CONFERENCE REPORT
C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2022
CONVENTION COMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:
The Convention Committee has worked throughout the year, meeting monthly, with the chairs of the upcoming C.A. World Conventions. Austin did a great job hosting this year’s World Convention. The committee was filled with participating members, had good discussions and we all worked together towards being of better service for upcoming World Conventions. We had a great year and I enjoyed being the chair of this wonderful group of people.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MOTIONS:
Referral #10830191
Robert B., World Service Office Board
Add a Force Majeure Clause to the WSC Convention Committee Guidelines to address a procedure for postponement and/or cancellation of a planned CAWS Convention due to an Act of God.
A. MOTION: TO MAKE THE BELOW MENTIONED CHANGES TO THE WSCCC GUIDELINES, PAGE 62.
- Trustees advise that a Force Majeure condition exists.
- The Host City Steering Committee is offered the choice of moving the convention to the next open year in the convention cycle, or total cancellation.
- In the event that the Host City Steering Committee decides to cancel the convention, the WSOB may elect to manage the convention in the host city at the WSOB’s discretion.
- WSOB Director of Conventions and Conferences contacts the contracted Hotel, in coordination with the Host City Steering Committee as required; claims the Force Majeure condition and coordinates postponement or cancellation with the hotel.
- If cancelled, the WSOB Director of Conventions and Conferences works with the hotel for any deposit refund that may be owed.

REFERRALS STILL IN COMMITTEE:
Referral #10830184
Robert B., World Service Office Board, Pre-Conference
Modify the WSC Convention Committee Operational Guidelines (Pages 11 and 12) to include the WSOB Director of Conventions and Conferences as a voting member for Election of the CAWS Chair and Steering Committee (Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Hotel/Events Venue Liaison).
Referral #10830179
Robert B., World Service Office Board, Pre-Conference
Modify description of Director of Conventions and Conferences, Item 4 (WSM, Page 70) from: “4. Sits on all active Steering Committees (as a non-voting member (fa)*) of all CAWS conventions in the planning stages.” to “Sits on all CAWS Convention Steering Committees as a voting member.”

CLOSED REFERRALS:
Referral #11138339
Susan B., OSA/WSCPI
Requests that the Convention program includes a designated date, time & space with audio/visual resources to hold a face-2-face meet & greet for online meeting attendees. This event would promote Unity and Fellowship among the many of us who have embraced online recovery due to necessity or otherwise. C.A. Areas and Districts have already begun to include online and hybrid meetings in their service structures, adding to the expansion of C.A. as a whole. There is no reason to believe that this will not become commonplace as our Fellowship continues to grow.
Response – Referral #11138339
“No Action Taken”
The WSC Convention Committee believes that being prescriptive of space requirements outside of World Level (WSC, WSBT, WSOB) Committees and Sub-Committees is outside the scope and purview of our committee. Once we require individual conventions to provide space for one “group”; we must allow for any and all “groups”. We suggest that if any “group” is interested in using space, time, A/V equipment, or any other asset of an individual convention, they should work out the details directly with that individual convention committee.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
The WSCCC is glad to be of service to this wonderful fellowship. We have a lot of fun in helping to create the biggest parties of the year!
Respectfully Submitted:
Greg Bloem
Chair/WSC Convention Committee
