International Structure and Development (Johan/Chris/Sarah/Laurie/Gary)

Legal (Joni/Barry) South Africa trademark application was denied for the C.A. logo and We’re Here and We’re Free.

C.A. translated logo-some have the Registered symbol ® but are not actually registered, they should have TM because they are trade marked.

Branding guidelines (LTP), Jo B could easily fix them. Johan will email Cameron and ask to have logos sent to him so he can fix them.

Need the WSC PI committee to amend branding guidelines to put TM on non-English logos and then send to WSO to upload to CA.org.

Lead trustee can work with S & B committee to update logos.

Ruby will reach out to Joe B (UK) regarding the logos on pi.ca.org.

Motion to send cease a desist letter to Courtney Wegner. Seconded.

Passes with majority vote. (This is in regard to the unauthorized C.A. branded adult coloring books being sold on Amazon.)

Orientation (Clay/Chris/All)

Motion to approve the expense reimbursement policy.

Passes unanimously.

Motion to approve modified expense report worksheet.

Trustee Outreach (Sarah/Clay) Reaching out to former trustees for counsel.

World Service Conference (Barry/Laurie) Discuss Sub-committee during Q4.

Motion to approve subcommittee reports.

Passes unanimously.

WSBT Conference Committee Reports (See Attachment D)

Archive (Joni/Richard) active committee. Have discussed how to move Archives Repository with Office move. Have finished uploading 600 speakers from WS conventions on to audio.ca.org. Trustee sub-group should work with them. Joni will liase with WS Archives about speaker recordings. Ruby has submitted referral to WS Convention Committee requesting for info regarding convention speaker recordings be expanded on in the WSC Convention guidelines.

Conference (Laurie/Gary) Workshops were poorly attended. 3 motions to bring to floor (Referral process, change to bylaws, and LTP every other year conference).

Convention (Chris/Barry) Motion about Co-Anon. A lot of Areas use WSM as Area Convention Guidelines. The DOCAC position was created with the amendment that they did not have a vote. Duties of lead trustee is under new business.

Finance (Aurora/Richard)

Hospitals & Institutions (Gary/Laurie) They were given guidance to help keep projects rolling through out the year.

IT (Richard/Clay) The App will take longer for…Android is ready and Google is ready. Areas need to upload their meeting info to the app. There is a disadvantage because one person is the web servant (website creator) of so many websites. New C.A. websites, SR14, revised handbook should be in the Box.

Literature, Chips & Formats (Barry/Aurora)

Public Information (Ruby/Chris) Continued discussion on if Tradition 6 statement is needed on posters that only refer to ca.org. Past Dailies are unclear as to whether some approved posters were approved with the Tradition 6 disclaimer on them or not might. Overall view is it needs to stay, even though conference approved.

Q2-01 2023-05-15 / SMS Service for people struggling with addiction – WSBT Response sent 28-Jul-2023

Dear Casey,

Thank you for your inquiry about the SMS service for people struggling with addiction. We appreciate your interest, but we must respectfully decline to proceed with the service as it is essential for us to honor and respect the 12 traditions of Cocaine Anonymous. We value the principles of these traditions. The sixth tradition “A C.A. group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the C.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose” is the one that we need to uphold, and we cannot compromise on them. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,

World Service Board of Trustees

Your Message Hello, I created this SMS service for people struggling with addictions. It works by linking a sponsor or emergency contact to the sign-up and having more accountability with their addiction. The website is sobrietycheckin.com

I am looking to potentially partner with the right organization that shares similar values. I would love to hear from you if you have interest in a conversation.

Thank you,

Q2-02 2023-06-26 / OSA Affiliating with a Sect – WSBT Response sent 08-Aug-2023

Hello Chad,

We sincerely apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry.

Thank you for your communication. It is clear from your message that you are passionate about recovery and the well-being of our Fellowship as a whole.

10 of 193

Each C.A. District/Area is responsible for considering the general membership, and C.A., as they make decisions on events and flyers. In the decision-making process, the Committee and District/Area service body should also be mindful of the Twelve Traditions and perception of affiliation with outside issues. Although everyone may not agree on the outcome, it does seem as if the area service body followed the protocols for approving an event and modifying its flyer to address the concerns voiced.

Please continue to reach out to your local service District/Area with your sentiments and experience. Encourage them to work closely with their World Service Delegates and Regional Trustee to have a more informed decision-making process on the responsibility of adhering to the Twelve Traditions. Thank you again for your concern.

Yours sincerely,

Cocaine Anonymous World Service Board of Trustees

Q2-02 2023-06-26 / OSA Affiliating with a Sect

YourGreetings,
Message

I am bringing to your attention an event the Online Service Area of Cocaine Anonymous is putting on. The event, being facilitated by the OSA Unity Committee (chaired by an Alt Delegate) is to celebrate “pride month”. When I saw the announcement, I spoke up asking them to reconsider the event, pointing out in our preamble that “we are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution. We do not wish to engage in any controversy and we neither endorse or oppose any cause”.

They proceeded to remove the “pride month” language but left the symbols and flag banner associated with the LGBTQ+ community(pride month). At least two Delegates approved the media announcement. A third Delegate has spoken against the event. The message of the event “Be Proud of Who You Are” is not the C.A. message, but rather the LGBTQ+ communities’ message. The OSA is continuing with this event, using linguistic tactics to divert, but in actuality is allying C.A. with a sect and/or endorsing a cause, which affects C.A. as a whole. This is the reason I am writing you today.

C.A. is all inclusive for anyone who has a drug or alcohol problem. We don’t care your background or present affiliation as an individual. Our experience shows the dangers of an Area allying or endorsing a group or sect. The “in spirit of Tradition Six” disclaimer is in conflict or contradiction with the event.

I have attached the original announcement and the changed announcement; after I spoke out. As you can see, the theme, elements and endorsements are the same but “pride month “was removed, and the “all inclusive“ language was added…..linguistic tactic. The OSA is flying the LGBTQ+ flag. Does this mean we can now fly the BLM flag, the black panther flag, white Christian nationalist flag, or any of the hundreds of other sects or organizations flags? We have members of C.A. in many organizations or institutions across the world, and we don’t ally or support those causes. This should be no different. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you, Chad

Q2-03 2023-06-26 / Serenity Prayer

My name is Par and I’m a member of CA Sweden since over 10 years. Our Online group has grown a lot the past years and at the moment the service group is rather new. They have recently started to say the serenity prayer in “we” form and added the expression “your will be done” (which in hébreu translates Amen) before saying “thank you”. Me and quite a few others had reacted to this; both since in our experience we use the singular form in the prayer and because we think that saying a form of Amen is a religious expression.

Can I ask your opinion in the matter?

Best regards

Par a devoted member
