CONFERENCE REPORT
C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2025 WSCIT REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:
The IT committee has been working hard on the C.A. Meeting Finder app and Meeting Finder Database for the last year and we’re keeping a keen eye on A.I. as it becomes a household tool in every home. We have continued to onboard new Areas on to the meeting database and provide support for Area Webservants to easily add and manage their meetings on the C.A. Meeting Finder App. We look forward to continuing to serve C.A. through technology.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MOTIONS:
Referral 15101389
To create a process and a guiding document for the fellowship to be able to share recordings from events, workshops, and meetings, and include language in the IT-manual – for how recordings are allowed to be uploaded.
A. Motion to approve the Speaker Submission Process (attachment 1.)
B. Motion to approve the Media Platform Guidelines for Content (attachment 2.)
REFERRALS THAT WERE FORWARDED TO OTHER COMMITTEES:
None
REFERRALS STILL IN COMMITTEE:
16060114 – Could each world service committee have a page or section on the CA website, to share details of their current projects, meeting times and locations, subcommittee times and locations etc
Page | 6
15689014 – Asking each committee and the boards to adopt pp15-17 of the Archives handbook to unify naming conventions for saved materials (literature, documents, handbooks, files, digital assets, etc). Further, each committee/board determines that their current files/documents etc conform to the naming convention.
15218395 – I wonder if it might be possible to add a ‘share app’ function to the drop-down menu, so that when we’re talking to a prospect, new member or visitor we can easily send the App straight to their phone.
CLOSED REFERRALS:
15210611 – I know it’s in its earliest stages, but I’d like to see the app have a feature that links a member of CA to give butter or some way to include a donation button. This could mimic what we already have in place where you can make a one-time donation or sign up for a monthly pledge.
No action taken. The Committee and Board have agreed the CA Meeting Finder app should just be to find meetings.
15200858 – I wonder if the WSOB would consider an app for the Quiet Peace meditation book. With the success of the app for the meeting finder I feel it would be a great addition to present to our membership our daily meditation readings. Maybe this app could be chargeable, on an annual basis, to provide funds for our wonderful fellowship.
No action taken Same as the previous motion. 16235312 – Proposal to Separate Online Meetings from Physical Area Structures No action taken
PRESENTATIONS OF CURRENT ACTIVITIES OR TASKS (no motions)
Since we left the conference last year, we have added almost 800 more meetings to CA Meeting Databases, 11K more iOS installs and 2.6K more Android installs of the CA Meeting Finder App. The launch of the meeting database and meeting finder app has been a wonderful accomplishment that the committee is very proud of and supports on an ongoing basis.
We have the meeting database which areas use to manage their meetings located here:
https://caws-api.azurewebsites.net/admin/
We have the iOS Meeting Finder App :

We have the Android Meeting Finder App :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.caitcommittee.camobileappdemo
Page | 8
We also launched a committee website : https://it.ca.org/
we have been working with the board to get a speaker tapes platform selected and a proof of concept on the CA Mobile App as per referral: 15101389.
We rolled out a new version of the meeting finder section in the mobile applications to address feedback from the fellowship around the support of online meetings.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
Throughout the year we have addressed bugs and rolled out improvements to better support the fellowship. As with any technology project this has required developers with experience with various technologies including JavaScript and Python. We have been blessed to have strong engineers – Kalob, Gustav and Chris that have contributed their time to work these projects. That said, we always need help around the non-technical aspects as well (writing guidelines, research, and discussing digital changes in the world around us).
We are in need of more developers to help maintain and contribute to this work. We ask the fellowship to go back after the conference to its members and spread the word that the IT Committee is in need of technical expertise to continue our work.
With the emergence of AI there has been a lot of conversation in the Virtual Services Subcommittee about the topic and its use in the fellowship. Guidance about the use and best practices will continue to be discussed.
Respectfully Submitted:

Russell S – You are speaking to tradition 11 not tradition 12 Stu E – Speaking in favour of the motion
Jennifer G – Question – will these be kept in a separate location from the depository we already have
Milton L – Yes
Jennifer G – Would IT be willing to consider collaboration with archives to ensure you have what we have.
Milton L – Yes, we would
Lou B – Question – are you not auditing the recording once sent to you and why not.
Milton L – This is not a responsibility we want.
Parthi T – What does media platform mean?
Milton L – It a platform we selected, it’s an audio file platform
Parthi T – Is it on the app?
Milton L – Its separate from the app.
Jonathan H – Question – no one from IT reviewing but it will be rejected if process not followed how this will work?
Kalob T – When submitted they are in a state of uncertainty. It’s up to area/districts/groups to ensure that all process is followed and the waver is signed. We are looking into a function of being able to report if anything is uploaded that should not be.
Wesley B – Speaking in favour of the motion.

Robert B – Question – Clarification is this submission or distribution.
Milton – This is just about submission not distribution.

Lou B – Question – Since you don’t have someone auditing this, how can you guarantee that some quality sobriety and recovery will be submitted for the newcomer in a safe way?

Motion 50: Passes with minor opposition.
Russell S – Do you have any other motions?
Milton L – Not at this time
Russell S. – There is a mesh between the two motions that were to be presented so the IT committee would like to work through both the motions and get it back to the floor, hopefully before the end of conference.
Russell S – Any questions for the IT committee?
Questions for the IT committee.
Paul McG – Tradition 6 is not on the website Milton L – Thank you, we’ll fix that.
Russell S – I’ve noticed a few websites have popped up and they haven’t come to this conference for approval.
Page | 13
Chris M. – World Service Office Board will have oversight.
Barry Ha – We have discussed that, and we (WBST) have given the World Service Office Board oversight of the websites. Public Information included.
Russell S – Is it out in public domain?
Barry Ha – I couldn’t find it, but it is out there.
Andrew C – If we find issues on the website or C.A. app, would you prefer they be sent to IT or as a referral process?
Milton L – It would be easier to send them to us for a quicker response.
Patrice F – How are the updates on the meeting finder app done? My home group Zoom meetings have really increased due to the app, so thank you for that.
Milton L – We can send you a login link and you can update them there.
Judd W – If this is brought back to the board, will the speaker recordings be vetted by world for contact instead of area? Archives already has this, wouldn’t it be easier to provide a link to Archives or to work together with them?
Milton L – Yes, we’ll investigate the vetting situation.
Kalob T – We’re not duplicating anything. Archives are doing it differently than we want to do it.
Stu E – If your committee ends up vetting the recordings, would you include the volunteers from the floor to assist in your committee?
Milton L – Yes
Miriam F – Website – why was your website created? It.ca.org
Milton L – We just wanted our own website where we could broadcast our work. Paul G –
Kalob T – technology will provide some guidance in the creation of this website.
Jacob M. – can you please describe the process for the website?
Milton L –
Russell S – Please join me in thanking the IT committee.
