The meeting of the Los Angeles General Services Board and the World Services Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Willie 0., Chairman of World Services, at 6125 Washington Blvd., Culver City, California.
OLD BUSINESS
Ray mentioned that new Literature had been approved. Monday p.m. it will go to the printers. Julie has gotten approval from author of “20 Questions” (the proper name for this piece of literature evades me at the moment) to xerox it and distribute it.
It was decided not to sell chips to Cocanon.
We are hopeful that 2 founders of CA from S.F. will send a representative once a month to join us.
Gary from San Diego wants to be notified of any meeting changes.
Willie will straighten out the problems that have arisen in regard to the Miramar accepting reservations. Also, at least one night’s deposit is necessary to book a room. The deposit is sent in with the form you fill out.
Re The Today Show: Ray spoke with Gil, and it was voted upon and decided (before the creation of World Services) to end this sort of thing. Another vote is required to reverse this position.
Sue requested a “message” from Willie for the Newsletter (introducing himself, etc.).

Willie stressed that the Convention is only three months away; therefore there is a lot of work to do, including recruiting SERIOUS volunteers to head up committees. Also, it will be necessary to meet more and more frequently as the Convention draws near. The Committees are as follows:
Registration: Misty has someone in mind and will follow up on it.
Food & Beverage: Nina B.
Welcoming Committee: Ray will ask Barbara W., and Willie will call the people in San Diego who are interested in participating in the Convention.
Meetings (Speakers): It was suggested that Robin W. might like this responsibility; also, Scott S. and Lee A., are interested.
Ushers, Clean-up: Neil suggested Richard L. and Darryl and will follow up on it. Willie will ask the fellowship in San Francisco if they’re interested.
Scheduling: Sue B.
Liaison with the Hotel: Willie
Treasurer: Lawrence.
Literature Chair.: Julie*

Sales of Trinkets: Bruce M.
Willie should be notified immediately if anyone cannot meet their obligations as Committee Head.
The meetings will commence at 12:00 p.m. Friday, and will be held until Sunday at Noon. There will be meetings 24 hours a day.
There will be a banquet dinner and a buffet breakfast. People will send their money in to participate in these functions. The Miramar has three restaurants which will probably bear the brunt of most of our dining needs. We have three large rooms that are at our disposal. We expect roughly 1,500 people. This figure may be way off, either way.
It was suggested that a meeting with ____ [the guy from the Miramar] prior to the Convention would be helpful.
Dana is going to contact Cocanon to see if they want to hold any meetings at the Convention.
* Julie will get the money to buy the Big Books when it starts coming in for the Convention.

It was decided that the literature Julie should provide for the Convention is the following: The Big Book, 12 & 12, A Day At A Time, and all of our literature and directories.
There will be circuit speakers in the big meetings and the banquet itself, and local speakers with a one-year-of-sobriety minimum. Sunday a.m. the spiritual meeting will be held.
It was suggested that we stay another day (Mon.) for the World Services Meeting. This was requested by San Francisco and Arizona.
TREASURER’S REPORT – Lawrence L. reported
A check was written for $648.72 for chips. About $1,000.00 remains to be deposited. Current balance is $1,130.12.
A new and separate checking account for the Convention will be opened.
NEW BUSINESS
Lee requested a copy of all minutes taken at Board and World Services’ meetings (purportedly to inform the ignorant masses of our doings). It is this writer’s opinion that he could supply himself with this information, as he never misses a meeting anyway. Nothing was really settled over this point.
At 8:40 Willie brought the meeting to an end with the Lord’s Prayer.
