MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING
January 14, 1988

The meeting was called to order at 7:30Pm with the serenity prayer.

Susie was asked to read the long version of the 5th tradition.

Minutes of 12/10/87 were read.Motion to accept minutes with corrections.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Newsgram – Jim G.

December-January issue submitted.

Next issue to include – 3rd concept, 1st tradition, Chicago convention, Changing of officers, New items.

Public Information

Bob G. Resigned from this committee. He left a list of items pending. They are as follows: 1.

1) Waiting for quote on Logo Stickers.

la) Suggestions from Jack Perry regarding logo stickers; send 4 free stickers with each order form for chips and literature sent out.

2) “Meeting Here” signs ready. Balance $62.50 at AAA Flag And Banner.

3) No action on 3×5 file cards for PSA’s.

4) Fact File – 2 estimates obtained

  • Econoplate – $4-$500
  • Kwik Copy – $650-$700

Several other items were left for the board to follow up on. These items were left in the computer.

Coco called Charles and he is unable to handle this committment at this time. Robin W. to be asked and Lori W. to be asked. Resumes will be checked on the persons that are presently on the committee, Coco will make contact and if interested, the persons will be invited to the next board meeting. Anonymity protection letter to be sent to all delegates and area offices.

Group Communications – Jim B.

Letter went out to all area CA Offices (Southern California) for 2nd inter-area event to occur. San Gabriel Area received a budget from their intergroup of $300 to provide luncheon. Meeting to be held at Los Encinos Hospital, February 21, 1988 from 1pm to 6pm. All boards members – mandatory to attend. Ray & Reggie have been invited to attend.

Chips and Literature – Cory A.

Submitted end of year inventory. Since that inventory, we’ve gone through 10,000 newcomer chips. Literature is moving well. Orders have tripled. There is an order ready to be picked up at this time. 6,7,& 8 year metal chips dyes ordered.

Office – Cory

Rotating line installed. Copy machine donated to L.A. Central by Bob M. Helene and Cory will re-do the filing cabinets.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Typewriter, filing cabinets copy machine – Helene, Cory and Steve P.will “shop around” for prices on all the above.
  2. Medical Insurance – follow thru taken care of by Cory.
  3. City of Culver City – application received for business To be handled by Helene and Steve.
  4. Still waiting for W.C. Quote, (workmen’s compensation)
  5. Rusty – state Board of Equalization needs tax ID# for new Articles of Incorporation needed as well.
  6. Rusty to send everything to Bernie Cans (attorney) for Trademark. Rusty will follow up on status of this petition.
  7. Job descriptions due at next board meeting (1/28).
  8. March meetings now re-scheduled for the 17th and the 31st. February board meetings will be the 11th and the 25th.
  9. Conference mailings – Newsgram, Chicago Convention flyers, formats from literature conference committee, letter of anonymity.
  10. Cover letter for donations to be submitted for approval at next board meeting.
  11. Ed Z. still to place ad in the recycler for word processor.
  12. Many problems arose from checking account at Bank of America. All checks covered at this time. Situation is grim but Ray and Reggie are following up. Coco suggest that we have a treasurer and possibly an assistant treasurer.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Connection – Susan S. from San Gabriel was presented to the board as a possible candidate for editor of the Connection. A resume was submitted.
  2. Letter from Atlantic Monthly Press asking us to endorse a book on how to keep children we love off drugs was received. Trustees will respond due to this being a violation of traditions.
  3. San Francisco letter- a letter was received from two members of the fellowship in San Francisco regarding the wording of the 1st step. Ray G. will answer this letter.
  4. San Francisco – a letter was received regarding the ordering of metal chips. They want to order these from us at cost. A proposal to follow.
  5. Chicago & New York concerned about the bounced check to the Marina Hotel since they will need that hotel as a reference in booking a hotel for the conventions.

Motion to adjourn – seconded and carried 9:40pm
