C.A. WORLD SERVICES

December 27, 1984

7:30 PM In attendance:

This meeting is a joint meeting of the LAGSO and CAWS.

Robin presented the minutes of the 12/20/84 LASSO meeting. Problems with the GSR representatives were aired. Future directories will have the GSR meeting date printed on them. The issue of GSR attendance will also be brought up at the mandatory LA secretaries meeting to be held on January 7, 1985. The CAWS board discussed the necessity of job descriptions for all board members and that each member have an assistant. Ray directed all board members have a job description ready for the next meeting, as well as any assistants.

At the request of the Chairman of CAWS the next meeting will be on Wednesday January 9, 1984 instead of the regular Thursday night meeting.

Bruce reported on public and fellowship information. The new CAWS envelopes and letterhead stationary have been prepared. Ihe pamphlets are ready for printing. I The covers are done. Discussion about the folding and size of the pamphlets.

Cost for the 4 new pamphlets to be set up “camera ready” would be approximately $140. Cost to change the 1st 30 days and Tb the Newcomer pamphlets would be approximately $35.00. Directory would cost approximately $52.50 to layout and subsequent changes would only cost about $15.00. Moved, by Sue, to set up, type and layout the 4 pamphlets. Voted by the Board and approved. Bruce to follow through. The chips ordering form is set up in rough.

Discussion regarding the steps and traditions of AA. and how they would be fit onto some of the pamphlets, Moved by Sue that whenever possible every pamphlet would have the steps and traditions. Approved.

Discussion regarding the 3rd step reading and whether to include in leader’s format. Moved by Ray to eliminate the reading from the format. Approved by vote of the Board.

Misty announced that there would be some type of marathon meeting at the LAGSO office on New Year’s Eve.

Discussion regarding the LA secretaries meeting. Bruce brought up the idea of having an information sheet for the meeting to had out to the meeting secretaries, Bruce will put together with the. assistance of Robin, Misty and any one else interested. The result will be a set of guidelines for the secretaries. The board felt that the secretaries should not vote on the guidelines but that the guidelines just be handed out to them.

Under old business the issue of entertainment was brought up. It was decided that entertainment would be hired and that CA would not use its own members for entertainment.

Neil reported that he had ordered 5,000 chips .at an approximate cost of $600.00. The treasurer prepared a check for Neil to pay for the chips upon delivery.

Scott brought up a problem with the Miramar reservations for the convention. The hotel was saying that the reservation materials were being sent to the convention committee to handle the confirmations. The chairman of CAWS will be informed by Robin; the chairman of CAWS to follow up on why the hotel is not sending confirmations of reservation.

The problem with tax returns in other states was brought up by Scott. He will follow up and find out what has to be done.

The problem with the corporate year end of CAWS was brought up by Scott. Voted by the Board to change the year end to May 31. Scott to call Mitch and have ‘him draw up the appropriate amendment to the By-Laws.

Bruce informed the Board that he would be going to San Francisco to attend a public information meeting being held by the CA organization in San Francisco.

Discussion regarding having an advertisement in local newspaper regarding CA.

The idea was rejected. .

Robin reported that the flyers for the convention were ready. The board approved the purchase of 3,000 flyers instead of the 1,500 originally ordered.

Discussion about the stories for the book. Robin and Misty said that about 24 stories were being asked for. 12 or 13 stories have.been turned in.

Discussion about the meeting held the previous Saturday with the founders of CA in San Francisco. They have 24 meetings and will be donating money to CAWS. They were very interested in the convention.

Misty brought up that the TODAY show on NBC has expressed interest in a segment of one of their shows being devoted to CA. Said that the format must be set up for the NBC people to review. Ray to call Gil to set up format. Public information group of. CAWS will handle thereafter.

Meeting adjourned 9:10 PM.
