CLOSING REPORT

C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2021

FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT

INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:

The Finance Committee is here to develop and implement policies and procedures and oversee all matters concerning the finances of Cocaine Anonymous and help to examine methods to generate additional income for the fellowship. And we would like to thank all those who have taken an interest in the finances of Cocaine Anonymous.

The Finance Committee has worked diligently throughout this conference and over the last two years meeting monthly.  During Conference we spent a majority of our time reviewing the financial health of Cocaine Anonymous and providing an accurate budget for 2022.

Additionally, we have brought a prototype of the “Sobriety Chip” iron-on logos that can be seen on the shirts of members of the finance committee, and we have worked with the WSOB to provide more insight and direction into an online donation platform.  The idea for the new platform will help to provide ease of access to making donations to CA, and online management of your donations on a one-time and recurring basis.  This should help to increase recurring donations, and cut office time and costs for the processing and management of the recurring donations.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MOTIONS:

The Finance Committee has three motions to bring to the floor during closing reports.

The first motion will be the long-awaited Financial Guidelines that were submitted for review in the SR14.  These guidelines will provide general suggestions on how to handle finance as the Area, District, and Group levels.  These are meant to be suggestions only and be a resource for those needing help and direction on how to handle finances for their local Area, District, and Group.

The second motion will be the revised and final budget for 2022.  This budget is different from previous years as it attempts to provide a more accurate representation of the planned finances for CAWS.  The budget this year is being presented with a deficit as that is what the actual numbers suggest based on our forecasting.  There are planned cost saving measures that are being worked on by the Trustees and office to help lower the deficit, including reviewing the Quarterly Trustee Meetings to potentially have two meetings virtually instead of in person.

The third motion will be to approve the “Sobriety Chip” iron-on logos to be sold at the office.  The committee has been looking for additional methods to increase fundraising for Cocaine Anonymous as a whole.  The “Sobriety Chip” iron-on logos will be for sale at a final price to be determined by the WSOB and will initially be available in the following anniversaries: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40.  Upon seeing the demand for this product, it could possibly be expanded to include every annual anniversary from 1 Year to 40+ years.

  1. MOTION: TO APPROVE THE FINANCIAL GUIDELINES AS SUBMITTED IN SR14.
  2. MOTION: TO APPROVE THE 2022 BUDGET AS SUBMITTED
  3. MOTION: TO APPROVE THE “SOBREITY CHIP” IRON-ON LOGOS TO BE SOLD BY THE COCAINE ANONYMOUNS WORLD SERVICE OFFICE.

CLOSING COMMENTS:

The Finance Committee was greatly excited about this year’s hybrid conference, and it did not disappoint.  The work we have done over the past 2 years and during conference has been impactful.  With the submission of updated financial guidelines, new and continued fundraising efforts, and the potential for an updated and streamlined online donation platform with the potential to change the fundraising for CAWS, we are excited for the results.  The committee continues to monitor the finances, the lifeblood of the operations of CAWS.  We would like to extend an ongoing invitation to all Delegates to join the committee to see where the donations starting from your local meetings go, and what it takes to run an organization of this size.

Please ensure to inform your Areas, Districts, and Groups of the online donation process and encourage them to create a monthly recurring donation to CAWS to help ensure the future of the fellowship.

Respectfully Submitted:

Jonathan H
