- Other: Updated motions log from last month. Updated the agenda file in OneDrive.

DIRECTORS AT LARGE (DAL) REPORTS
Jason S. (DAL)
Highlights:
- Attended: NO Regular WSOB meetings, WSC IT, WSOB ADHOC
- WSCIT / Web: Since I did absolutely nothing to move the CA ball forward let me tell you a story. A very sophisticated ransomware phished an employee’s credentials. Got into my network and wiped or locked everything. It found my 18 TB of backups .. and DELETED them. I had some backups in the AWS cloud. But those turned out to be ridiculously cumbersome and slow. Anyway, all 80 workstations, all the servers, my pharmacy, accounting .. everything had to be rebuilt from scratch. It has been brutal. Anyway, I felt like I owed you all an explanation. But I am back. Russell and I are real close to putting the final touches on my new EP and you should see some discs and QR codes for you to purchase the new album at the convention. If you buy the limited edition of the vinyl I promise to sign your copy.
Wesley B. (DAL)
Highlights:
- Attended: Regular WSOB meeting, North American PI, WSCPIC, Referrals Ad Hoc
- PI Updates: PI.CA.Org has been updated with all necessary materials–big thanks to Charisse! Continuing with updates to PI Rocks and Professional Outreach presentations, as well as the Fact Sheet following latest survey results (some of this content could be used on website update). Summit Guidelines being reviewed for possible SR-14 submission. NA Summit 2027 still looking for venues in Seattle. European Summit 2027 – does not have chair, No exact plan yet on, location, timing. Plans for PI presence at Convention. Question raised in chat about 3-D CA logo. Materials should be ready for SR-14 next week.
- WSOB: Referrals–Kim and I reviewed several updates form Lou/Conference Committee, mostly housekeeping follow-ups to already addressed referrals (spreadsheet in files). Randy, Kim and I reviewed the issues with Conference Committee updating their records. Current (2026) referrals spreadsheet is up to date with several referrals ongoing and 3 new referrals since previous meeting.
- Newsgram: with finalized Guidelines for NewsGram, I went to Kenny to discuss next steps on committee formation. In that discussion, Kenny decided it was time for him to resign, and I let him know how much his efforts have been appreciated and the quality of the Newsgrams he has produced. Randy and I discussed next steps for next NewsGram, prior to Conference. Continue work on new position descriptions and orientation items under development.
Morten V. (DAL)

- CA Holland approved to translate 12 step companion guide
Kalob T. (DAL)
Highlights:
- Meeting Finder App General Updates
- Updated framework the server uses to connect data to code (Django Web Framework). Patched issues as they arose with the new update. No downtime happened during the update.
- Trained a WSCIT committee member on how to onboard a new Area.
- Spent ~3 hours problem solving with an area as to why their website was blocking our server. This pushed the requirement for app guidelines up the priority list for me.
- I am considering writing proposed guidelines for the WSOB regarding meeting management as the previous point is not a sustainable action from the office board. Looking into an easier way to collect meetings from Area websites that requires less hands-on maintenance using Cloudflare’s new Cawl API.
-
- Reported invalid reviews on the Android app. Spam reviews occasionally come in and need to be reported.
- WIP: Working on C.A. Meeting Finder App Guidelines.
- AppAnalytics: App stats will be from the previous full month rather than listing a partial month.
Zoom
- Ran a security audit on our Zoom accounts and deleted unused and unneeded data ar facts (transcripts, cloud recordings, etc).
- Disabled ~15 AI features from the WSOB Zoom account. For security, privacy and Tradition reasons these were disabled. To any commitees: if you need settings adjusted you can let me know and we can do the same for your mee ngs.
Shopify
- Gave our bookkeeper direct access to the shop with read-only permissions to analy cs for be er and easier keeping of books via the online store.
- Working with DOO and Treasurer to help break down repor ng for accurate and sane bookkeeping.
- Met with the Assistant Manager to go over some quirks of the shop and to determine next steps for repor ng, ease of use, and quality of life adjustments.
- Cleaned up data to keep us consistent moving forward. Data hygiene is important.
- Researched and provided a report for shop expansion into the UK that would play well with: repor ng, inventory, and bookkeeping.
- Created a new Shopify feature to help the office with dropshipped products. This should help free up employee me, enable organiza on around a par cular type of product, and to speed up comms with a manufacturer.
- Looked into bundling products together to make, for example, a Starter Kit, easier to sell where the inventory will auto-adjust itself. Will require some refactoring of products. More to come on this front.
- Created a new Shopify feature to analyze sales and quan es. This will help the office understand the economics of grouped products (ie. How well are Books selling)
- Looked into integra ons between Quickbooks Online and Shopify and shared results with the Treasurer.
- Looked into a separate UK Shopify store and the pricing and effort behind that possibility. Not possible without star ng a UK-based non-profit.
- Analyzed our product prices in conjunc on with our discount op ons to poten ally lower product prices.
CRM
- Registered for 3x HubSpot webinars to learn more about maximizing our tools.
- April 22. Attended Workflows HubSpot Webinar. Learned what we can do with that, how it connects to data points, how it can manipulate and trigger other actions. Learned about HubSpot credits, sequences, and how to maximize our integra ons with HubSpot
Page 15 of 21
- April 23. Attended Managing Users, Permissions and Teams Workshop. Learned how to accurately assign permissions, best practices, and about HubSpot Seat assignment. Why this is important:
- 43% of data beaches involve internal actors. Permissions are important.
- ⅓of all orgs lose productivity due to messy permissions. The “where do I find it and who has access” problem.
- Teams waste time trying to figure out permissions, but everyone as a “Super Admin”can cause a mess and become a time vampire as well.
- May 4. Attended Data Management Excellence: Essential Strategies for Clean and Organized Data Workshop. Learned how to create properties, associations, backups/restores, contact enrichments, and overall better data management and database hygiene.
Misc
- Made a C.A. QR Code Generator tool for internal use. Feel free to ask me for the link.
- Looking into and started trialing professional software for a proper NewsGram publishing process that’s high quality, available in pdf, handles graphics, and can have per-page rules in place (Affinity by Canva; insert 6th tradition statement). This is much more powerful than using Word, allows lots of powerful graphics while maintaining publishing tools. The project resulted in a very cool redesign of the NewsGram (not distributed).
- Created a QR code for Q2 2026 NewsGram archive.
- Confirmed 211 Alberta (ab.211.ca) has correct contact information for N. Alberta and S. Alberta areas.
- Created Cloudflare and Resend accounts for development purposes. Both logged in the documentation.
- Looked into translation AI tools. ChatGPT takes the cake. The other providers I’ve found use ChatGPT behind the scenes (most AI tools do this). chatgpt.com/translate (insert 6th tradition statement) does not currently support Danish. Always make sure to write clear, instructive prompts with examples of language idioms when using a chat bot.
- Looked into QuickBooks Online (QBO) pricing for non-profits, the integration it can have with Shopify, what plans are available to us, and summarized it. Shared with Treasurer and the office employees.
- Started looking into another donation platform event registration platform (Zeffy.com) that plays nicely with QuickBooks and HubSpot, and has lower transaction fees. It also has an API for connecting data to other sources (such as the app). Zeffy is used by over 100k non-profits. 0% transaction fees for donations and event registration.
- Documentation
- Updated the Secretary and DAL responsibilities
Page 16 of 19
-
- Worked with DOO on the DAL position.
- Added tech-service account ownership.
