CLOSING REPORT
C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2018
WORLD SERVICE BOARD OF TRUSTEES REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS
Your WSBT would like to extend sincere thanks to all participants at this year’s World Service Conference, and to the entire fellowship for allowing us to be of service, and for your ongoing support. It is truly a pleasure to serve in this capacity.
Your WSBT would like to thank the WSOB for their service and commitment to the fellowship of C.A. We look forward to continuing to work closely with our Office Board and assisting, when requested or required, throughout the upcoming 12 months.
We will continue to be prudent with Trustee expenditures and be mindful of the budget.
The TEC conducted business and followed the process of electing new Trustees.
We are extremely excited for the upcoming CAWS 2019 Convention “Stockholm Syndrome” in Stockholm, Sweden from July 4th through July 8th, 2019.
We received referrals at this conference and we will work on these throughout the year.

WSBT Referrals WS Conference 2018
WSBT 2018-1 From Linda M. Quebec Area (In-Conference)
Please consider removing remove the name Back to Basic or B2B from meeting names and meeting lists because it refers to an organization outside of CA that sells books and give consultations that we CA should not endorse as per our 6th Tradition.
WSBT 2018-2 From Cynthia C. Washington State Area (In-Conference)
As the guardians of the Twelve Traditions, I would appreciate your weighing in on Referral S&B 2017-15 regarding the process to change the Steps or Traditions. A lengthier referral was also submitted to S&B, but I believe there is a critical first question to be answered: 1 Does the existing language in the first paragraph of Article 4 of the Charter set a threshold of 3/4 of the C.A. Groups known to exist, or only those Groups voting as stated in the referral? Other thresholds in the WSM are explicit, as in further down in section 4 (“a three-quarters vote of all the voting Conference members registered and present”) and the TEC process (“Abstentions will not be considered a vote, and the election will be affirmed by two-thirds of the voting members”). For a decision of this magnitude, I believe the existing language should be construed literally to mean three-quarters of *the* C.A. groups, not just those voting. It seems to me that anything less would not provide the group conscience originally envisioned when the Charter was drafted. Thank you for your consideration.
WSBT 2018-3 From Susan B. OSA (In-Conference)
That the Trustees investigate the process by which our literature can begin to be provided in Braille and audio book format to help the low visioned, blind, and learning challenged find recovery.
Thanks for your consideration!

WSBT 2018-4 From Susan B. OSA (In-Conference)
That the Trustees take the necessary action to make www.ca.org ADA compliant in the next 2 years.
C.A. is not accessible to those addicts with disabilities who need available technology to interact with the world around them. Although addiction could be seen as a disability on its own, we are neglecting those with sight, sound and mobility challenges on our website, thereby not fulfilling our primary purpose. The OSA website faces these same issues.

Service to the Fellowship has given me a life I could have never imagined. Every group conscience meeting, every District meeting and every Area meeting that I didn’t want to attend but went to anyway has had a profound effect on the quality of my life. Being of service has been a steadying force in my sometimes tumultuous life. It has truly been an honor to be of service to C.A. in this capacity. I want to thank the World Service Board of Trustees for allowing me to serve as your chair this year. It has truly been an honor. This has been the best Board I have ever had the privilege to serve on, and I know next year it will be even better. Thank you all for your commitment and service to this Fellowship.
The August 27th meditation from A Quiet Peace states my sentiments perfectly. “Following through on every service obligation has been essential to my recovery-being reliable and finishing what I start. Doing so not only serves to reprogram my formerly irresponsible behavior, but it sets a good example for those next in line who will fill the various service positions. I am grateful for the service opportunities provided by the Fellowship. I am honored whenever my service increases unity within our Fellowship. I am humbled by appreciation for the change in my perspective which this service work has given me.
Respectfully submitted:
Anne M Atlantic South Regional Trustee, WSBT Chair
Trevor S – Any questions for the Board? Seeing none, please thank the committee.
