CAWS 2026 (Florida)

Highlights:

  • The General Committee met on site at Caribe Royale on October 26th, the meeting went great and was well attended.
    • Members who had not yet seen the venue had the opportunity to stay, eat, play, and be amazed with the expanse and tropical luxury of the resort.
    • Additionally revealed were the many opportunities which exist for revenue generating auctions and raffles leading up to the convention including private poolside cabanas, sports simulator suites, and the 2 Bedroom Villas.
  • The Fundraising Committee is being bolstered by some more experienced members and events are currently being planned in Florida and in Alabama.

CAWS 2027 (Washington)

Highlights:

  • Fundraising: “Death of a Gangster” murder mystery event will take place on 12/07. We are really looking forward to this event as well as our area is.
  • Requests for theme and logo submissions, the cutoff date for submissions is December 15th and submissions will be reviewed by the committee on December 22nd.

CAWS 2028 (Scotland)

Highlights:

  • One of our districts in Scotland had a one-day convention and raised £4000 profit which is being donated to the 2028 convention. Our 2024 Scottish area convention auctioned an item raising £450 which will also be donated to the 2028 convention. There is a proposal in our Scottish area budget for £10,000 to be set aside every year for the next four years. Once this gets ratified next month at our budget meeting, we will have raised £44,450 before we have held any fundraising events for the 2028 convention.
  • The enthusiasm for this convention from not only the Scottish fellowship but also the European region is something I have never seen in the 11 years of being part of this beautiful fellowship and I’m sure this will grow over the next four years.

NEW REFERRALS RECEIVED:

WSOB 2024-01 pre-Conf 2024

Patrice H F. Ohio area

Under box instructions, it states a change was made to the way information would be disseminated. “The World Service Office will no longer send out quarterly emails to delegates. Instead, all information will be uploaded to Box.” in the world Service Manual under World Service Office it states ” The World Service Office (WSO) is the main contact and distribution point of C.A. Its main purpose is to maintain contact with members, Groups, Districts, and Areas. Contact is sustained through correspondence, newsletters, e-mail, the website www.ca.org, and representatives within our service structure.

I have some questions I would like to have addressed. 1. Who had the authority to make this decision? 2. Why was this decision made? 3.What has to happen to continue to get the quarterly emails?

It was my understanding the Box was a tool used for conference information (which is good for the conference by the way). The emails sent quarterly makes it easier to share the information with our members. We are able to print important information for announcements/events etc.

Most of the fellowship is not aware of the Box and although as of now, there doesn’t seem to be any restrictions to who can have access to the Box, it is not easy to navigate. We have many members who prefer to keep it simple.

WSOB 2024-02 pre-Conf 2024

Maggie M. CA UK

I am hoping somewhere along the way it could be taken seriously and looked at that conference can become hybrid or online only how would I get this voted on and up for discussion please yours truly a very grateful CA member
