Russell S – temperature for the room for today. Difficulty seeing the screens with the lights, so we’ll ask that the lights be dimmed at one point. If the lights are too dark, please let us know.
We will now begin with roll call. Please state your name, area, and number of votes.

Russell S – thank you during roll call that was smooth and wonderful. It’s wonderful that we have some bids coming in, we have matured over the years, if you are not registered and not credentialed, just because you are here you still need to be registered and credentialed to speak and debate. Un-registered members can serve on standing committees, but if you have not been registered AND credentialed you cannot debate on the floor. If you are credentialed and no vote, in my opinion you are able to vote. This year we’re going to do something a little different, Jim will give a brief introduction on budgets and what they are. Please don’t feel patronized, we’ll fix it over the upcoming years.
Jim G – This morning we are going to give an introduction around financial reports. Hopefully you will have better understanding of what we will be presenting later today. Jim G gives a brief breakdown of income (Revenue). 7th tradition donations are a large part of our income.
Jim G explains the costs of goods and how they are reported.
Jim G gives an overview of expenses, and this will be the largest part of the report, as much detail as possible is given. An example is shown and explained.
Jim G talks about budgets and why we go through the process of creating budgets. It is a forecast based on previous reports to help project either a profit or a loss. We try to be as realistic and conservative as we can.
Jim G gives an overview of the balance sheet. Jim explains different types of assets.
Jim G – do you have any questions?
Patrice F – can you explain to us about a prudent reserve?
Jim G. – There are several ways to create a prudent reserve. Three months, six months or three years of running reserves.
Tom T. – you mentioned that 1st Jan – 31 dec, when we put our committee budgets in there is no way for us to start using budgets from the 1st Jan?

Jim G – Technically the funds are not available until the 1st of that year. We try to accommodate the committee if something arises.
James H. Thank you very much for that presentation. Do you mind if I borrow/steal that presentation. It was lovely.
Jim G. – it is in the BOX for your use to distribute as needed.
Russell S – any other questions?
Justin S. – Thank you for your report. You take past experiences from the last year. Do you consider large expense for that year also?
Jim G – We do have a trustee and treasurer on the finance committee and we use insight to create and balance the report.
Russell S – we called this a primer this year as this is the first year that we’ve done this. We want to try and improve it so please approach Jim G and see what you can provide.
Russell S – would you object to us to project some income and us passing the 7th tradition.
