CHAIR ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The chair reads the relevant day from ‘A Quiet Peace’.
  • The Chair announced resignation of WSOB Secretary, Cathal M.
  • Yves invited as the NewsGram Editor.
  • December 2021 minutes were approved with minor housekeeping.

CAWS CONVENTION REPORT

CAWS 2022. (Austin). Susan L

Highlights:

  • We currently have 328 registrants (up 8 so far in January) and 902 room nights reserved, up from 820+ last month The San Antonio Unity.
  • As far as fundraising goes, we are still going to have some suite auctions and looking into some sort of drawing from all Registrants for something really special that will interest people in participating and getting the registrations in so they can be included in the drawing.

  • David, Jo and Susan met regarding the European registration push. We have added Jane B., Registration Chair, and she will be joining us from here on.
  • New menus for the Trustee lunch and the Cigar dinner are expected in the next couple of weeks. Jay to have a conversation and we anticipate selecting Paula H on or before our Zoom meeting on January 19. We are still in the process of getting all outstanding contracts shored up (Armadillo/Longhorn guy, food trucks, etc.)

CAWS 2023 (Atlanta) Michael S

Highlights:

  • The Steering Committee met at the hotel and was impressed.
  • Robert and Tom (Treasurer) met to speak about financials.
  • Four registration rooms may be used.
  • Speaker slate is going well.
  • Website going well.
  • RegFox demonstration is complete.
  • Will meet with Susan
  • Susan suggested he pitch the 2022 Convention while in Arkansas.

CAWSO 2024 (Amsterdam) Joost van K (not present)

Highlights:

  • Reviewing 2nd hotel draft contract.
  • Did call-out for speakers.

CAWSO 2025 (Arizona) Jay Parker

  • Several resumes received for Steering Committee.

OFFICE DIRECTOR REPORTS

Director of Operations- Lolita S

Highlights.

  • Researched ATA CARNET, which was recommended during Board-to-Board meeting. We will not benefit from this. This is only for goods that are shipped from the U.S. and returned to the U.S, and not goods sold.
  • STRIPE is integrated on the website’s online store and working well.
  • GiveButter is on hold until we can resolve non-profit status being erroneously revoked. CPA is working on it.
  • Final Sheraton LAX bill received – a few discrepancies found that should reduce $891 bill to $521.
  • New merchant account for conventions is integrated with Cvent, working properly and transactions were settled with Authorize.net as of January 12th

  • Will attend next S & B meeting.

Reached out to get update on referrals and there are three.

Met with Conference committee regarding Delegate Mailing.

Highlights

  • Finalized Cvent Event in a Box.
  • Waiting for 2024 contracts.
  • Flyer requesting bids for 2026 Convention committee was sent in Delegate Mailing.

Director at Large – David C

Highlights:

  • Jo replacing David’s PI assignment.
  • Suggested to Megan (Helpline Chair) to contact Kevin and Clay and be added to LTP working group.
  • NADCP (Drug Courts) ‘value for money’ concerns and methodology of following up leads from attendance. Ad Hoc Committee created by WSPI to investigate and making recommendations to take responsibility for ‘follow up process.
  • PI Survey extended till March new one to have translations facility.
  • Joe B (PI Web servant) has completed a new system for customizing PI posters. pi.ca.org/posters.
  • Website Project. Second meeting 8th January. Continued work with fictitious Personas of people who would/might want to use WEBSITE. Russian Method to create ‘STRUCTURED ARGUMENT FOR CHANGE’.

Director at Large – Susan L.

Highlights:

  • Will be meeting with LCF soon.
  • Serving on three LTP committees; one is almost over.

Director at Large – Joanne P.

Unity Meeting Highlights:

  • 2 traditions play, potentially to be held at Conference.
  • They are creating a flyer for CATW – it has missed the delegate mailing so will be asking for it to be posted on Ca.org. Information is in NewsGram.
  • They are collating email addresses for Area Unity Chairs.
  • They are also planning the Unity Breakfast for Conference.
  • Unity has inquiries for the Conference committee regarding space for the 12 traditions play and the Unity Breakfast.

TRUSTEE REPORTS

WST Trustee – Joni

Highlights

  • All expenses have been submitted and are in the process of being reimbursed.
  • Working with Hotel Liaison Sheree Hatch to book rooms/meeting space.
  • The WSBT is in the process of finding a new attorney.
  • The addendums for the 2022 and 2023 WS Conference have been signed.
  • The CVENT contract has also been signed.

WSOT TRUSTEE – Laurie

Highlights

  • No highlights.

EXECUTIVE SESSION TO INTERVIEW CANDIDATE FOR THE DAL POSITION

Voted on new DAL. Decision made from pool of previous interviewees.
